funny game
Fun concept, just wish there were checkpoints and maybe some music.
jajaja! Funny game dude! xD I found the voice and the face stickers really funny. Well done!
Really funny idea. I think I typed "dude" several times before I understood the hint was telling me to type commands instead of the word "dude". Having a history to cycle between previous commands would be a convenient addition.
@thejackimonster Yeah, I had the same thought, I just didn’t have time to implement it XD I also wanted to make more commands usable. The current command pool is way too limited, so the game doesn’t play nearly as well as I originally envisioned.
Absolute cinema! The voiceover is top :D фывфывфы.png
@cahard Thank you, dude!!!
The game is fun, but it’s not always clear what you’re supposed to type. I noticed the levers and just started typing “use,” but nothing happened. Similarly, for the keyhole, I typed “insert key” or “use key,” and only then, out of desperation, did I just type “open.” And I actually beat the whole game without ever picking up the mouse or the shotgun. The concept is interesting, and the execution isn’t bad, but I think it would be more fun to play with a wider variety of actions and commands.
Solid entry. A few more hints on what command works would be nice. Or a similarity search with semantic embedding or similar to match every word to the closest command.
But really cool interpretation of the theme!
Also on my monitor it was a lot darker than in the screenshots. Maybe have a brightness slider so that one can adjust it, because I am sure it had just the right amount of darkness on your monitor!
@ernar Yeah, the weakest part of the game is definitely the limited number of text commands. I just ran out of time :(
@ausstein The brightness feedback is fair, though. But maybe you didn’t pick up the torch from the wall? Without it, the place really is that dark, just like in old-school games such as Dungeon Master.
Thanks for playing, dudes!
This was fun! Unfortunately I did not finish... I got restarted four times, and by the fourth I was a bit too demoralized to go again. My personal opinion here is that either less things should kill you, or there should be checkpoints. The fun part of this game for me was exploring the map and solving puzzles. Being restarted meant rehashing areas I'd already seen and puzzles I'd already solved, which took away from the fun.
This might've just been me, but I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the enemies? I had the shotgun icon and pressing it played a punch animation (as did typing "hit"), but it didn't seem like it was doing any damage and I died. Not sure if I was doing the wrong thing.
I actually had an easy time with the commands. I don't think there was a single instance where I couldn't figure one out. I guess some other commenters seemed to have problems; maybe this is an issue with different dialects of English? Not sure.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with it! I think the fact that I continued playing after three restarts is definitely a compliment. I thought the voice acting was funny, especially for mistyped commands, lol. And the visuals were quite charming! This is a good submission :)
Pretty funny and unique game, I really enjoyed, but I think the game needs some checkpoints, as dying and restarting all over again gets annoying. The only thing I had problems was with the skeleton, as I had the sword and I write "swing" and "attack" to kill them and he didn't die and I died.
I also think the levers need some re-sprite as I though they were unlit torches. But overall pretty cool and fun game!
@baziki Thanks so much for the feedback! Of course, the problem isn’t you — it’s that the game is still rough around the edges, and I didn’t have time to make it clear enough to understand)) In my original plan, the voice commenting on your actions was supposed to be a character in the HUD, but I didn’t have time to draw him. And if I’d managed to do everything the way I wanted, he would’ve made a little sarcastic remark after your first attempt to beat the skeleton with your bare hands. That was supposed to give you a hint that you could find a weapon.nnI wish I’d thought to add checkpoints.
Sorry you had to suffer through it three times! Thanks for playing my game, dude! I really appreciate it!
