That was pretty cool. I liked your simple graphical style.
The random generated levels were also a nice touch. +1 for me.
It lacked sounds and enemy variation though.

Liked the terraria style graphics but sounds were a bit lacking. fun though :)

Interesting, reminds me of Terraria. Hard to control though.

What was the goal? I couldn't seem to figure it out. Other than that, I felt it was neat to be able to move around and dig, build, etc. However, it would be nice to have a HUD or at least larger text to indicate what the options are. Likewise, I'd love to be able to cycle through the options more easily, perhaps mapping one key for forward and one for backward. I felt the best thing about the game was the style.

Pretty cool game, especially in 7-8 hours. As you mentioned, very easy to dig underneath, so I liked that you taunt the player for winning that way. Really encourages creativity.

I love this kind of game! I like the graphics and concept, of course. Although it is hard to control, it's still fun. I would like to see it expanded a bit more. :)

Also, I wonder if you would happen to be the Geti I know from FLD, dA, etc...?

Only 8 Hours? Really? I really like how this game works and feels. It's practically impossible not to think of Terraria when looking at it (actually that's what caught my attention in the first place!) but that's not a bad thing at all.. I really liked it, but couldn't get even close to getting past the blobs hahaha.

Great job!

CaptainIcy: Yes. This is my work now :) Nice to see you on LD48, will have to find your game if you made one!

I do wish the graphics weren't compared to one of our competitors rather than our game, but guess who won the race to steam, haha. I take it you guys meant it as a compliment.

aschearer: readme.txt ;) I guess I should've explicitly put "go that way ->" in-game but oh well, time was short (only thought to put controls in-game ~10 minutes before submission when someone tested it and commented)

A key to change forward and backward could work.

Considered allowing the player to build some traps for the blobs but I think having to use the terrain to your advantage and create funnels for them is half the fun.

Luiz: yeah, only 8 hours. Its my 4th full LD and I've done a couple of minis + I make games full time (+ uni part time) so I've got a bit of an edge when it comes to practice, haha.

Tobias: the lack of sounds gets to me too. I'm considering adding microphone sound effects and some chiptune backing track just to break the silence, got more to do today (uni report, cook dinner, get exercise) before I even think about coding any more though ;)

I liked this, and I felt drawn into the world.
I beat the game. Like a coward. Hm, well, I guess old Minecraft instincts die hard. :D

You should maybe add a way to, for instance, make or get weapons, so that you can actually fight the blobs, instead of digging under, building a bridge above, or herding them in some fashion.

Cute little building game. Can't believe it's made in just 8 hours (but why is it a jam entry?).

I'd like to understand how that genetic algorithm works. It was fascinating when I generated a level with a death pit, and they eventually learned to jump over it. Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/UF5dR.png (they even managed to killed me later)

Hey your game is is interesting ! I'm also interested by a post on the genetic algorithm !

Nice game! I like the concept of adaptive enemies! It's kind of hard to win without digging out, though.

ragzouken 2012-08-30 12:47

I found it really hard to control - couldn't get wood chopping to work :( It's nice visually, and quite impressive for the time :)
