@creepyface Thanks for the feedback, and I can't allow it sorry you have to play the game lol I've just uploaded a x32bit version. let me know if it worked, have fun <3
@fadrikalexander Thank you!! it did work and i still stand with what i said. cool artstyle and sounds!
This is really cool! The swapping is so snappy. I think I would've preferred to climb the ladders since they dont swap between the two levels, but overall a really fun game. Love the really simple sound track as well, really adds to the stealthy vibe. Well done!
@stuartc Thanks for the feedback, and yeah I wanted it to feel as snappy as it can get to be fast paced to added that to everyone I guess climbing the ladder will complicate the controls and will slow the game flow
Fun game. It was quite tricky but really fun to play. Loved the graphics.
Cool game! I really liked it And the gameplay and graphics and music are all on top Great job!
Ha, there are a couple really cool touches here. I like the idea of the camera zoom being limited with a power meter and I also like the trap door mechanic. Sometimes it felt like the rabbit's detection cone was a little bigger than pictured. All around nice job!
@panurge @neshtyak Thanks for playing and feedback <3
Impressively huge level, and nice looking graphics. I'll echo the above comment about the ladders - the transitions all being the same made the mechanics a little unclear. It was tough to know when I was on the same layer as the rabbits, which led to me getting caught several times. I think a bit more contrast when you're "hidden", and using a different transition for ladders would have helped clarify that.
I was most pleased with the fact that you made a stealth game that wasn't painfully slow. *So* many stealth games make you wait an eternity between moves, and it gets old fast. While playing your game, I felt encouraged to pause briefly, and then sprint on large sections, which mostly worked out for me! Also, your choice of music really helped to sell the mood. Good work!
Cool game and amazing vibe! I only wish there were some checkpoints so I didn't have to start from the beginning every time I get caught! Also a keyboard shortcut to restart would be nice.
@cacciatc I really love the camera zoom mechanic and I added it in a previous game of mine "https://fadrikalexander.itch.io/the-wanted-merchant" but I didn't limit it and all the player said they hated keep pressing the button all the time when playing and abusing it hhhh so I limited this time and it's way more fun. and I'll check the rabbit detection collider. Thanks for playing and feedback <3
One of my favourite entries thus far. Really fun to play and especially inspiring since it came from a team of 2! You should have added a humour rating as well tbh. Really liked the whole narrative idea.
@andrewkennedy thanks for the amazing feedback! what do you mean about all transition are the same? when entering a secret passage a door sound will play but I would love to get more info from you on how to improve that. and also the rabbits will never catch you when you're in the secret passages.
What an awesome plot for a game. I got that damned trophy! Glory to turtles. Wonder if there's a true ending if I get all the amulets, too...
I was smiling ear-to-ear at the turtle having motion blur and the concept of "camera power". Overall, pretty fun and tense at times. The art style and color palette is clean and fits the mood for a night time heist. The music lends to this as well.
Only gripe: There were times where I was confused as to which "layer" I was on in the map. There might be a subtle color/texture change to the wall but I don't think it was enough to convey I was behind the map.
Great job, guys! Very solid game overall.
@evn Thanks for playing, I thought about adding checkpoints but I felt that the game is too short to have them you can complete a whole run in 5mins, and the same thing about the restart I thought about but since there no way to get stuck or do a wrong move then we don't need a fast restart.
@wilhelmstein thanks for playing and feedback <3 I wanted to add the humour rating but other than a couple of lines in the start it'll moody so it's not fair for people that actually made a humour game like I did the last LD
really cute graphics and nice choice of music. the controls were easy to learn but the game was sometimes unforgiving (getting caught makes you restart the entire game with no medals which was frustrating). still, i had a lot of fun with this one
@fadrikalexander , Visually, all the transitions fade to black, then fade you back in a new position. This made it feel great when going through a secret passage, since it felt like you were hiding. But using that same visual transition for ladders also gave me that "secret passage" feeling, and I had to remember that I wasn't hidden just because I traversed a ladder.
@tyreyes32 Thanks for the amazing feedback <3. the medals or amulets all are put in places that like a bit puzzly to get so it's more of a fun thing for the player to do that's it and also if you really want to speed run the game they count to the 100% complete run lol
for the layers I guess the blue one is simple the house layer, and when you go into a secret passage the blue ones fade and the purple layer of the secret passage appear. so if you didn't get that do you have a suggestion how to make it look better for the player? maybe add a text? or a thing around the turtle?
@apaphy thanks for playing and the feedback <3 yeah sadly the guards will take the medals you stole and get them back to their places it stupid to throw the thief outside your house with your stuff lol but for real because the short play time of the game I thought it would be more fun and challenging to do this
@andrewkennedy ohhhh now I get your point and that makes total sense, I'll have to look into it and see what I can change maybe making it fade to white for the ladders? because I tried the ladders without the fading and the teleportation felt really off for me
@fadrikalexander off the top of my head, maybe: + a black vignette around the border of the screen + or turning the opacity of the whole environment way down, except the section of the wall you're in
@tyreyes32 man I really wanted to add post processing so much but unity decided to not allow me to download the package before two hours of the jam end lol so I went without it, and I'm still sad about it and thinking of reuploading some in the next upload although the game is nice without them more flat
I tried the second point and I'm turning it but anything less than what I have it makes the house disappear sadly
This is a really cool idea. Story is well written. The music is catchy and gives me the groove of a "real" thief.^^ The camera ability makes it complete. :)
@mighty-mufflon-games Thanks for playing and the feedback <3
I love the graphics, the music fits so perfectly and the gameplay was very fun.
Great game, good job.
@mololo Thanks for playing and the feedback <3
What a delightful entry! The graphics were lovely and cute, the gameplay really fun. My only complaint is having to go right back to the beginning every time I died was a bit unforgiving... perhaps some checkpoints along the way?
@garys thanks for playing, I thought about checkpoints but the game is a bit short and fast to have them and they'll make the game way too easy. and lol I remember your profile from past ludum dares, glad to find familiar faces still jamming <3
The sound of the game is serious cool, as well as its gameplay. The animations are well done and you did a good job for giving the fastest turtle in the world a speed effect. I like the ideas, good job
A nice, fun little game with stealth mechanics. The graphics are nice and cohesive. The music adds to the whimsical mood.
Simple and fun game. I realy liked the vibe, the art and the gameplay are very good. Well done!
@benjamin-leroy @taikinaaa @glv-p Thanks for playing, the feedback and enjoying the game <3
The pixel art is great, it has retro vibes, but later in game i didn't know where to go. It's very open world and maybe you can add more things to do. Also at some points I thought I was trapped by the bunnies, but game didn't end
@morcado one of the things I wanted to add is to make the world open and intricate to give the player the going deeper feel, and you already have 10 puzzles to solve to collect 10 medals and a big trophy and I thought this will be enough. so basically what you have to do is collect the trophy and get back to the start and the medals are optional
@fadrikalexander maybe it was me haha I got lost, did there where more than 2 levels deep? I think I was confused with this transitions. But I really enjoyed this game, you did a nice job.
@morcado yeah the mansion is so big it has secret passages in the walls lol
The art was nice and cohesive. I like the story setup too. The switching mechanic was interesting and smooth but at times somewhat confusing as it was not exactly clear which items could be interacted with. I think having a visual indication of where and what the different locations did would be nice. Also and idication of what enemies are in what layer you are in would also be a good addition since the bunnies will move past you as if they are in the same layer as you even if they are not. You could do some sort of grey out for this. I liked the music, made you feel like a spy.
I really like this! Great graphics with music and sound that together fits the gameplay perfectly. Gameplay is fun, fluid and overall feels very polished. The only "complaint" I have is that the contrast between being in the same place as a rabbit and the rabbit being on another depth could be a bit better, perhaps by having the rabbits that are not on the same layer as you being flat in just one color or something like that? It's not gamebreaking, I just think that it would make it easier to read the scene to make quick descisions without having to remember which layer the rabbit was on etc.
I made a quick mockup: Skärmbild 2021-05-02 015549.png
Otherwise, a great entry, I will come back to it to play more!
Great job!
@c4scar Thanks for playing, the items being not clear is intentional because they lead to secret passages and it give the player more feel of discovering and exploring deep into the mansion if I had borders around them it'll be just a game of moving around from door to door, the guards are always on the mansion layer and not in the secret passages, but you're right I need to add more details to show that up, Thanks for playing and feedback <3
@okamit Thanks for playing and feedback, and thanks so much for the mockup it totally makes sense, and I get now why people are confused I'll fix that and upload it in the next version.
It was fun. The level was well made. It was a game of speed. The camera method was fresh. The turtle was not slow. It was as fast as a rabbit ^^. It was an interesting game. However, I wish there was a place to rest. It would be nice to have a map with the location of the trophy.
@gamefive Thanks for playing <3 what do you mean a place to rest? you can simply pause the game or stay at any levels without guards. I really wanted to add a map but the time didn't help so I put the trophy in the king's chamber at the top of the mansion
Gorgeous graphics. I think it behaves well, but I'm not sure I think it works. There's something weird about the pacing that just doesn't work for a stealth game.
Pretty fun game! I really liked the graphics and audio. Good job!
@lemonsaurus yeah a fast-paced stealth game is strange even for me but I had to try it out and see if it works lol and I kinda like it tbh
@toxiccomputer Thanks for playing and feeback <3
This is very impressived and really enjoyable. Everything fits well together and the gameplay is easy to pickup but challenging. I would have liked to have a few seconds to hide or something like that when rabbits discovered me tought because right now it feels very punishing to get caught. Great job overall ! Congratulations !
@kerdelos I totally agree with you! I wanted to add a chasing AI but I didn't have enough time to build and test a new one so I went with patrolling one, although I'm planning to add it in the next versions, Thanks for playing and your feedback!
The music & graphics are spot on. Really enoyed it, though was really hard! Everything is really well put together & everything complements each other. Great Job!
Really enjoyed this! Loved the graphics and the nerve-wracking gameplay. Well done!
Very interesting game! I really liked the "behind the scene" mechanics. This is really the charm of the game. The simplicity of the graphic and the choice of the color palette was very well thought out. This simplicity really shines in the eyes. The music is also very "stealth" with these pizzicatos. I really enjoyed it! There is one thing that gets in the way: When the places of interaction are very close to each other. You want to get into one and get into the other and face the rabbit. I lost a lot because of that. I will leave this game here safe to get to the end of it.
Congratulations to the team.
This was nice! I like the idea of the fast paced stealth game and how differently this plays than a normal more slow paced traditional stealth games. The art and music (and overall mood) were very nice.
There were a couple things that take away from the whole experience (in my opinion). I was a little confused about what things I could interact with and what things I couldn't. There didn't seem to be any way to tell without walking in front of them and seeing if the prompt appeared. It made planning my route out sometimes difficult.
Also, there were long ladders that stretched over the length of the screen. My first run ended when I randomly climbed a ladder with a top I couldn't see and immediately was caught by a rabbit walking up there. At least, that's what I assumed happened. It happened very quickly
I also would have liked the animations of walking up and down ladders, moving between rooms and all that. The fade out and back in was a little jarring especially because it was close to instant but not quite.
Overall this was a very nice entry! Well done!
@glaikunt @digital-bacon Thanks for playing and feedback <3
@euler-moises Thanks for playing and the feedback <3 yeah I've crushing this issue which come sadly from level design than the actual code and it's annoying if you can tell the place that this happened to you so I could fix it
@minibobbo that was intentional because they are secret passage and you don't know where they are until you can come close to them other than that everything that is interactable we had it in white like stairs and ladders.
and for the long ladders that was intentional too to force you to use the camera power and see the rabbit up top and plan to avoid it you can say a hidden tutorial.
we tried animation for the moving but they killed the fast pace feel of the game for example because guards that you have to perform presice climbing to avoid we saw that the animation needs time and the player doesn't have to learn how to calculate that so we made it instant, about the black screen do you have a suggestion on how to make it better?
Thanks for playing and the feedback <3
@fadrikalexander - Huh, now I see the directions that say SHIFT - camera power. And the instructions on the main screen that say SHIFT - camera power. And the bar on the left of the screen that tracks your camera power with the large SHIFT on the bottom of it. Having the camera power really does change the game! I don't know how or why I didn't see it before. Thanks for pointing it out! I'll have to try it again
@minibobbo wow, this is my first time that I add controls on the screen and I guess I have to make an extra effort to show these stuff out next time <3
Very nice game! Loved the athmosphere and the game concept!!
@midnightmist Thanks for playing and feedback <3
Hi,
here is my playthrough of your game
https://youtu.be/DloG77Ow288
hope you enjoy!
@ausstein Thanks for playing and feedback <3 excited to see the video
Wow! Although my game isn't stealth, it has a similar feeling to yours! (mine has timing of enemies and going into another layer) You game is definitely more polished than mine, I wish I could say it was just the extra day and person, but you guys clearly have talent. I loved the concept, and the intricate layout of the mansion. Great work!
