Cool ideas. Having the player decide to break blocks or to store them for a more opportune time. The added pressure of the elevator leaving without you makes it a lot more interesting, too.
Only minor gripe is the choice of controls (L and M for mining and grabbing blocks). I agree that maybe a mouse would be more intuitive.
Great game overall!
Simple and fun game design. Visuals are very clean. ( Love title font if you made that yourself.)
Easy to cheese this game by holding on to one box. Maybe try: - Making it so you move slower/jump shorter while holding on to a box - The points earned per second is a lot less with fewer boxes alive - Making it so you may only hold on to box for a few seconds before it is dropped
Solid work overall. I see a LOT of potential for such a simple game. Bigger stages and a larger variety of traps. Maybe different box types/sizes that are immune to some traps but explode and can potentially destroy other boxes if it's hit with a lazer!
I enjoyed this a lot!
Despite the foreboding setting, the chill music and cheery voiceovers of the miners were endearing.
The gameplay has a lot of potential, too. Every time I saw massive patch of crystals on either side of the Subterra, I got super excited. It's satisfying to chart out the paths of the miners and have the ship rendezvous further down.
I did find controls and pathing tricky. I associated the space bar as a "stop time" that occurs when selecting a miner. This is more of a PEBKAC error. But I wonder if it would be better if spacebar was a time stop button (ala FTL) and to start the engine you had to click on the buttons on the top left?
Anyways, cool game and great work!
Dang guys my mom didn't sign my permission slip to go on this feels trip 😥
Great presentation, lovely drawings and music, too.
Very impressive for doing this whole thing solo! Great art (really nice textured background), music, and atmosphere. Pretty chill and relaxing.
Art Assets are stellar! My only complaint: why is the music off by default? It's a cool track!
What an awesome plot for a game. I got that damned trophy! Glory to turtles. Wonder if there's a true ending if I get all the amulets, too...
I was smiling ear-to-ear at the turtle having motion blur and the concept of "camera power". Overall, pretty fun and tense at times. The art style and color palette is clean and fits the mood for a night time heist. The music lends to this as well.
Only gripe: There were times where I was confused as to which "layer" I was on in the map. There might be a subtle color/texture change to the wall but I don't think it was enough to convey I was behind the map.
Great job, guys! Very solid game overall.
@fadrikalexander off the top of my head, maybe: + a black vignette around the border of the screen + or turning the opacity of the whole environment way down, except the section of the wall you're in
+ Simple, elegant, and addicting game design. A "one more run" type of game. + Cool music all around. Especially the menu music and when you go pretty deep in the game. + Clever and succinct way to tutorialize the game via cutscene. 1) Cannibalize mushroom children to stave off the dark. 2) Somethings chasing you. All shown in few seconds
@brainloaf-studio I dug 123 layers. How much more content am I missing out on??
Banger music and a very interesting concept. Instant click when I saw the FTL- like rooms and upgrades.
I think a little tutorialization or additional UI elements would've been helpful. It's not abundantly clear what each section of the drill does and when to activate it.
Well.. I think you got the theme down! Very original and bold
Thanks for providing a game that has upgrades! First time I've seen that mechanic for this jam.
Only thing I would like is a full screen option, so I can steer my armada better
