Dude nice game. One thing bothered me tho, you should opt out of humor at least if your game is not meant to be funny, sry I had to give you 1 star in humor due to that

Quick reminder to get more players: Use a thumbnail for your game. Otherwise your game is presented with this grey box. Some great Games are not played because of a missing thumbnail ... You can still change it by editing your submission page :)

Looks nice :D but I lost fairly quickly and couldn't really tell why or what happened. Like the direction though!

jonasmumm 2020-04-24 17:55

Nice visuals and polish! Personally I wish there would be a bit more tension in the gameplay. I found myself playing very cautiously and avoiding risks, rarely moving far away from the charging stations. Maybe if charging stations would run out for a while, only recharging when they're hit by sunlight, and resources dropped by meteors would disappear after awhile, forcing the player to decide which resources to go to first I can see it becoming a great game! The foundation to extend from is very solid and promising!

cmalk 2020-04-24 17:59

I ddidn't understand how to charge the drone, but in all other - it very cool!

mrpossoms 2020-04-24 18:02

Really nice looking little game. Pretty fun. One suggestion I would make though is around the battery indicator. It's very small on the drone, and I didn't even see it at first. If that could be made more apparent, I think that would be a good improvement :)

jsmailes 2020-04-24 18:04

Pretty visuals and nice music, but the game played quite slowly, and there was a lot of luck involved in whether or not you were able to survive, and what score you received. The fact that charging stations never ran out meant the most viable strategy is to hang around near a charging station and wait for resources to spawn. If the player moved faster and had a larger battery, and charging stations ran out after they had been used, then it would encourage the player to move around a lot more. I love the aesthetic, and with a little tweaking the game would be a lot of fun!

perfmouse-studios 2020-04-24 18:07

I really liked this game, the mood was just right! It was a bit hard tho, it would have been nice if you didn't lose power when you collect ores :D

daepso 2020-04-24 18:33

Platinium is dangerous, it drains your battery at very fast rate! Nice game but a little repetive after a certain time.

rewzu 2020-04-24 19:09

@sludgekey Thanks. :D At the Game Over screen there is always a message explaining why you've lost.

@jonasmumm Actually, in the early stages of the development, the idea was that there always were some disabled charging stations, but in the end I thought it could be too confusing/annoying. Maybe in the future I'll bring this feature back (with some improvements). :)

@cmalk Just stay around one of the charging stations for a while ( these white towers that electrocute you ;) )

@all Thank you for the feedback! :D

dmars 2020-04-25 02:10

Beautiful game and relaxing to play. Because the amount of points it takes to get an upgrade increases, while the values of the metals do not, the game gets very grindy after a while. Also, it's pretty hard to die once you're moving at 200% speed. Still, it's a very nice concept.

endurion 2020-04-25 18:21

Wow, that's awesome!

After learning that the drones power is shown on its top it was clearer. Gathering minerals drains your power. Nasty: The higher the mineral count is the faster is it drains! Which helps keeping play time down, but also kills you way faster!

Still, looking great and plays pretty well!

sndr 2020-04-26 11:45

Very beautiful game, soothing and relaxing to play. I found myself staying quite close to stations to be safe - so maybe a bit of challenge could be added on that side to encourage players to explore and take risks, maybe having power stations run down or activate/deactivate with a certain periodicity - although to allow that, probably a bit of a larger battery would be required.

The look and feel, ambience, mood and aesthetics are gorgeous. Nice entry overall!

random-thoughts 2020-04-26 12:16

Nice game! The graphics and music is really good, especially considering this is a compo game. My only problem with the game is that there's nothing motivating me to take the riskier choices. It always seems better to just go for the lower value/lower risk minerals that are near the towers than it is to go for higher risk minerals that are further away. Its kinda like optimizing the fun out of the game. Thats kind of nitpicking though, with the amount of time you had, your game is really well made. Well done!

rewzu 2020-04-26 12:36

@dmars Maybe it gets a bit grindy, yes. However, upgrades allow you to get higher score faster. :D

@endurion More valuable minerals drain the battery faster. It isn't based on the amount of the resource, but the type of it. :)

@sndr @random-thoughts Yeah, I'm aware of that. As said in previous comments disabling power stations over time could work. On the other hand, as it is now, playing safely takes much more time to get all the upgrades and high score. More valuable resources are much more rare and to extract them, you usually have to move away from the safe spot and look for them around the planet.

Thanks for the feedback! :D

sebeee 2020-04-26 12:53

It's a beautiful game

oillen 2020-04-26 13:03

A relaxing game about resource collection and energymanagement quite a nice combination, could be part of a beloved survival game. Made multiple runs, seems the green and yellow planets likes me, my best run was on a yellow one, that had intense lightning :sunny:

taran-unraveler 2020-04-26 13:16

The idea is good, the game is well made, everything is fine except the rewarding system which is not working at all, let me explain: if you don't reward the player with something, he will not feel motivativated to go on. Yes, there are rewards: the upgrades. But the gap between a reward and the next one increase too much as you go on. As you get to 25k you have to wait until 50k for the next reward and as you get to 50k? you have to wait until 100k?! that's too much! that's 50k more! it took me a while to get to 50k and will still take me a while to get to 100k even with upgrades I got till here! You have to reward the player more frequently to make the game addictive! at 100k finally you get an upgrade to increase the amount of resources you extract, give that reward earlier so that the player see the score going up faster, reach the next reward faster, that's what make a game addictive. It's not like there is a lot of things to do in this game but that's fine if you make the game addictive, people will play it for hours. Sorry for the long response, just wanted to share my knowledge about addictivness of games. Leaving all this aside, the graphics and all are well made, well done!

groggi 2020-04-26 14:23

Nice and relaxing. Loved Sound and Music and graphics! I think one thime I got hit by the meteorites which felt a bit unfair because I didn't see it coming. Overall a really nice entry!

firellon 2020-04-26 14:28

Wow, that was rather enjoyable - to fly around the planet, gather resources and rush back to the energy statin while trying to avoid the meteorites.

The energy bar on the drone was not obvious to figure out at first, but it looks mighty athentic. Maybe, some duplicate energy bar on the UI would be helpful?

Also, how is the difficulty increasing during the game? While your own progression is very nice and gives you motivation, I'd enjoy being able to face harder challenges as I progress :)

Low-poly graphics are super sleek and nice (while the drone could be a little bit bigger for convenience reasons - or maybe, it could grow over time in order to increase the difficulty?)

Nonetheless, very nice entry, thank you for creating this!

tom-robson 2020-04-26 17:05

I think a little bit of direction on what to do when you start would be a good addition, but honestly I really liked the idea here!

It's something I could honestly sit and play for hours if it was a little more fleshed out. Sure watching a meter go up is fun for a few minutes, but man just imagining all the possibilities if you took this further makes me really excited to see what might happen next! Scale the planets up, add more stuff to find and do, and maybe slow the pace down a little bit, and I would adore this game!

Great job!

kuiefs 2020-04-26 21:27

The vibe was great because of the graphics + the audio. I didn't realize the health bar was on my body because I started out too zoomed out. Wish there was a bit more complexity to the difficulty. The game mostly came down to patience and not skill. Enjoyed it though. Great job!

week-of-the-agents 2020-04-27 11:30

Not a bad idea, neat graphics (except sun drops shadow on planet's surface O_O ). But it's hard to play cos of fast battery discharge.

rewzu 2020-04-27 15:54

@taran-unraveler Yeah, I am aware of that. Thank you for the feedback. :)

@firellon Thank you for the suggestions! :D

@tom-robson I'll see what I can do about it. :)

@kuiefs Well, patience is a skill after all. :D

@week-of-the-agents Sun does not drop shadow. There is moon orbiting the planet and it can cause a solar eclipse. :)

virtu 2020-04-28 16:02

Very well done and polished for a compo. I really like those randomly generated planets. Both audio and visuals are great. Upgrading the drone feels pretty rewarding as well. Very relaxing game. I would like to see this expanded in the future. Well done!

kjscott 2020-04-29 15:41

After the first couple of games, where I died really quickly, I eventually got a handle on the mechanics of the game. The basic game loop of collect resources and recharge battery are well implemented, and with the randomization based on the seed it means you could try out and come back to certain layouts when you want. The problem is when you get to about 10k+ requirements for materials, it becomes a pretty slow and tedious game was there is little to keep you occupied and if you stick to a relatively safe strategy then it just becomes a matter of time before you get what is required.

If the different resources each improved different areas of your ship, then you could start to introduce a hunting mechanic in the players own head. The choice over do you mine the slow irons or fast gold and platinum then become important choices.

I would definitely take a look at the core mechanics of improving your ship and see how you could tweak them to make the core game loop more entertaining. With some improvements I think this could be a really good game.

larsdu 2020-05-02 18:03

I like the graphics and atmosphere. The battery indicator is almost impossible to see however. Perhaps it should be in the HUD.

fabula-rasa 2020-05-07 15:07

You created a Wall-E without Eva game ;)!

A very nice game with truly great atmosphere. It took few tries to get a handle on things but once I did, I had fun with it. For example, it wasn't immediately apparent that the droid has a battery on his back (I didn't zoom in from the start and it wasn't visible at the distance).

Graphics are pleasant to look and the soundscape is also nice. The background music bets repetitive after a while. Gameplay gets repetitive after a longer while but it's really to be expected in a jam game.

Overall, it is an extremely impressive job for a compo! Hats off to you, sir or madam

duke 2020-05-07 21:47

Really cool, awesome compo entry! The graphics are gorgeous and complement the game play very well. It's a nice touch to have everything randomized to give each try a twist (even if it's just a little one) The core game play was interesting at first glance but had some major balancing problems. The main issue was the battery. Some of the metor drops just straight out killed my battery when I ran over it. I couldn't wrap my head around why I was always dying the instant I started to harvest some points. The game really just disencouraged me from actually playing it and getting some points for upgrades :D And depending on how far the energy towers were apart from each other and/or away from the good resource spots, it felt like a hassle to go back and forth for some measly points.

The game still looks and feels really promising and with a little work, this can be a really enjoyable experience. Like I said, still a great entry, especially considering this a compo. Keep it up!

lcstark 2020-05-09 14:58

A really nice entry! I'm enjoying the calm experience of a lone space mining drone. ;)

I think the power charge bar should be visible in the on-screen UI, the tiny bar on the drone is really difficult to see. It's especially difficult at the start of the game, when your power reserve is so small. The player shouldn't have to play the entire game zoomed in to be safe. I'd also move the first battery size upgrade to be the first upgrade on the list, since the starting power amount is really small.

I'd make it so you don't mine just by standing over the mineral spot, I'd require the user to either toggle mining with right mouse button or to have them hold the button to mine. Right now it's easy to lose all of your power because you're standing on a mineral field.

Oh, and on some planets it's really difficult to see the mineral text on the day side - perhaps adding a black border to the text wouldn't be a bad idea.

Overall it's a really fun game. The visuals are great, sounds and music worked well. I had a lot of fun with it. ;)

shaulor 2020-05-12 16:46

Very relaxing and cool atmosphere, can be a little frustrating if you run into a high resource node and get drained instantly
