LD22 — Alone

Monaxia by bildramer 2011-12-22T22:57:00

Runs fine, I sorta like the simple gameplay, Unfortunately, it might be a bit too simple: Jumping over constant barage of bullets with no real variation can get a bit tedious. Otherwise the black and white color scheme can be themantically related to alone, and being "alone" in the middle of the enemy lines, fits this as well.

The Travel Section by khakionion 2011-12-24T00:59:00

I would otherwise try this, however I do not have itunes or an iOS to try this.

Nothing But Stars by wbobeirne 2012-01-09T04:10:00

I would say: I'm in space.

Anyway the controls were very solid. Again a shame it was short.

ZED Survivor by faijdherbe 2011-12-24T01:05:00

Would have loved to try this one out, but I am using Windows, and the same blank screen remains after starting it:

ZED Survivor by faijdherbe 2012-01-09T04:25:00

Tested it after the fix and it works. Solid game, but could have used some variation :)

Its a shame there is not any sound: The controls seem to be a bit sticky so running to a specific direction, and then turning again is a bit annoying at times.

lonely robot by ericdpitts 2012-01-09T04:17:00

This was a fairly interesting game. The Rocket-jumping style gameplay was fun in a form. But yeah the game could have used some background, at times it was sorta hard to say where the camera was in relation to the player.

And speaking of cameras, it was a bit annoying as it was floating around constantly, but resetting the camera usually helped.

The Last Metalface MK2 by Jeremy Stark 2012-01-09T03:38:00

I get a 404 on the file

The End by 2A1S 2011-12-24T02:43:00

Congratulations on your First LD entry!

Now, I got the game to run without the patch, as with the patch It kept crashing on startup (with the patch). Also as a side comment do provide the patch ready in the game:

So: Without the patch there was a bug with it that caused the gameplay to suffer: picking up anything had no impact on the Health/Hunger/Thirst.

The Idea however is simple, and could work, but for a prototype where you simply beat up baddies, this doesnt seem to have a straight away place, other than other statistics you have to worry about.

A Big plus is given to the ambient soundtrack, however it suffers slightly as the sound effects might be a bit too bright (for picking up stuff),

The unstable lights also give it to the mood, however they could be a bit more transparent as currently they appear to block the view than behave as lights. However, since there is no darkness in the game, all they currently do is obscure the view.

Anyway seemed fun, and you have good mood going on in the game it self.

Stranded On A Forsaken Island by Rocknlol 2011-12-24T01:26:00

Overall, slightly difficult since you cant tell where exactly the worm is facing towards, but it is completely beatable: Runs okay, and it has some ok game play elements: There however could be more clarity on when picking up stuff: sure the boxes around the fountain lit up, but there could have been some form of an audio effect.

And yes, I did beat it on my first try :)

Alone Midway by Malactus 2011-12-20T21:58:00

the cube is actually just a test object for another puzzle, one which I didnt get to put in.

Hyper Alone (Totally not helpless) by iFred_QC 2011-12-24T02:26:00

Pretty Fun Game, I found it refreshing, the idea behind is also pretty cool: but as others pointed out the fact that the turns recharged so quick, sorta made it easy: Althought having a timer on the levels would probably make the player run faster :).

The Text Messages were occasionally annoying, but aside of that, the kitten area was sorta easy to guess :D (oh hai two meele cameras and a melee guard in a single room)
One of the biggest gripes was the fact that the enter key was supposed to be used to cancel orders: Since my other hand was on the mouse and other on the wasd controls, this made it slightly tenious to cancel an accidental misclick.

the metal midi music in the carnivorous cat room does earn you an extra star in audio: Regardless well done, and this could go further with enough polish :)

A sub-par adventure by Jcorp 2011-12-24T03:12:00

Could have been a compiled file provided separately, had to use the debug binary:

Regardless there are solid elements, the theme alone along with its, creepy moods are present along with and a bit of ill humor.

It was brought down by a couple of bugs and control inconsistencies however.

The Lost Viking by lasseastrup 2011-12-24T03:34:00

Definetly a fun game, I have to agree with the previous reviewers about how it reminds them of skifree :D

I feel that the range of the enemies were a bit too long (as there is no temporary invinsibility after getting hit), but that might just be me: The Audio track was very good, and sound effects cracked me up as they seemed to be completely opposite to the seriousness of the soundtrack.

Anyway, apparently a cat was selling the weapons. No wonder we got ripped off with some of the weapons :D

Me and My Shadows by TimOfTheYear 2011-12-26T22:11:00

Pretty creepy :D
I like child-like drawings as if you are a kid running around your own house during a blackout, scared of the shadows, as well as the overall mood of the game, Simple, yet nice :)

Apoc: Apocalypse Shooter by JohnLeeroy 2011-12-24T03:41:00

Could have used Screen.lockcursor, was a bit annoying when the mouse kept going off screen. It sorta impacted the fun the game could have provided.

Otherwise the mechanic seems solid, and there are some parts that, with enough polish could make for a decent mobile game for passing some time...

the staticity of the models reminded me of total anhilation for some strange reason.

Summit by gimblll 2011-12-26T22:25:00

This is actually a rather simple, but a interesting concept for a game I have to say: Only issue it definetly is difficult to play especially if you have a non calibrated Screen:

Also I found Rob, and spotted the guy (Was it jack?) throwing the flares, but not sure if supposed to follow jack or go where he came from. since he kept going much faster than the player :P

Planet Earth Is Blue by Adhesion 2012-01-09T04:00:00

Fun game, a tad bit disorienting perhaps with the camera rotating with the ship, but the audio was very good and the graphics were good.

The enemies however didn't seem to be much of a threat until the final boss, as they shot widely and just look randomly at directions. Could just directly run straight into a group of enemies, blast a bomb while picking up an egg. The Pea shooter seemed to be not as useful as the bomb.

Duckling by Veralos 2012-01-09T04:35:00

Thats one difficult, yet simple platformer. Was very fun, and it had the mood defined with the intro.

A dark dream by 0x64 2012-01-09T04:04:00

There definitively is the mood: and as a concept its very intriguing. Not so much sure about the fun aspect, but with enough variation you could get that in as well.

The sound and script were good.

Space Game!!! by TrevorDasch 2011-12-22T22:43:00

Would be a good idea to create an executable for easier distribution, not everyone wants to download extra frame works on engines onto their computers-

That aside, It is difficult to judge, and the game crashes after 10 seconds in. The graphics are so and so, but I dont really know about having shading on the 8-bit graphics if you wanted to keep them so pixelated, might as well kept the look :).

Otherwise, There is a decent loop in the background, but no sound effects from fireing and doing the sort, and from what I can judge from the gameplay, its rather simple, but ok. In my books its slightly skims the surface of theme "Alone", but it is easy to forget with enemies buzzing by constantly.

Anyway, a solid attempt, if wouldnt crash.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

NodeNetOS by Zathalos 2013-08-29T04:51:00

Interesting game mechanics, as others say here however there is too much to remember. I liked it :)

Perhaps a scroll-over tip tool on each node to say what they are? This would make the decisions a bit more easier and eventually allowing the player to remember the nodes them selves.

circles by quaternary 2013-08-26T10:41:00

Nice sounds and quite quickly done too. Bonus points for so many messages. Simple and easy controls, but you only get points for moving than surviving? is that intentional?

Ten Seconds to Meltdown by cerberus98 2013-08-29T05:29:00

Aww. OS/X only :<

Ten Seconds To Space by Arcana 2013-08-29T04:33:00

Gets pretty challenging after 15 seconds. Quick yes,
Unfortunately I do not see it particularly on theme, except at the start, which feels a bit restrictive as you do cant really do anything in those 10 seconds :P

I like the style of the watercolor styled background, and the music and sounds are decent

Draggin ten by Croze 2013-08-29T05:58:00

Quite fun,
Good Variation in obstacles and stuff you have to keep an eye out to be able to get all the way to the end distance.
Played until end as well :)

My only gripe is the upgrade screen. My eyes. They bleed eternally. Tone down the neo :D

Target Down by nexust 2013-08-29T05:26:00

Simple, sorta fun gameplay, It just gets annoying as the 10 second timer ticks down and then you explode. but for a minigame, yes.

One minor gripe When the Agent down screen comes, it does not react if i press any key until a few seconds later.

In anycase, could have been longer. :) May changing the terrain, or making it more difficult?

10 Second Waves by Erigitic 2013-08-29T04:43:00

Gameplay is simple, but could be fun if the controls would be improved. As many state here the restrictions of not being able to hold movement buttons in conjunction sorta can get frustrating.

If it is intentional to only be able to move vertically and horizontally, the controls could keep the previous button pressed so that after releasing the recently pressed button the previous (if still pressed) is active.

The 10 second theme is present as you have to clear the wave or else you fail.

As a suggestion next time, even simple sounds can make a big difference, a sound generator usually allows you to do this quickly :)

10 Seconds of Power by J.Barrows 2013-08-29T05:20:00

Uff it gets annoying when the enemies simply drop down to the computer. Could use a drop down as I have to wait till the terrain regenerates. I do agree with @ghostmaple that diagonal shooting would have been a blast :D

Battle Switch Arena by endlosnull 2013-08-29T05:08:00

Very Nice.

I like how the arena just changes every ten seconds by random terrain bits falling from the sky, and then morphing into the ground. and on the fly generates.

also the Pews.

Could use some variation in the enemy thought. Ranged maybe? only cubes I saw was just cubes comming up close (to atttack) to be easily killed (Infact, I think the terrain is the enemy here than the cubes)

Worst 10 Seconds of Your Life by biscuitdough 2013-08-29T04:58:00

I counted more than 10 seconds :) especially as the time starts to slow down at the end. Warping time there. Interesting concept. but could be refined to distance from the target instead of "time is nigh".

In anycase the randomness makes this nigh impossible to reach the goal, and i think you goal slides away anyway. Not sure if intentional or has deeper meaning but interesting regardless.

Water Closet by Angrycrow 2013-08-29T05:14:00

Fun game, although the controls could be explained a bit further.

When i started the game I was completely lost too as the camera was looking into the sky. For a moment there I thought my game had crashed. Maybe some reference in all directions would help?

The gameplay it self is pretty much timing and holding, but sometimes I couldnt move and had to find the spot which allowed me to move off the toilet seat (lol)

In anycase, I also had some issues with the timer going to negatives. but thats minor.

FoxBox by Malactus 2013-08-29T05:27:00

@Endurion you can thin the dogs by making the hunters shoot you :) but this was supposed to be so that you take the risk of taking on the dogs to catch the white boxes or hide to score up, but since I couldnt implement hiding, the score stays after you die.
