I You should make sure to test your webGL build with different browsers. In Firefox i had a pretty bad glitch, where the main area of the game was only black and purple (Like missing textures), reloading did not help.(Chromium worked though) UI, mini-map and the intro were fine and looked adorable. The music was nice, but the loop could have been better. Since you asked for tips: you probably should also include pictures on your LudumDare site, as well as providing a Windows,Mac and Linux build in case WebGL does break. Also look up how the scoring works on the LudumDare site, you need to play and rate other games to get *your* game to show up in the game lists. In short: if you and your team don't rate games, you won't get many ratings yourselves. Anyway the game was nice and naming your pet is a nice touch. ~ugghmaster form @WeAreDev

Thank you for being helpful :v: We appreciate it

That was so flipping cute dude. Loved that you get to name the dragon. Loved the initial cutscene in all it's cute and silly glory. The gameplay itself was fun, naming the dragon made me invested, which made me want to make it grow, which make me want to play the game to the end. Some additions could be a mobility ability to make combat more interesting, allowing for more creativity in the player side. Overall, good game!

HTML5 worked well for me in Firefox. I enjoyed the game a lot, the graphics are wonderful and the gameplay was fun. I guess growing a baby dragon might not be the best idea after all, but it sure was cute!

So cute! I really liked the whole balancing aspect of the game, with having to keep your health up and the dragon's hunger down, and always having to remember your way back to the castle before freezing to death. More combat options would be nice too!

This game was very cute! I liked the graphics, and the ending was very fun!

ilprinny 2020-04-22 02:58

the Dragon is adorable, he was the most precious boi, including the wholesome ending! I like the charge attack but when I got later on I noticed I couldn't just tap if for a small shot, which I ended up doing quite a few times, usually it would leave me standing out there like a goof ball as I got smashed by magic unicorns, I did get used to always charging the shot tho. I found hunting Unicorns to be quite fun, it felt a little silly in a good way to be eating unicorn horns, it lightened the atmosphere quite a bit in my opinion. The progression of the dragon and ending where really well done as well! Good stuff.

Amazing game, probably one of my favorites so far. I played the whole game through and especially loved the aspect of the two relying on each other. How Haze(The name of my dragon) couldn't survive if I didn't give him apples, and I couldn't survive without his warmth. Very creative, also I enjoyed the combat quite a bit, it felt very satisfying and had a surprising amount of strategy to it. When I saw that it was going to cost 25 to level him up again I was about to lose it, but it turned out to not be that bad. Also the intro in the beginning was so adorable! And the ending was amazing too! At first I thought the dragon had turned on me, but then it just turned out that we destroyed the world together, a much more realistic outcome! Loved it, thank you so much for the experience.

Edit: I forgot to mention something, FIX THE MENU! The font in the menu really detracted from the feel of the game. Maybe handwriting it like you did in the intro would have been a good idea. But don't worry, the rest of the game was so good it won't detract from your rating!

Edit 2: I keep forgetting things. Anyways I just wanted to say the music also added a lot to the game, really tied the mood together.

I loved this game, it was really fun and super cute! Really wish it was a touch less difficult, but that could be me being bad at it n.n

I loved this game! I felt a little weird hurting cute pink unicorns, but the ending explained that a little bit better. You guys did a great job all across the board. The gameplay was fun and a good challenge but it always felt fair. The wand is really satisfying to use. If I had to give feedback on something, I'd say it would be nice of the unicorns telegraphed that they were about to attack, but really whenever I got hit I felt like it was my fault for playing too aggressively. Thanks for sharing!

Really cool game! The combat was fun and got more engaging as your progressed through the game. I do think that ultimately the game ended up being a little repetitive, and could use a couple extra mechanics that would make it more engaging. Or it could be cut down a bit.

Either way, I enjoyed playing it.

One tiny thing: I almost missed out on the ending cutscene because I didn't realize I had to click to move it forward. A little thing that said "click to continue" or something would probably be good.

kimkillaqueen 2020-04-22 03:30

Oh gosh this game is so cute! Managed to reach the end (after some real close calls too!).

the art (especially the dragon) looks super cute, and the gameplay was just enough to be engaging, especially keeping the dragon fed and while also extending your reach for resources. Nice touch with freeze frames when hitting enemies too!

Dang. Cute, responsive, interesting gameplay trade-offs, forgiving control markers, fitting level design, adherence to the theme, polish?! You guys really made it happen here, huh? If I were to turn this into something more, maybe I'd incentivize going out for longer periods of time by making the time you can spend away from the dragon less but making the rainbow puddles heal you a bit and then disappear? That way, those puddles (which also hepled me as markers), are suddenly part of another interesting risk-reward situation, similar to many of the other micro-management situations in Responsbility. Rudimentary polishing suggestions include varying sound effects (maybe with a simple randomizer that slightly changes their pitch every time that they're played), adding different types of Unicorns or spells with each upgrade... It doesn't really NEED any of that, though, which is why your game was so nice to play - it felt like an experience with a direction, and one that was communicated well to me as the player: "I know what I'm doing" is what it told me upon first glance. The naming at the start was a really simple and cute way to get me invested, especially given the time frame of a Jam game and in comparison to the investment level that other entires tend (and are expected) to elicit. Well done.

Super cute game! I really liked feeding the dragon and fueling him up! Mabe a walk anumation on the unicorns would have been nice?

bluemirror 2020-04-23 06:09

To all of you that took their time to play the game and even go the extra mile to give some feedback, thank you guys so much really means a lot!

@ilprinny thank you for the insight on problems you had and on things you enjoyed, we appreciate it! Really helpful stuff!

@honey-pony Good point! Adding more mechanics wasnt in scope for the jam, therefore making it shorter in time would have been the best decision to make. Thank you a lot for the feedback and suggestion!

@roey-shap thank you a lot for the feedback and suggestions. There is so much you mentioned and it's all helpful!

masterpose 2020-04-24 01:20

Please make a full game about this, you could even add levels riding the dragon. This is one of my favorite games of the jam 5/5

lamossus 2020-04-24 06:21

Wow what a great game! The pacing is really nice, the game doesn't feel repetitive and ends just at the right time. The graphics are really good. The sound is generally good but feels same-y when you repeat action multiple times. Like other suggested maybe add random pitch change or multiple sounds that can play during certain actions And I think you have a bug with volume control. I made volume lower in the main menu but in game it went back to default value, so I had to do it again
