The text in the tutorial is very hard to read, a dark, single color background would help. How large screen do I need to see the whole window? I think something at the bottom of the screen is not showing on my laptop screen. I can't make any units, perhaps some button is not showing? My laptops resolution is 1366x768.
@octahedronsoftware Ok...I will make a quick hotfixes to solve this problem. If you want to create units, you need first selected unit card on the button and then left click the light blue block on the map.
@astropower Ok, I got it working. I did not notice the light blue blocks earlier. First I want to say that its cool that you made a strategy game for the jam. It was interesting to figure out the first level after I understood how to make units. I found the following levels easier since you have more money in them.
Now a couple of problems: I had a bug where sometimes two instances of the music start playing. The ground texture of the snow map is so bright it is kind of hard on the eyes. While creating units I once got this error: ___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Step Eventobj_deserMinion for object obj_Minion:
Variable obj_deserMinion.state(100039, -2147483648) not set before reading it. at gml_Object_obj_Minion_Collision_obj_deserMinion ############################################################################################ gml_Object_obj_Minion_Collision_obj_deserMinion (line -1)
@octahedronsoftware Thanks for your patience, I have made an update to fix these bugs. You can check it if you want.

This is a really neat concept, but it's very unintuitive to play. I think with bigger text and a larger window resolution would honestly go a long way here.
Was confused at what to do. maybe if the game was more zoomed out so you could see everything to being with that would be good. I also found I could just spawn a bunch of the fast unit and then win because they could get to the end before they all died.
Let me start by saying I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. My first impression was let down a bit by the first level being a stumbling block. I'd recommend a bit more starting gene for that (then again, figuring this out is a good puzzle, so maybe it's best left alone or put later in the game.).
Level 2 onwards, my strategy was pretty much the same; spawn a handful the 4th card tanks, then once they start getting close to danger, spawn the level one drones to draw away the turrets firepower so the tanks can destroy the turrets. Maybe that's a bit cheap of me, but I think that's the nature of strategy games, to figure out a strategy, as it were.
It wasn't until the last few levels that I really made use of the right mouse button. I tried it in the first few levels and it didn't seem to work. What I had to learn was that all minions head towards it, and it goes away as soon as any of them touch it. Using this, I was able to give the slow tanks a much better route to attack by, and then swarm the drones as normal.
So yeah, give this a bit of polish and you might really have something good here.

Small texts are difficult to read considering the low resolution display, Hermos costs 1 mechanical gene instead of 5 as the description says so.
I also get the error message when i deploy Thunder(something idk) and Corruptor in level 1 and it looks like this: ___________________________________________ ############################################################################################ ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event0 for object obj_Corrupt:
Unable to find instance for object index -4 at gml_Object_obj_Corrupt_Step_0 ############################################################################################ gml_Object_obj_Corrupt_Step_0 (line -1)
There's more to improve but i believe what i've mentioned is the most obvious improvements needed.
@bgdc Thanks for your bug report, I will make a update to fix it!
Cool game!

Nice game! Its quite fun to play and I love that you made a level editor. good job
the virus scanner wouldnt let me play the game it quarantined it. sry
You really got this done during the gamejam? It's really well done! Nice classic looking graphics. I just really like the feel of the game as well. Congrats on getting this game to this state!
@david-bohan Yes, of course. All the code and graphic are built in gamejam.
Hello. Thank you for your rating. I would like to play your project in order to rate it too, but my antivirus said to me that there is potential threat. I don't understand what it means. Please fix problem. I will come back ++
Took me a bit to figure out how to build my mechs. Suggestion: Start the camera looking at the blocks you spawn your units from, not the goal.
Cheers! [-LB](https://ldjam.com/users/the-lame-brain/)
@the-lame-brain Thanks for your suggestion!

The game music jumpscared me when i opened it up. It took me quite a while to figure the game out and it is fun if you try to invest more time into it. I'd suggest to integrate a tutorial, it would make the game two times better. The "Unsteable" theme is a bit weak but i think the game could really improve and there is so much stuff to do. It surprised it was done in so little time. Good job!
This is a cool concept. I find the colors don't all go together well though, and some of the font is hard to read. But is definitely a cool strategy game to build on.

Nice game, especially considering, if I read your itch.io correctly, that it's your first LD, that you made it alone and that you are a HS student! Particularly since you had to deal with the design, code and graphics yourself.
The overall result is though kinda hard to understand, both at first and when you are actually playing since the action can be kinda confusing. The stable/unstable dichotomy feels kind of an addition than a core part of the gameplay. Nice job on producing all those assets, even though the color scheme is sometimes clashing.
I commend your work on this, though I can't say it's my favourite, I still think it's a solid entry especially knowing its context of production!
It is very tricky to understand how to play, even with the instructions. I guess the main problem is that the spawner tile is not visible in the first screen, the screen seems cutted and there are a lot other blue squares.
I think the main aspects that should be considered are the difficulty of understanding the concept (which affects the user game experience, and may make some players just quit) and the graphic part, which seems by the comments that other people had the screen cut.
Anyway, it's a path of constant study and progress. Congrats on developing a strategy game within the time constraint of the jam. It certainly wasn't easy.

Fun game! It was really hard though. I couldn't get that far. Next time you should have a tutorial so that I don't have to teach myself how to play. Overall 8/10 nice job.
@derek-volker Thanks for your advice.
I think the text can be improve upon so it's easier on the eyes to read. There's a few interesting mechanics that when build upon I think will be a blast to play through even if it's a little bit harder to understand even with the tutorials. I would consider to try simplify it, and then try to build upon that area.
Strategy games aren't easy especially considering it's a game jam entry. Huge props for that :) (Also apologies to be seen so harsh on your game -- I feel that there's a core mechanic deep down that is interesting, it just need to be flesh upon to make it shine so hopefully my comments helps for your future games!)

I loved this "drawing" art style like. I also liked playing the game. And developing a User Content feature for a jam was tottaly awesome!
@shade2810 Thanks for your advice.

I liked the idea. The text for me was behind some cards, and I had no indicator on what minion I was spawning. I wish the minion I selected changed colors on the card or maybe the card stayed up. That said, I liked the theme, but the second level feels impossible haha.

Liked the graphs,gj!
I like the game but I really struggled to read the text! Overall a cool concept though, and I had fun! Congrats on your entry, I enjoyed it :)
@tom-stephenson Thanks for your feedback, I will make an update to solve text display issue. :)
@cukeds Thanks for your advice.

Nice entry, cool idea, fitting to the theme. I had my fair share of problems with setting the flag, because hardly ever my units were following my flag and if they did so, they decided to not do it anymore quite fastly. The visuals are fitting the game and the audio is really catchy and driving. Overal Good Job!
This is an interesting strategy game, however level 3 is pretty hard already for a noob like me. The letters and numbers on the tutorial and on the machine cards are pretty hard to read though. Also I think the background color is a bit too vivid and may cause some irritating feelings when looking at the screen too long, I suggest u make the saturation lower, or make it a solid color instead of chessboard pattern.
@sandra-martinez thanks for your advice

Very impressive to make a strategy game like this in a single weekend! And for your first LD jam? Congrats!
I agree with what most of the others have said, the text can be hard to read, and it can be difficult to figure out how to play. After that, the gameplay experience and the strategy component are solid.
You've made a fun game, now you just have to make it easier for your players to get to the fun. Keep it up! I'm excited to see what you do next jam.
@mhorth Thanks for your feedback!:)

Pretty cool game, difficulty ramps up nicely, however I wish the mechanical gene could be replenished instead of getting only a finite amount for the whole level. Also I love that you implemented a level editor as well (although couldn't figure out how to actually place stuff down). Nice entry
cool one
Got to the third level where most of the enemy units started bugging out. It was pretty chaotic but nice work on being able to get an editor done for the jam!
Thank you for good experience! I love it!
I finally managed to finish the gameplays and uploaded the game session for this game. I hope you like it and that my comments can be understood as those most interested in enabling improvements to the project.
Thank you for requesting this gameplay!
