The game was a bit confusing at first but after I understood the mechanics it became much easier. Spice didn't really feel like a problem, I always had a lot of it. I didn't really feel like I was running out of space either

Really hard to understand at first, but once you get it.

@lamossus @manusaiz yea, thanks, I'll add some hints to describe mechanics more clearly. Initial idea was to break hexes after fire (lighthouses), but it figured out to be not very playable =)
Game could of done with a tutorial but otherwise was really cool. Nice little puzzle game with good graphics and mechanics!
Funny! I love how you cover up a basic premise with the huge comedic twist of SPACE COWS!!! At least you didn't make it Space Cows 2 (like another developer I know...)
Fun graphics and mechanics in this clicking nightmare! The mechanics are pretty simple to understand, yet it quickly became a click challenge as the shadows come closer at a desperate rhythm. Had a really good time playing it.

Despite the description being there and giving info about the game I still found the game to be a bit confusing. Especially at the beginning. But after playing a while I got the hang of it and managed to understand it. It turned out to be a challenging little game which actually requires some thinking. The graphics are okay and the sound effects are nice.
Overall, this game needs a little more information about the gameplay. Aside from that it was a nice game. I had fun playing it!
Had pretty much the same experience as the other commenters, didn't understand it in the beginning, but once I got the hang of it it was really fun.
Very cool game, I love graphics ! :-)
Fun mechanics! )

@fingamer @gaweringo @rob-parker @flashviper @derek-volker Thanks for feedback! I tried to make it more visually understandable, but it seems it’s not enough. I don’t really like tutorials, it slows down the beginning. Without tutorial it’s tries and fails but with action;)
I enjoyed this, took a few attempts to figure out what I was doing, but seemed to get there in the end. I like the art style, though was disappointed in the lack of music. The game could do with some better balancing as the challenge seems to escalate a little too quickly. A bit more depth to the mechanics would improve this (maybe a third type of tile you can place?) but not bad for a weekend jam game.
I made it 135 months. I feel like that's pretty good :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I like the simple, effective art style and I appreciate the subtle animations as well :) It helps a lot.

Great job! You did a really entertaining game and when you get it, it becomes addictive. I like the pixel art style and the sound effects. The only think i missed is some background music. As a suggestion, it would be great have some kind of scoreboard of you previous attempts, to make it even more addictive. Overall, a great entry , cograts!!
Very fun game. Though, I have to agree with what others already have pointed out, it was very confusing at first. It got pretty addictive once I got the hang of it. Overall, good job!

Eventually figured out how to keep it going, made it to 178 months. It was very hard to get the initial spice collection started and make a ring of fire around the hut, but once it was there it was sustainable if I paid attention. What was the algorithm behind how the darkness moved? Great connection to the theme, thanks for making this game!

@mgoadric "What was the algorithm behind how the darkness moved?" The algorithm is simple - it picks random hex adjacent to shadow hex =)

@paula Yea! It will be great to have online leaderboards at the end. I'll definitely think about it.
