LD46 — Keep it alive

Gardening Angel Kung Fu by ted 2020-04-21T22:37:51Z

Favorite Line: "[Above is] Cloud Nine, where nobody has to work" This is a pretty unique little gardening fighter, everything moved and animated pretty smoothly which is pretty great for a 3D game to accomplish in such a short time, nice touch on the dynanmic camera when fighting enemies!

I had a little trouble managing to hit enemies and not get hit in the process by other enemies, but I'm sure I just haven't come up with the optimal strategy yet

B R U I S E S by leafthief 2020-04-21T20:33:56Z

This game is so pretty and polished! Everything comes together to form such a good somber mood.

I had trouble finding whatever it is to stick the message pieces together unfortunately (I'm very bad at point and click games), but what I played and saw of the message has such a good presentation! I'm especially fond of the purple violet and gold color palette.

Vinyl Hills by MatthewPoletin 2020-04-21T01:05:06Z

I had a fun time playing this, managing musician health while commenting reading and managing crowd banter made for some neat and frantic multi-tasking gameplay.

If I could make a recommendation, maybe lower the frequency of comments from the crowd, sometimes the comment text would overlap, and it got hard managing it while watching the musician's health bars. Another issue popped up where the audience member towards the far right would have their text box cut off, making it hard to gauge their reaction.

With a few more crowd comments this could work as a neat mobile game! :iphone:

Gumball by eva 2020-04-22T20:33:05Z

I got a 3!

Gosh I dig the look and vibe of this game so much. Amazing that you were able to make something this polished looking in an even shorter time frame.

Letting players choose the tile, add ramps, and increasing the map size could make this a full on puzzle game down the road!

Sons of the Boulder Goddess by superpatch 2020-04-21T22:53:50Z

Twisted Katamari :red_car: :chains: :red_circle: There's so much here to talk about: the music, art, production, game feel, it's all hella rad :sunglasses:

Wayward by ColeSlaughter 2020-04-20T22:54:41Z

"wait, this isn't the way to Baskin Robins"

Such a wonderful game, a lot of us are going through hard times right now and a lot of the words in this game really resonated. The art and presentation is fantastic.

Expanded I could see this could be a great game on its own. :purple_heart:

Keep the DUCK alive by Hackschnitzel 2020-04-20T22:12:16Z

I lost it at the first sentence  Really dig the solutions. One of them having numbers had me scared at first.

Good choice of win music too!

Finding Sam by nolanfa 2020-04-21T04:20:30Z

This game seems pretty neat, it's visually distinct and haven't seen a lot of visual novels on here, especially with this kind of more traditional approach to art.

I had a little trouble understanding what the UI was for (and early on kept accidentally clicking on one of the npc's feet initiating a talk with them a bunch). I'd recommend adding some sort of state to npc's so the player wouldn't have to redo lengthy conversations (like the npc at their laptop).

Otherwise an interesting premise and presentation, great work!

Responsibility by BlueMirror 2020-04-22T03:30:54Z

Oh gosh this game is so cute! Managed to reach the end (after some real close calls too!).

the art (especially the dragon) looks super cute, and the gameplay was just enough to be engaging, especially keeping the dragon fed and while also extending your reach for resources. Nice touch with freeze frames when hitting enemies too!

Wave Machine by Sciman101 2020-04-22T04:38:01Z

This is great! Last time I played a rhythm game was on my Vita, so my timing was pretty off

Sometimes the contrast with the white bar and the other colors on screen made it difficult to realize another beat was coming, but that's also probably on me and I should get used to the bg a little more

Anyways, rad game, makes me wanna play more rhythm games :sob:

Cosmic Felk is Dead! Long Live Cosmic Felk! by Qazikol 2020-04-22T20:48:33Z

Dang, this is such a good game. All the jokes land so well, all the characters (even the player character) have such distinct personalities, the art and music is fantastic, and it's the perfect length for a jam game :raised_hands:

Space Ranger by LuCecyl 2020-04-21T01:13:55Z

A neat game, really enjoyed the look and feel of the art. Having the controls tutorial at the beginning was nice touch to!

If I had to make one recommendation It'd be to allow for rotation via keyboard, I had trouble getting the hang of the controls (a lot of it is on me, since I only used a track pad, but using A/D would be make this easier to play for people who lack a proper mouse)

Whisper of the Flame by Zachary Rodrigue 2020-04-21T02:53:46Z

I really liked it! The art is pretty top notch, and the music was nice and old school feeling (if a bit short of loop)

If I could recommend an improvement, level checkpointing would be a great feature to add!

Anyways, awesome game! :fire:

Dreadful Sanity - A Ludum Dare Game Jam Game by misterG420 2020-04-22T04:48:22Z

Fantastic work! The timer really made a difference in making searching for the way out feel frantic! The art and interactives (like the flashlight) really helped set the mood :skull:

Cube Breakout by TailMaker 2020-04-21T20:55:48Z

Really dig the music, gives me vague memories of some of the low-key tracks in Trigun.

The lighting and the fixed camera angle in the entry room was pretty good, indirect lighting really helps set up a scene (another example being the lighting pouring in from below in the actual levels).

It feels neat controlling a box with a box collider (especially when you really get going :race_car: ), but it can sometimes feel unwieldy. I'd recommend keeping the box mesh but changing its box collider to a sphere collider, which would make movement a little more predictable and consistent.

Anyways, good stuff! :triumph:

Heart on my sleeve by Bisvilla 2020-04-22T04:29:42Z

A pretty neat game, it took me a little while to get the hang of the controls but after a bit it came quite naturally. :fire: I did have trouble here and there messing up my throws, but the checkpoints are frequent enough that it never meant too long of a set back. Unlocking shortcuts was also a good addition for this.

If I could make one recommendation it'd be to increase the size of the flame's view just a bit, sometimes I needed to throw them into the air and guess where the torches would be.

Anyways, cool game!

Kindle and Egg by OceanNoodlesCreates 2020-04-20T22:30:36Z

A very sweet game! Got a good amount of interactivity, really liked the art too. Really dig that moving platform puzzle in the 2nd stage. If I could recommend something it'd be music/sfx, and maybe some checkpointing for the 2nd level (I was so close to the end  )

How to Air by kwaku 2020-04-20T23:17:06Z

Interesting game, got to the syringe puzzle, then I tried breaking the neon sign and got a fatal error? Sorry I neglected to write down what the error was, but this game is pretty rad.

Dig the presentation and art, especially the circular level! :white_circle:

Paranoid Programmer by Flyken 2020-04-20T22:39:59Z

The mood that your game gives in the beginning is promising! Especially the lighting, and that lengthy hallway at the back of the office. I could see this being a neat experience with more time and a more fleshed out office space.

Space Shield by Infinite 2020-04-21T01:23:45Z

This game's production value, music, UI, it's all great! I like the strategy that comes with placing shielding at different points along your ship in advance of different sized asteroids flying on screen.

If I could make one recc, allow users to switch shields via Dpad so they could switch to a lower level shield without cycling through all of them to get to it, and also for shields to remain in place once the stick is released so you don't change the position of shields when cycling through to a smaller one.

Anyways an amazing looking game, awesome job! :rocket:

Unknown Events by Tomskiev 2020-04-21T00:40:55Z

Pretty good visuals, the game could use a bit more feedback on player input (sometimes it was hard to tell if my tapping was having an impact or if I was doing it wrong). I accidentally slipped out of bounds here and there too, that's no big deal

With a little more polish this could be a pretty good maintenance simulation. Although I haven't played FTL I feel like this is similar to the core loop of that game. Good job!

HOME by dconn537 2020-04-21T00:53:18Z

Really diggin the art, and the upgrade system is a nice touch! Might of missed something but the limited ammo kinda made things hard down the road, but that's part of the gameplay (and I was firing pretty willy-nilly so that's probs on me  )

I think this game could do well if the player could move along the y-axis too, gives more opportunities for players to reposition and target enemies.

Anyways, rad game!
