nice
Nice work :thumbsup: I like the art-style and the sound effects. I think you should add a 2 players mode on the same keyboard. It would not be that much work and it would be pretty fun I think :smile:
Oh and if you manage to address the crackling sound effect on the web export of Godot I'm interested. For the moment ,for my game, the only workaround I found is reducing the Audio>Mix Rate before building for web. Or running advising to run the game on Firefox where it's a bit better. 😐
@dekajoo thanks a bunch for the feedback! Thats a wonderful suggestion, I will definitely add it after the voting period! Yeah the audio crackling is annoying I will let you know if I find a fix!
@re-mar thank you!!
@devnugget I've been told to upgrade the version of Godot, I'll give it a try and let you know :)
@dekajoo oh yeah i did too update it a few minutes ago i just added local multiplayer and it seemed to have fixed it!
So did I, working much better with Godot 3.3.4. I'll check the local multiplayer when I have someone to play with 😀
Nice take on pong!
Nice setup and art. I would have appreciated more notice for most of the effects, it did feel unfair sometimes. The opponent changing would also have been interesting, and you could build a progression upon that: the opponent gets more wacky as you get more points, or something.
This is really fun - I loved it!
Loved it! Simple with a nice twist.
A simple concept executed with a high degree of polish. I enjoyed it.
@brads-space @cyanowski @nyles @3lstmsinatrenchcoat thanks a bunch! glad you liked it!
@chris-dirkis thanks a lot for the feedback! ill definitely add them when i have time!
I love the idea of changing old games in small ways to keep them fresh and this is just a prime example of how to do that. I loved playing this game and I'm sure it would be even more fun in local multiplayer. What I will say though is the switching score event while funny, and unstable, is maybe just a bit frustrating but all in all great game!
really good concept of glitching game itself here. it should be really cool for local multiplayer
It cool to see we both started with pong for a base came up with 2 unique twists on it. Great art and neat gameplay!
@n-o-games thank you so much!!! Glad you liked it, I will probably get rid of the swapping or make it less frequant :D
@mogaiskii @zapturk thanks a bunch!!!
I enjoyed it! Clean design. It is quite hilarious, I think the circle is quite strong because you can wedge the ball between you and the wall and it "charges up" then launches haha. One thing I would have liked is if there was some sort of indication that something is about to happen? Other than that, I thought it was great!
Neat game. I really enjoyed the experience of seeing my paddle turn into a sphere for the first time as it was quite unexpected. Also looks and feels nice.
Nice and polished. Jamming a paddle in to the ball when its at a corner was real fun.
Nice simple game with good take on theme.
Yeah, I won! Pretty unfair game ahah x) The circle paddle is so random ahah x)
Great game x)
When you swapped my score when I was at 9 points, man I don't think I've frowned that hard in a long time. Dang. Who knew a simple game of Pong could crush a soul.
I scored like 14 points and still lost. I don't think you know how totally normal pong works.
Great game! Thanks for making it!
Was the wonky hit detection part of the game?
I've broke the game trying beat hard difficulty)) Ball bounced out of my paddle and start bouncing up and down gaining speed! On mach 9 it hit enemy's paddle and went to stratosphere, i think by now it will catch up with Voyager and will gone interstellar)) After that, I didn't get a spare ball and let AI win! Cool idea, but I need a storyline to it! Not just try to beat AI!
Was curious about your game as I've also done a Pong with some twists for this LD. Your game felt good overall, with some good polish for a Compo entry. There were some nice details put in it like the screenshake, or the blinking when the scores get inversed. The audio overall was good, and the graphics while very minimalist work well too. For the downsides, I feel that the paddle/side swap felt too sudden and some kind of warning would be nice to prepare for it. Also, it was a bit disappointing that the AI doesn't have a changing paddle which could have added to the fun, as currently the AI is too predictable.
