Nice beginner game. Learning Unity is definitely worth it :)

Not bad for a beginner game, here's some feedback Why does the color of the ground eventually change to the same color as the background? If intentional, that's a really weird design choice. The game feels really empty, as the player you don't do a whole lot and the levels are over in a flash. The music sounds funky, but it is too short. Try to make a longer track with variation next time. And what are your themes/genres? Also, the game kept crashing on me, something with the position of the AudioListener.

@ShiMapleLeaf The first version had a consistent floor, but I 'accidentally' coded a disappearing floor and thought it added some gameplay variety/difficultly so I kept it around. The AudioListener gets dynamically added from an AudioManager so thanks for the heads up! I'll do some more thorough testing next time around.

Appreciate the advice!

This game was fun enough and I enjoyed it. But there was a couple of things you could improve. Firstly the platform that you play on is the same color as the background, and I found it hard to see the difference between the platform and the ground. Also, the game is hard to win because of the sensitive controls. But the game was challenging and I liked the simplistic art style. Overall, a good first submission.

Good job on implementing something and building it out! I agree with the above posters about the floor disappearing and that the cube slides fast. So not being able to see the floor makes continuing hard. This was my first LD as well, glad to see other new people giving it a go!

Simple fun little game. The music fits the game, the poppy light music with the dodging of the game. 3 levels is a bit short. I really need to see the edges of the playing field. Maybe you could iterate over multiple colours? Rainbow floor? I like the simple minimal menu :v: :fox:

Hope you learn a lot from your game! I had more trouble beating the first level than the second one! Maybe some easier levels at first would be welcomed! Good work!

derek-volker 2018-04-23 16:19

Runs really smooth, congrats.

ragnta 2018-04-23 18:20

if you put some object for clicking, it should be a clicker + platform game. :) It's a nice basic game. Great job!

leorid 2018-04-23 22:25

Cool short game, as mentioned the music is quite short, but I like games with an end and for a jam game this is perfectly fast and easy to play.

Fun little game dude. Personaly, I think the control are a little **too icy**. Cube slide too much. Overall, nice work. Congratz with your first submission.

shoj92 2018-04-25 11:20

@Bryan Coen Thanks! I found it added some fun difficulty. But, @Persijn I really like your idea of highlighting the edges with different colours! @Goutye @Derek Volker @ragnta @leorid @Dumivid Thanks for your support! This makes me really want to do some monthly Jams and learn more for the next LD ^^

From your description, I'm assuming that this is one of your first games that you ever made. The concept is simple and understandable, color scheme works well, runs very smoothly on a web browser (well optimized).

Controls are slippery but personally, i dont think that it is a bad thing. If anything, it makes it more challenging to complete the level. Got upto level three but was trying to finish it for 15 mins. The fact that the floor dissapears is the only thing i dont like.

Overalll, congrats not only on submitting your game but submitting a well designed game :D.

It's nice to see someone else does his first steps learning unity. I did the same project two month ago with the help of brackeys to get a feel for the software. Eventually i came back to gamemaker this ld but i plan to use unity next time. But wish your levels would be a little bit longer xD

Well done! :)
