This game is a definition of developer life ^^
Wow this game hits close to home :D You did a really good job on coming up with the scenarios. I hovever missed the sound that would have rounded the whole experience. And it war hard to predict which answer will give me what. The first time I played I ended up low on money and I seemed to pick only the wrong answers, because neither of them seemed like it would give me money.
But this is a really good game for the time frame given!
I laughed. But I went bankrupt due partying all the time. What can I say, it's hard to refuse a good ol' drink.
True story about game development :D Will be cool to have some sounds and may be some more events to earn money
Cool game. All the options are true :D
Cool game! I think this game has potential! Play quite interesting! And the graphics are good!
Hi! @ougrouk Great game! It's really funny!
You know developer life for sure ;)
PS. Loli anime and junk food?? Are you stalking me?
PS.2 There is a little use of theme in the game
I'm bankrupt :( Funny little game and art! At first i thought he is constantly farting...
This game could use some music! But I get why, because I had the same problem - but in this game ;) I went bankrupt by hiring a sound designer...
95% done and got a heart attack ...my life story. this game is highly relatable - It would of been nice to have some sound to go with it! good work
Love the humour, love the pixel art, agree with previous post it would only be enhanced by some audio - really cool game :-)
This game is too relatable and the pixel art s great.
Highly relatable  Nice pixel art!
Funny and good narrative game! Good idea, this game just need a bit more pixels and details on the design side! Well done.
I laugh! Very funny, just missed the audio! Also, I totally thought that the phone ringing animation was a farting animation, even though it wasn't I laugh so hard hahahahahaahah
Very funny, nice little game! I happy I had the chance to make a game Twice in the same week! Good luck I loved it.
A black comedy game! Damn, now I'm bankrupt - I knew I shouldn't have hired that Sound Designer!
Cool animations and an interesting story. Thanks for the HTML option :) My only critique was that it was easy to misclick, so I chose a couple of options that I did not intend. Overall a cool game.
Yup, that about sums it up. It took me a few attempts to finish my game... just like in real life. ;)
final.png haha ! I've finish the game at last ! Several retry but now i'm an accomplish indie dev :p 32 days early than the deadline ;) ! Great game and idea and it's a good picture of indie games development :)
I'm bankrupt, my tenant kicked me out. Game over.
I wasn't sure if the options reacted to my clicks, or if I just had to wait. Loved the cat, what's its name?
really cool idea, it was really fun to play but i think it should show how much you will lose of your stats on the option
Cool idea and fun, and I died. BTW, I like the cat, it's cute.
I really enjoyed this. When I got kicked out the first time I played it again to win the second time so it kept me hooked! Loved the retro style graphics and the procedural element. I found the options funny and interesting and you didn't make it too hard or too long to play through. Really cleverly done. Nice entry! -RS
Who needs music, right? ;)
Rather stale theme and execution of the theme in my opinion, but graphics are nice and the fact that you've managed to do it in compo time restrictions is encouraging.
Love the writing in this game, so sad that there was no music or sound effects tho. Would have really made it a better experience.
Every dev needs a cat. Very nice use of the theme, maybe it lacks "at what cost" endings (you shipped your game but... you have no friend left / you had to move to your folks home, etc). I dig the pixely aesthetics. Too bad there is no sound.
Very relatable game, liked it a lot. Nice pixel art and use of theme. Would have been good to have some audio and preview for consequences of choices.
Cool game with good humour) Although, a good music and not-repeating events are required.
unknown[1].png hehhe, pretty funny game.
So I bankrupt :-D And then again.... It might be a really nice mirror to all of those that are participating in the indie/game dev industry (but not only there). You have used the theme nicely and in an original way. It would be great if you could manage to implement some music/sounds/effects. Overall nice entry.
While the concept is interesting and the mechanics of balancing several aspects of one's life works very well, i personally think the game deserved a little more polishing, not in the aspect of graphics (which i imagine the highly pixelated sprites are more an aspect of design decision) but in the way the choices are presented to the player.
The pros and cons of each decision, in my opinion, should be listed, even if it simple like (+welfare, -finance) after the choice ou really precise (+10 welfare, -15 finance). The lack of sounds also degrades the player experience.
That said, it is interesing to use the game as a reflection of what we are sacrificing in order to develop games. Reality hits hard.
Good job!
Pretty neat game. The graphics and atmosphere are good for a "what would you do" style game, though a little mood music or audio would've been nice. Even if it was just lonely keystroke audio.
It'd have been nice to have a little feedback on what each decision would do from a cost perspective. Since the end result seems to be contingent upon keeping your resources above zero, partial information about at least the financial and welfare resource would have been good. Keeping the total results of an action hidden is still probably a good idea. I managed to tweet my way to a game over screen once because I assumed it would have no real cost.
The decisions asked of the player are good, and I'd say the game captures how dangerous indie developer life is. Was pretty funny too, for what is ultimately a tough way of life for some. If the project was to continue, it'd be cool to see some end screens about the game's reception and the developer's well-being.
Cool game, good job!
Interesting concept and relatable game hahaha
Really cool to play, I had a good time playing it :)
Who needs music? hahahaha, that's what happened to us. The game was very funny. Nothing special gameplay wise but It has charm and the options were fun to read. It is difficult to notice the numbers on the bottom left, didn't care much about them and won anyway. For one side its cool that it is easy(usually game jam tittles are hellish) by the other hand I would have given more importance and visibility to this stats.
Great game! :D Yeah, the stats should be exposed at the beginning and it's a pity there is no more outcome at the end - whether the game was succesful or not :D But anyway, really great scenarios!
I love how there's so much content in the game, I just wish there were more mechanics. Nice job!
Very cool idea (there is always a meta-game about making games in LD, isn't there?), but still needs some polishing: just adding some sound effects for the dev hitting on the keyboard and the cellphone ringing would make a world of difference! Also, maybe give some hints about how the options may change the different currencies? Sometimes I could not really connect my choice with the currency change that happened: adding some "result" text would be fantastic.
I hope you keep working on this game!
Simple concept, simple controls, simple to understand. Very nice idea and the simplicity allowed me to just jump in and play. However it can be deceiving, I lost despite ending up having 108% dev done because I didnt go into early access, which simultaneously left me with no cash. This is clearly on me since I had wasted a lot of cash to further development (I still had a month of game time left!). Definitely something you can iterate on, fun, simple yet not "easy". Think ahead. Also the dialogue alone is enough to carry this game even without the depth it clearly has. I love that my bad choices can lead me to fail, and frankly as a dev, a lot of this hits close to home! xD
This one was so much fun! I loved the graphics and the story the most, great take on the Your life is currency theme! By the way, bonus points for the cat. :D
Yeah.... every Indie starts should be compared to Peter Parker... a commom intern working for a not to well paid job, to arrive about 7pm as a looser into the apartment with all the bills above the carpet, and then wears a ridiculous costume of spiderman to break some ribs, lose an eye, maybe twist the 2 ankles and then return at 2am to finish homework, sleep at 3am, to awake 5am and start all over again ... for the rest of your fucking life ... without hope and dreams ...
Awesome entry, i know that feeling bro ...
This is too real man. Too real. Shame there is no music or sfx, really miss that. I also would like a bit more personality with the dialogue, like knowing who is talking to me. And also some feedback as to what do I lose after each choice. Nice game though, a good effort imo
This was quite fun to play and even made me laugh a few times. I also like the pixel art graphics.
