Great game! Had lots of fun!
ok so this game is gold and I feel like i've actually lived this situation i love the whole style you did such a great job!
This game is super fun. I don't know why you guys don't have more reviews! :) The core mechanics are quite polished, challenging but fun nonetheless. The style and sound effects suit it so well too. Good job overall, guys!
@sndr After LD we were actually totally busy for a few days and only today started to build up our "karma". So we hope to get lots of reviews in the end.
And thank you for your review! We are glad that you had fun!
Interesting mix of genres! Enjoyed this gem.
What I loved * The overal feel, trying to read the phone while dodging and collecting ingredients * Felt great * Interesting combo of genres * the sound effects were funny
My Thoughts * Hitboxes were a bit off from time to time I felt like * I felt the objects came at you a little to fast. Maybe zoom out a little bit? * Challenging but fun!
Iād love for you to review my submission as well.
It's a good game. But not fitted for compo since the music was not created in 48 hours and it was not made by 1 person :/
Hehe, nice idea and comedic twist to it. I was liking the audio and the controls were easy to pick up and play which made the experience definitely that much more better. Nice game maxklimenok, good job!
@spthiel Thanks for the note! Just did not noticed that we are in the wrong category. Corrected out our entry.
Very well now there's nothing to complain about anymore :P
Pretty fun! I also laughed at the "You Lose" music. Well done!
Not bad! I had fun texting and dodging projectiles but once I had the recipe I hit a wall. I didn't realize that you didn't have to doge ingredients before you had the recipe so once I had it I had to wait until the chef had thrown all the stuff I needed and that never happened in the time I played. Even if they did throw something good at me, chances were I reacted too slow and had already blocked it, making it even more frustrating to wait.
I think the game was good over all but it needs to be rebalanced. Or perhaps you could let the player move around and pick up fallen stuff? Although that may be too many things for the player to do simultaneously.
Cool, another cooking game! I really liked the mixing of ideas here, it was really hard to mind what you're doing on the right and reading the texts on the left. The music was a bit aggressive though.
@TheM Thank you for leaving a comment!
"too many things for the player to do simultaneously" - that is the main point of the game. šØāš³
If you give it a second try you will note that while you are texting, the stuff is flying pretty slowly and the game is balanced in a way that by the time you'll get the recipe, you should have all required ingredients on hand. Then, when you get the recipe, speed increases significantly, and the reasons are as follows: - you do not need to split your attention on messaging anymore, - you need to get absent ingredients fast if any, - Chief Krugger gets really mad at you š.
Probably, based on your comment, we should make the following adjustment: after getting the recipe only required ingredients mixed with tableware should be thrown at the player to reduce frustrating waiting time.
@pebkac Yep. We really tried our best to put the player under the pressure and to create nerve tension user experience with a humor tint.
This game is just great! Really enjoyed it and had lots of fun :) Was pretty clear from the beginning what I had to do, tho at first I thought I could bounce back the knives back to where they came from and maybe earn score like that as well but them staying on the floor I feel like they gave an extra layer of difficulty as started to pile up :D Nice (y)
Excellent idea and a very good take on the theme! I really had fun playing this. The art are awesome and the game is very polished. Good job!
Please, take a look at mine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
@sfey Thank you for your tip of bouncing tableware to the point of where it came from š If we decide to continue with the game after LD, we will definitely implement this one!
the turn rate of the character is too fast. I think its better if you make it slower because sometime it is easy to catch the things towards you. By the way the 16 bit sound is so cool and the arts also. Good job its fun to play.
Holy crap this was so much harder than i expect and super fun excellent work
Fun game! All the effects of deflecting items are really nice and satisfying. I wish that after learning the recipe you could only get the required ingredients, since I often had to just wait for a while until the specific things I needed would spawn.
@dovakla You are right, will definitely implement this one to reduce frustrating waiting time in the late game.
So much stress, yet so much fun. Is it weird that I want to play a VR version, and dodge meat cleavers and spatulas while texting and catching food?
I had a great time playing this game! Only thing I had a slight issue with was the fact that I couldn't figure out how to collect the food at first and I kept deflecting it for a while. Maybe you should include that in the tutorial. Other than that, awesome game!
This game was a blast. I accidentally told my wife "Die Bitch" because I hit the wrong button. I'm thinking "Siri did it." I didn't make the first recipe, but this is a game I'll play again.
You did a great job trying to create a tension of a stress situation, I really loved it. The dialogue felt natural and gameplay mechanic was simple enough to keep thinking in both directions yet still provided challenge. I didn't see any flaws in design or other aspects.
This is surely one of the best games I played this jam and I'd store it in my honourable games folder if you had a windows version xd.
@MaximBegunov Your wish granted!
I just made up Win32 build (find the link in the description). We honor fair play, so this is LD Jam version as it was at the moment of the initial submission without any consequent updates/improvements/bug fixes. It should not differ from WebGL version.
Very addictive. I died a lot and never felt cheated, except by my slow reflexes. Great concept and great execution. Can't wait for the console version!
The idea isn't bad, but I had two main complaints.
1, the characters are basically all assholes and there's not really a way to avoid that.
2, the food seems to be so random that you can literally sit there collecting 9 of something you don't need, just waiting for a 3rd cucumber or something to finally spawn. I assume this also means the food gets thrown faster the whole time. The worst of it all is that the extra food you collect doesn't count towards the next level so you have to do it all over again. :P
I played until I beat all 3 levels though.
@gafblizzard Thank you for commenting and for extended playtest.
In the current (Post LD) version we made the following adjustment: as soon as the player gets the recipe he gets only missing food mixed with tableware coming at him, so the player have not to wait endlessly for that cucumber.
But for the purpose of fair play we decided to leave LD Jam version available for evaluation.
@MaxKlimenok I think that change would make things a lot better!
Also make sure you play Overcooked on Steam if you haven't already for a hectic team experience.
yey! this was great! I felt that this actually happens to me all the time, such stress! great work on good game!
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
