Really impressive! :)
Very fun game, nice motion and it has some creative ways enemies attack you, which were executed well.
Love the graphics, it looks amazing! Wish there was some audio but it's a really cool game regardless.
A solid entry, the movement was quite good, even if a bit too fast and slidy for me, but still felt good :) I personally would suggest adding a progressive recoil? By that I mean, the first shot would always hit where you aim and any subsequent shots in quick succession would be more imprecise :) Another thing missing was the lack of general feedback - hitting enemies, hitting batteries, water and cores, when the player is hit and maybe some red flashing lights, that would alert the player to the instability level, as without audio it is really easy to loose track of it. On that note, the lack of audio was what pulled the game down for me, but I understand the reason, it is time consuming, and the result is not guaranteed (hell, look at our entry where I put an effort into audio, and it is still a mess), still, some basic noises would be welcome :)
That said, I will repeat, the movement is solid and fun, the level was interesting, with multiple paths to take, the movement animations on the character felt natural and were responsive. Implementation of the theme was also nicely done, with higher risk, bringing higher rewards :) (this is something we wanted to include in our entry as well, but due to time constraint, was left kind of on the side) Great work for solo developer ;)
Enjoyed it. The movement was nice and fast. Liked the bullet hell level of firepower being shot at you, although one trio of enemies at the top of staircase caused me problems. Some more feedback on if I had hit enemies would be nice.
Very fun game overall! I think if it had sounds it would give more feedback to the player, but I understand that time is short, I even had to run on the last day to finish putting the sounds in my game. Good job!
Fun game! The controls were really nice and responsive, which I liked. Audio would've definitely helped it feel more alive, but the graphics were nice enough that I didn't mind too much.
Good job!
I will repeat what has already been said: this game needs audio! A kicking sound track, some machine growls from the enemy robots, pew pew sounds from gun fire.... AWESOME!
Really fun game! I am old and my reflexes are bad, so I would have liked to be able to slow down enemy bullets a bit to make it more strategic.
I ran into a problem where I stopped being able to shoot for some reason, not sure why.
Cheers! [-LB](https://ldjam.com/users/the-lame-brain/)
@ Everyone ty for the feedback, the consensus is that I need to add audio which is completely true. I usually leave audio for last and when the time was coming to an end it was the feature that I left on the chopping block.
@drunk-wizard Progressive recoil is a great suggestion, the shooting in general was all hacked-up so I didn't put any thought in terms of its design, there are alot bugs regarding the weapon system that I have to fix, and if I continue to work on it I will add it for sure.
The lack of feedback is also something that I have to acknowledge is a major problem in the game, not only when you are hitting enemies but also when you get hit and when the instability level is raised.
@the-lame-brain the bullets being too fast is also true, that in part as to do with the fact that I originally did not intend to do this fps / bullet hell hybrid but by the end I just said f-it and decided to go full bullet hell, so I made some enemies shoot slower bullets but forgot to change that for the ones I developed first.
@wyvex LOL!
I know that "F-it, it works like this now." moment so, so well!
Looks very interesting. Any chance for a web build so us non-Windows people can check it out?
@shaolin-dave One of my friends was asking me for the same thing. So I just went ahead and updated the itch page with a HTML5 build!
Just tried the web build, and had a lot of fun :D
Yeah audio would improve it, but the core is pretty solid. I felt like I was doing really well but apparently my aim is not as good as I thought :P
Really nice concept, I liked the graphics and overall mood. I feel the weapon has too much recoil, maybe let the first few shots be precise? As it is now you really cannot predict where your bullet will go. Also there are a few spots where you can fall behind stairs and get stuck, and it get really difficult to get out if you're moving fast with high instability level. Anyway this is a really cool game, good job!
I really liked your game. The gameplay is very solid. For some reason the mouse sensitivity is very high on my browser. But i enjoyed a lot! Good work!
Quick tip for the webGL build bind the options to something else than escape since it also closes Fullscreen. Makes it impossible to play for me in fullscreen since I can't change the sensitivity
Nice Concept, Overall it works quite well. Here are a few points of critisism:
1. a little buggy in some places. You can get stuck under ladders etc. Make sure you clip off everything.
2. The shots of the gun landed always to the bottom right of the crossair, starting from the first shot. you can maybe look into getting a better recoil model.
3. Hit Feedback. Make the enemies glow a little when they are hit etc. Like this I was never quite sure if I was hitting them.
The web gl build doesnt seem to work correctly, when I start the game (after the briefing) I can only see my hands /gun + GUI, but no enviorment.
Thanks for the feedback!
@parttimeindie Hmm that's really weird, it might have to do with the way I instantiate a bunch of assets in the beginning of the game or maybe some dumb error, I wasn't able to reproduce the bug do you have a screenshot or something?
@lumbigui You could've change the mouse sensibility by pressing Esc, but in a webgl build, as someone already pointed, out is really dumb to have the menu mapped to the escape key, so yeah my fault.
I tryed the HTML5 version, it's unplayable for me the aim is too sensitive, so i tested the windows version. The concept is interesting, the game is not easy the firerate of the ennemies (mobile and turrel) is hight, and they appearing around the player in some moment. Maybe you can make a better tutorial, and add more sound. That's a good job for a GameJam game !
Fun little idea: don't think I saw anyone else mix the idea of the unstable reactor as a ticking clock with a first person shooter. The game looked nice and the level was easy enough to navigate on the 2nd try. Unfortunately there was a few bugs, such as being able to clip under stairs, and a lack of shooting feedback and sound. Aside from those bits though it was an interesting idea and I think it was done pretty well ^^
Your FPS mechanics feel so good here! And the environment wouldn't look out of place in a borderlands game! Really great job with those.
As others have already said, sound effects would really add some juice and carry your game pretty far. After that, I would go with some popups on the UI on things we do that affect the stability. Sure we can see the progress bar on the side of the screen, but I think the feedback would be really good if we kill an enemy, get a nice sound effect, and a little floating text on the screen like "enemy killed: +10 stability".
Thank you for spending the time on the tutorial before the game, as it helped immerse me right away. Tutorials with lots of info sometimes are better when they are delivered progressively as I interact with objects, but that's definitely more work.
You also did a great job with the visuals and level design. Some music or sound effects would have definitely perfected it.
The implementation of the theme wasn't for me, as losing control of the character made it less fun (rather than just a challenge). For example, when there were a lot of enemies and I wanted to be precise, it quickly became impossible.
Nonetheless, I think you packed quite a lot into a 3-day game, and I'm impressed! Great job!
When I was a teenager, my friends and I played a game where the main goal was to destroy harmful insects. Maybe you remember this one. It was necessary to find the source of the spread of these pests and neutralize it. Then I could not even think I would do the same in my garden. Fortunately, there are many ways to deal with insects now. The https://enviropcs.com.au/ team is ready to go. None of the sprays that I ordered in stores gave the desired effect. I am glad that the roses did not badly damaged, but I will still buy special tools to restore them.
