Great idea! Mix of platforming with making decisions about the level was quite fun :D Ran into a bug or two but great execution!

Awesome concept, can be a pretty cool full game, nice art and overall,I found myself stuck between two card, but nice work anyway !
Wow a very awesome concept, and nice graphics and music to boot.
Some minor things, but the character hit box felt a bit too big, and made some of the platforming around the spikes a bit more frustrating than I think it should have been.
Also the lack of any form of penalty for hitting the spikes made the spikes that more annoying, since it meant they essentially only wasted time, and generally I most enjoyed the puzzle nature of this game compared to the pixel accurate platforming stuff.
Anyway those are obviously nitpicks. Overall this game is fantastic! Great stuff!
Very similar to my idea! Platformer + Card Game! I guess great minds think alike, haha.
It's so cool!I really like your idea! And the graphics are great!
Very cool idea and the execution is even better.
I had some trouble with floaty controls and spikes hitbox (and you can abuse respawn).
However, the puzzles were good and the concept great. Graphics were of nice quality, and the fact the the cards have different backgrounds etc gives a really good overall feel.
It would be nice if you could work just a little on it after the jam to polish and reach more people!
Interesting entry.
The idea is really cool! I like puzzles and to shuffle cards to figure out what to do. But platforming requires tuning. Also some cards seem unpassable because of spikes. As said before you can abuse death (it spawns you at unreachable places). Music and art style are awesome. Good job!
This was a fun game to play! I liked the graphics and the mechanics are really neat; I could see this successfully turned into a full-fledged game. Aside from some refining of the movement, the only thing that bothered me was that the music was much too loud for an extended period of time. Other than that, this game was great!
Very cool concept! Nice music, cool pixel art aesthetic. I guess the platformer bits might need just that extra bit of work but what you have here is still solid. Another gripe are the cards where you get repeats all too often. All in all great work!
It's really good idea, the art and music are awesome. Love your work!
Amazing entry! If it wasn't for the not super polished platforming controller I would see this game as a full fledged itch.io game. Make the controller smoother, make the hitboxes better looking and this game can actually become a great hit. Would definitely buy it if the platforming felt as good as, an example, "The end is nigh"'s. Also love that it adds some puzzles into the mix! Congrats on a very good idea execution!
Nice idea! I like how the placement of the objects can make you think of how to use your cards in interesting ways. I just with the controls were tighter, but right now jumping feels floaty and it makes the jumps difficult.
You guys should rate more and also advertise this release way more - there's a lot to like here, especially the screen-wrapping is super nicely done. The core idea's amazing, the visuals are great and the music is not too shabby. :smiley_cat:
Here are my nitpicks (in addition to those mentioned in your original post): * the platforming is way too floaty and not very enjoyable, especially for precision-based jumping * the player should probably lose the sword on death, at least until they 'finish' a screen (the way it's the player may happen to fall to their demise and yet get the sword and still keep it scot-free * if it's going for more of a puzzle-based approach, leaving RNG out-of it would probably be a good idea - a few times I was just 'refreshing' the cards to get the specific I wanted
I could definitely imagine this being a cool puzzler, each level providing a few given cards (and requiring to smash an orb once or something like that).
This game looks amazing and I think it's got a great potential! Even though it's pretty buggy right now (couldn't smash the orb even though I had the sword, got stuck between spikes that kept respawning me no matter what I tried to do, etc) it's till fun to play. I'm looking forward to a finished version of this!
Really liked the concept, was very inovative. I find that when you exit via the right side sometimes the character disappears and dont return anymore and was a little catchy to get use of the jumping mechanics, but overall it was a pleasant experience.
Very nice creation. I Love the graphism, the music and the concept.
Really cool idea!
I think I got stuck off the top of the screen when jumping off the right of the screen to try to reach a high ledge and had to restart a couple of times, but other than that this was really awesome!
Lovely graphics, challenging game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzOZLoFym_o
Amazing combination of three styles..platform, cards and puzzle. I loved it. I had difficulty only understanding where the cards would be used. Congratulations for the game.
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.

Such a great concept. I found the gameplay to be a bit slow, and got stuck on the playing cards a lot. I think changing the terrain by playing the cards is an innovative idea, but I think it needs a little polish so that cards can work next to each other a bit more easily. Overall this is an extremely impressive effort, and is already very good. I'd like to see this developed further. Congratulations on making a fine game!
