LD35 — Shapeshift

Vial Toxin by GibTreaty 2016-04-18T14:53:00

I love the use of the theme! Each of the character designs is really neat and unique :)

The gameplay is bit lacking, but it is a jam.

It would have been nice to be able to switch forms with 1, 2, 3, 4 etc., my fingers kept going there automatically.

With a few puzzle-y section and especially some moving traps, this game could be super cool! Graphically and thematically it shows promise.

Morph Ranger by mrnannings 2016-04-18T18:34:00

By far the best LD game I've played so far! The music and sound effects are perfect, the graphics are adorable, the ending reveals a bit of story that adds a nice touch, the controls handle perfectly, the evolution of abilities is satisfying and at times unpredictable...just wonderful.

My only issue: while super jumping over the spike, if you hit the spike twice, it was possible to get stuck with the DNA strand on the other side of the wall after you were damaged, and I had to restart the level? This may be intentional, but I'm not sure. Arcing that jump was tough in general!

ShapeMania by Doccrazy 2016-04-18T14:48:00

One of my favorite games I've played! The switching mechanic to be able to glide to complete jumps to such an awesome and creative idea. The level design definitely needs a bit of work (checkpoints would also be nice, and right now it requires getting a pretty hard number of things right in a row in some cases), but it's a game jam, so that's pretty understandable! While gliding and wall jumping could use a bit of tweaking, the mechanics are overall satisfying! I wish the ball mode had more uses. Great use of the theme!

Infinity Access by Hyoga-3D 2016-04-18T14:42:00

It could definitely use some instructions! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to keep pushing the ball, couldn't tell I was running out of energy, didn't know what the little "Fight" figures meant.

The vector graphics were awesome though, and the music was really well synced with it. Love the whole "internet surfer" feel!

Three Body Problem by sarge 2016-04-19T03:30:00

The music, despite being repetitive, is pretty awesome and fitting! I love the different weird bug-like character sprites, and shapeshifting to fit into different places in a platformer is a great use of the theme! It seems a little useless to actually "Fire" when the enemies movement patterns and your horizontal fire arc are really hard to intersect?

It would be really helpful if selections were indicated, whether via a color difference on the selected object or a little window that tells you what you had selected. It was very hard to tell what my button presses were acting on!

Fun little typing game! I could see this as being one of the better minigames in one of those "learn to type" software suites. The sound effects and word choice were pretty satisfying! It was more "case shift" than "shape shift", but I still liked it quite a bit :) Nice oldschool feel to the graphics, too.

Flames and Shifting by Jordan 2016-04-18T03:53:00

beautiful game, the way the different colors of lighting compliment the flame-based weapons and it's just gorgeous...though the shadows and particle spam can make it hard to see the player character sometimes.

it seemed like there may have been a bug with the physics that caused moving characters to have their shots go...nowhere? maybe collide with themselves? it could also be me misunderstanding the controls.

Shape maze by Firephoenix 2016-04-19T01:34:00

Having only 4 cardinal directions on via keyboard controls, the diagonal mazes can get very frustrating and consist of lots of tedious (down, side, down, side, down, side) movement. Mouse controls, or...an on screen joystick?...or mostly square mazes would definitely help. Still the generated mazes themselves look really cool, and the color scheme is simple but it works, and nice use of the theme!
