Good game! You should make it harder by not allowing people to place holes on top of other holes!

muchobestostudio 2020-04-21 19:46

It's too bad that you start lately because your game contains a simple but very interesting gameplay. I hope that you will improve it because you got something.

owen-rees 2020-04-22 08:04

I really like the music and sound effects although I found it quite tricky trying to get the character to walk in the correct direction. I love the artstle and seeing as you started late this is a great entry. Good job!

generictoast 2020-04-22 16:39

Neat gameplay and nice music/sfx! I found the best strategy was to just box the gumball in so there wasn't anywhere else they could go

This game looks amazing, I can't believe you started on Sunday and finished something this good!

eva 2020-04-22 17:22

Thanks everyone! @generictoast but were you able to get points that way?

generictoast 2020-04-22 17:26

@eva oh i didn't really pay attention to the points haha. I was too busy focusing on keeping the gumball alive

ruby0x1 2020-04-22 20:26

I liked it!

kimkillaqueen 2020-04-22 20:33

I got a 3!

Gosh I dig the look and vibe of this game so much. Amazing that you were able to make something this polished looking in an even shorter time frame.

Letting players choose the tile, add ramps, and increasing the map size could make this a full on puzzle game down the road!

eckkert 2020-04-23 04:22

It took me a while to realize that the block placement was randomized, but then it occurred to me that I could always select the tile I wanted by quickly clicking over and over. Interesting concept and good execution.

ava-skoog 2020-04-23 13:31

I like it! Took a while to get any good at this but I kept getting better! 💪 Lots of tension sometimes when you're scrambling to get the tile you want or walk off a ledge. 😱 Cute graphics as always and nice music that fits the walk cycle~

rujo 2020-04-23 14:52

nice puzzle game with a clean and polished looking style! it's very hard but also challenging, 4 points it's my actual record XD I suggest a mobile version for it, I think it could work well!

claybro2021 2020-04-24 02:32

I really dig the vibe. The soundtrack makes me feel like i need sunglasses on and a leather jacket. Gumball looks like a really chill dude so I tried to keep him alive for as long as I could but he just kept dying. I never know which way he will turn! DON'T DIE GUMBALL.

The interface was a little confusing at first (i didnt realize it was randomized) but after i figured that out it was fun. Nice game! Started on Sunday, whaaaaaat!?

eva 2020-04-24 09:05

@claybro2021 Haha yes! That's what I was going for with the music. Tip for anyone playing: Gumball always turns clockwise

laura-del-pino 2020-04-25 18:00

Nice game!! Quite random bu I liked the music and the graphics <3

daniel-cox 2020-04-25 23:05

Beautiful low-poly assets and the sounds match the mood incredibly. For the future, I might add a time slider (maybe even letting you pause for a couple seconds) and a bit more reliable control of the land. Very impressive for what is essentially a compo game.

rustywolf 2020-04-26 08:52

Hard to work out how to progress with the random block placement. There were losses where I didnt get the piece I needed as quickly as I needed it. Lovely art, sound and the gameplay has a lot of potential. Good work.

gamechoy 2020-04-26 14:54

Great entry! The graphics and audio were great and the gameplay was fun. Nice work!

hexiez123 2020-04-26 16:53

Amazing graphics and music, the game is very charming in its simplicity of what you can actually do. I wish there was a way to see which blocks would change a few seconds before the actually did. Overall amazing job.

kerri 2020-04-26 20:11

Since he always turns clockwise it'd be nice for him to start on the left to give people a bit more time to find the second block when they start. Otherwise he's only one square away from falling off. And I'd like to have a queue that shows what the next couple of blocks will be. Great job though, particularly with the art and music!

eva 2020-04-27 01:07

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

szupinek 2020-05-03 13:28

Nice entry! Respect that you did this all by yourself. I adore the graphics. Game by itself is pretty challenging at first, but hey, that's what makes games fun.

runuchok 2020-05-06 05:52

Graphics are very tasteful) Gameplay a bit simple. I missing a way to control where "pac man" will turn)

eva 2020-05-06 05:57

@runuchok Thanks for playing! You can make them turn 90 degrees clockwise by placing a wall in front of their path.

khaoz-fang 2020-05-06 06:35

Really love the gameplay. The randomized events in fact contributed a lot to its fun. This also issued some problems such as a hole suddenly opens wide beneath your feet and your sight is being blocked by a wall, but it's fixable with some visual tips. Overall, it's simple but fun.

rroni 2020-05-06 07:09

I like it!

juice-lizard 2020-05-06 07:28

I like the graphics, but maybe the colors are not bright enough. The gamplay is interesting, but maybe you could try to make other versions of this game with other rules, other mechanics. It could be even better in my point of view. I feel it missed very fiew to become a really good game.

vernalbehemoth 2020-05-06 07:30

Really enjoyed playing this, nicely done on the graphics and audio, like you have said the randomness of the tile placement is a little frustrating but it was still very enjoyable.

Great entry!

ryzy27 2020-05-06 15:24

Game looks awesome. I dig this style!

Gameplay-wise it was a bit frustrating for me, as I wasn't sure what I will place when clicking on the tile. Sometimes it would be ground, sometimes wall and sometimes hole, which I don't think I should be placing at all anyway, as it's only purpose is to kill the player.

Just a minor nitpick really, the mechanic itself is great and could be really fun if added few interactive elements and maybe procedural generation, so that you can move in any direction by buliding floor there.

Keep it up! Cheers!

nothoughts 2020-05-06 19:01

i like music on this game so much, ty for interesting 10 minutes

jared-york 2020-05-07 02:54

Simple and enjoyable! I really like the art as well. Someone else mentioned that perhaps could be slightly improved with some brighter colors, however it's great overall. I did encounter a weird where the player would get stuck under the spikes with no gameover state: Screenshot from 2020-05-06 22-53-14.png

Overall, I think this game is really fun! I could totally see it become a mobile game or something as well.

runuchok 2020-05-07 03:18

@eva Yeah, but it's always right turn)) I really want to choose would it be right or left, sometimes it's crucial! But maybe it start to be more complicated with controls!

yxmx-rsx 2020-05-07 03:38

I love your art style and the isometric view. I was a bit confused at first on how to play, but I eventually got it. It could use a small tutorial. Overall, its a neat game.

eva 2020-05-07 06:02

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Listening to all of it!

@juice-lizard Definitely want to brighten up the colors if I work on it again.

@jared-york Interesting. I move the character below the ground when they're dead and sometimes you can see them through the holes in the ground. If you can click to restart, then it's the game over state working as intended, but not communicated.

@runuchok Ah that makes sense. I wanted to create more tiles you could place that had different movement properties, like a moving walkway, so you could have a little bit more control.

guladam 2020-05-10 12:51

A great game, I really enjoyed it. However, I would suggest eliminating some of the RNG from the game so the players can feel more impactful when it comes to their actions.

Nevertheless, I liked I very much. :)
