Wow. Really enjoied. The art style is simple but really effective. Music is great, and the game has a lot of variation for a rithm game

Great Job!

taffyko 2020-04-21 01:32

aw yeah! what a charming bunch a lil' guys-- love your artwork! and love me a fun lil rhythm game too, you done good

gabtoschi 2020-04-21 15:37

I really like the Rhythm Heaven vibes and loved to play it. I probably just wanted to "feel the flow" a little more, sometimes the moments to press the button feels random.

(and I really want a full indie Rhythm Heaven-like game!)

jahwffrey 2020-04-22 04:31

Amazing. That was bright, colorful, clever, and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Great work!

big-chalupa 2020-04-22 04:36

Very cool! The art and camera work is awesome and I love the synchronization with the music.

picross 2020-04-22 04:37

Cute little game! I like all the distracting events. I wish it was just a tad more obvious when you were supposed to press a button, though. Nice work!

theqiwiboy 2020-04-22 04:37

I really liked when the spot light turned on. It was challenging but fun.

kimkillaqueen 2020-04-22 04:38

This is great! Last time I played a rhythm game was on my Vita, so my timing was pretty off

Sometimes the contrast with the white bar and the other colors on screen made it difficult to realize another beat was coming, but that's also probably on me and I should get used to the bg a little more

Anyways, rad game, makes me wanna play more rhythm games :sob:

terristen 2020-04-22 04:38

Not a fan of rhythm games really, but I did enjoy this. At least I think I did. I kinda felt hypnotized for a bit in there so there's no telling what subliminal messaging you embeded... wait, did I lose some time? Hrm. Must Rate Game Highly.... ;)

Seriously though, I liked the little ways you tweaked the player with the visuals. The music was retro but and catchy.

Great job!

grantimation 2020-04-22 04:40

My main critique for this game is that the timing for the rhythm and the button presses seem to not be synchronized consistently. Other than that, this game is very enjoyable and I like the minimalism of the visual style.

boxedmeatrevolution 2020-04-22 04:42

Everything fit together very well and the song was quite catchy :)

finn-tr 2020-04-22 05:03

I really enjoyed the game! It's very well made, love the art and music. Great job!

sciman101 2020-04-22 14:47

Tysm to everyone who's played so far! I'm planning on patching a few minor issues later today, and I'll try and fix the timing a little if I can.

ezra-szanton 2020-04-22 14:55

Really fun rhythm game! I really liked when I got in the flow and it was cool that you showcased how you can time it just from the feeling but zooming the camera around.

inefficientchunkofcode 2020-04-22 16:17

So simple and so entertaining at the same time! I like how the difficulty changes just by changing the camera view, and at the same time not becoming annoying.

Got 77% accuracy in my first try! Hoho!

Nice game! Really enjoyed it!

somethinboutgames 2020-04-22 16:20

Fun game with great music and happy visuals  I missed those quick succession hits so often, that's on me though...

sndr 2020-04-22 16:28

Oh that was fun to play! Super simple, yet effective. I loved the text prompts and the overall aesthetics. They have their own personality!

torcado 2020-04-22 23:18

man this is great!! really nice and polished. aside from some timings not lining up perfectly, it plays real well the art and animations/effects are nice to look at

lambdanaut 2020-04-24 18:17

Awesom3! That was an aesthetic treat! Love the colors, animation, energy, and flooowww. Got 84% accuracy on my first try. Not too shabby huh.

I'd play this game a lot more if there were more levels. A "survival" mode would be fun too. One in which you have a life bar that goes down when you get an EH and up when you get a GREAT!

I'm curious about something. Is each colored individual a different sprite, or did you use a Godot feature to programmatically recolor them?

hornicar 2020-04-24 18:19

YES! I finely found this game! We were following your blogs on the ld main page and were all very curious about what your game would be! We had actually a bet on wether your game was a rythm game or not This was so fun ! Loved the graphism and the music! And the camera movement to increase difficulty were super smart

sciman101 2020-04-24 18:19

@lambdanaut Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :D To answer your question, your suspicions are right - there's only 1 person sprite, and I'm changing their 'modulate' property to recolor them. I just use a little math to change the x coordinate to the hue, and the y coordinate to the saturation. I've been considering making a full game based on this now, a collection of other minigames - we'll have to see!

sciman101 2020-04-24 18:20

@hornicar Thank you!! I'm flattered you guys were interested in my game, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it

zessirb 2020-04-24 18:23

Real Rhythm Heaven vibes here! The camera movements made the game really fun. Like you mention, I felt like the crowd animation could be a little later to match the rhythm, but music synchronization felt good

convg 2020-04-24 18:30

Awesome game! Honestly, I have no complaints. It looks good, the changes make a great challenge, its polished, the difficulty is balanced. Really good job!

dodormeur 2020-04-24 18:32

Really cool game ! The game feel very polished, and easy enough for a newbie in rhythm game like me to have fun ^^

Good job !

(the only thing I would change is the z-index of the feet of the character that are in front of the head of the character sitting in front, but that's a minor detail ^^ )

sciman101 2020-04-24 18:34

@convg Thank you! @dodormeur Ah yeah, I know what you're talking about - to save resources the way I draw the crowd means it has to be on a separate layer, thankfully it doesn't seem to be too big a deal

docgeraud 2020-04-24 23:57

It such a blast to play this game! I love all the modifiers you had to the base gameplay, so clever and it works really well. Good job =]

amazura 2020-04-25 02:08

short but incredible.. music synchronized well and the camera movement made a change to difficulty, then i manage to remember the tune than focusing on camera  anyway, nice work:thumbsup:

teammonumental 2020-04-27 23:31

Unique idea  I like the simple yet eye-cathcing art style. Nice usage of difficulty with the camera panning. It's so satisfying when you time it perfectly!

gameovermexico 2020-04-27 23:36

Grate!!! Its fun!, a lot of Ludum Dare 46 Jam (publicity), nice work

jrap 2020-04-27 23:50

WOW! I love this entry. Great intro, bright presentation, quirky humor at the start there, then a lively little game that looks beautiful and is a LOT of fun. I spent a lot more time than i needed to keeping up with the music and watching everything happen hehe

noahnewline 2020-04-28 07:38

This feels straight out of Rhythm Heaven and I love it for that! I really liked the concise tutorial at the beginning was explained by the person sitting next to you, and the plane with the Ludum Dare banner was a nice touch. The camera bouncing the the beat was fun and effective, and all of the gimmicks to keep you from relying too much on the visuals were really great. Overall a fun cute simple entry!

sciman101 2020-04-28 15:16

@teammonumental @gameovermexico @jrap @noahnewline Thank you! I'm glad you all enjoyed playing, I'm honestly considering putting together a rhythm-heaven style game in full at this point

rob-parker 2020-05-01 18:14

This was a great game! The different camera movements and changes kept it entertaining all the way to the end and it worked so smoothly. The simple graphics worked really well too!

quadape 2020-05-01 21:31

I really liked the graphics. Audio is good and fitting, gameplay is simple and fun. Great job!

sciman101 2020-05-03 16:31

@rob-parker @quadape Thank you! The idea for the camera movements came straight out of rhythm heaven. I'll be sure to play your guys' games, as well!

dragonayzer 2020-05-05 20:25

Loved music and visuals! The feedback of the wave stopping if you screwed up is also a great touch. The darkness part felt a bit difficult to me as there was no musical clue before you have to keep up the wave. Other than that, loved the experience!

2020-05-08 10:17

Cute and simple game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/a4mUfaMtGeE

sciman101 2020-05-09 13:20

@jupiter-hadley Thank you! :D I gave it a look, glad to see you enjoyed it
