Finally, a game to justify my 9:16 monitor setup! I think the game successfully achieved its goal of playing meaningfully differently because of the tall aspect ratio, looking up and down genuinely felt key.
RT wasn't working for me on web on controller, so I had to switch to mouse. Not a big issue, obviously web is always a bit flaky.
Web performance was completely playable, and I think the industrial PS1 aesthetic served the game well. A few places felt a little cheeseable with the grapple, but for the most part the sightlines worked and kept me on a sensible path. The one part that stumped me briefly was near the end, on the big slope in sight of the path of pushers; I spent a while grappling them are trying to figure out whether I needed to use them before I found the right path.
Overall a fun and unique experience, I enjoyed my time with it!

Looks greaaat! A good, eerie BGM would really do it justice.. Still, a great mood.

Really well made. The mood is gloomy, I still managed to get lost though :) It takes a bit too long for the first grapple-able bit to appear, I thought it maybe didn't work.
This needs a nice ambient background wind blowing, etc.
Looks great but web build doesn't work on mac (godot 4?) let me know if you make a mac build, otherwise I'll check back once I'm on my windows computer.
Great to see you on here! Hurray! I managed to beat it after it freezing on me when i tried to grapple those shield/grapple proof dudes there. So, i had to do the game all over again. It reminded me of the N64 days with lots of platforming and lowpoly graphics. Nice stuff.end.png
Extremely fun to interact with, very striking visuals, and incredible mood. All the mechanics seem to work as intended and are very snappy, and the sound work is very good- I love the grappling sound! The robot's design is cool, the animations are very expressive, and I like the overall design of the structure as well. It reminded me of some of the moments in Portal 2 where you have to puzzle out where and how to place certain portals to get around and really think spatially. A great little entry, even without a boss fight!
Cool game, I thought it had a nice atmosphere and and the level design was very good.

Very cool graphics and atmosphere! And thanks for linux build) Sound feels annoying a little because it's just one looped audio.
Also I totally lost among this beautiful giant buildings but it was cool!

What you had here was good and fun to play. I also liked the retro aesthetic and think you could go somewhere with it. The sound effects that you had also fit. Also, defeating enemies by using the grapple hook was a good idea. Unfortunately, I didn't finish the game because my game froze once I shot one of the enemies. But it was fun while I played.
Note that I played the web version. Also I tried to see what engine you used but I found that the link to the source (and the downloadable built games) were broken.

Pros: * This game scratched a very unique itch for me with the grappling; being able to swing around to get where you needed was a lot of fun that I've longed for, even outside of this jam. * Visuals and sound design were very solid; I especially liked the look given by the pixel filter. Animations felt very well thought out. * Controls felt snappy, and behaved how you would expect. * Next to no learning curve; I was able to boot up the game and immediately figure out what to do. Reticle made it clear that I was supposed to grapple, though a right click symbol (similar to metroid prime's grapple) wouldn't hurt. * Checkpoints were very forgiving, and fairly placed.
Cons: * I would've really liked it if grapples were immediately introduced! On repeat playthroughs, I often found myself wishing I had it at the beginning. * I feel the respawn time could've been reduced; felt that I had to fall for an unreasonably long time in some cases. * I think the camera could use some improvement; jumping into a ceiling almost always placed the camera inside of it, which got distracting after a while. * Beginning of the game had some severe lagspikes; these went away after a while, but would often freeze the game for up to two seconds. CPU is AMD 5900X, GPU is 3080ti.
Bugs: * Permanent freeze when grappling the middlemost turret in the ending area; the rest, including those along the pathway to the end, had no issues. * Releasing at a certain point in the grapple process will launch you extremely far.
This was overall a very entertaining entry; I'd love to see an expansion of this concept as a proper Steam release. I'd rank this as my current favorite game on here.
Awesome game! I loved the aesthetic, and the world felt huge - definitely achieved the desired dystopian megastructure vibe! The level design was great too - while I was hopelessly lost the entire game, it was still pretty obvious where I was supposed to go to most of the time, and the grappling sections felt really great to play. The enemies at the end was a very neat surprise, too! The game did feel like it dragged on a bit too long at the beginning, and it was a bit unclear what the goal was, but otherwise, great entry!
