LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep-fry Deeper by Ithildin 2021-04-28T20:52:03Z

I'm ashamed to admit how many times it took me to ACTUALLY complete the game and not ruin the Churros ^^; The game was really fun; got a solid Cooking Momma vibe from it which was really nice as it gave me warm feelings of the DS games. The art is really nice and vibrant and is incredibly consistent. The lack of background music is my only real critique as as nice as the sound effects were, they did begin to grate without something else in the background. Still; a really fantastic job ^^

The Chasm by Re-Markable 2021-04-28T20:44:41Z

The puzzles in this were really fun and actually quite clever. I did manage to softlock the game on the Web version by moving a platform out of reach and accidentally detaching. The sound effects were also a tad too loud for my liking but aside from those two little gripes I really enjoyed this game. It was an interesting take on the theme and honestly; I thought the character was actually pretty damn cute ^^

Throneless by AdamCYounis 2021-04-28T20:32:36Z

This is really impressive considering the amount of time provided to create this. The game is pretty fun and great once you get the hang of it but I did encounter a couple of technical issues when it came to recruiting units (recruiting one caused my game to softlock sadly.) Furthermore as beautiful as the game was I felt there was a lack of sound effects to make the experience really.... pop? Aside from these few minor gripes it is still bloody impressive what you managed to achieve in such a short space of time ^^ Great work

Danger Rat by Studio Gomp 2021-04-27T21:04:21Z

This was a really fun little game. I'm a sucker for anything to do with Rats so the fact I got to BE a rat as I perform death defying acrobatics made it the perfect game for me ^^ The movement was fluid and the controls were super responsive which made the experience very enjoyable. The art style was suitably cartoony; though I don't know if it was just me but our dear protagonist was a little blurry to my eyes. The music was also very impressive and I found myself jamming along to the background music whilst hanging off the chain at the start. Again; probably an issue on my end but for some reason it made my audio crackle a little but otherwise a really simple game with a really solid core gameplay loop. ^^

Button's Garden by Matt Heinrich 2021-10-09T16:21:25Z

Very nice little game. I love the art direction in this game (The character design is extremely appealing to me) and the environment itself was very nice as well. The idea of having to grow plants to allow you to grow more plants was a really cool idea with them all having different requirements and I thought it was very unique.

Coffin Run by epicureanistik 2021-10-09T15:45:23Z

Interesting little Idea; though I feel as though the lack of any sound aside from the explosion sounds made it a little grating on the ears. I'm also a little unsure how it relates to the theme unless it was to do with the explosions from the coffin.

Jenga DESU ! by Kaiomoi 2021-10-09T16:45:21Z

I really liked this one. A really simple idea that 100% reminded me of Katamari with the music and style. The background music was perfect for this and the randomness of the game made it nice and replayable. My only gripe was that years of PC gaming conditioned me to use WASD to move and not QZSD, but that's nothing a few attempts couldn't fix in my brain. Well done ^^

LCD DREAM ESCALATOR by Hydezeke 2021-10-09T16:10:39Z

This was a wonderfully trippy little adventure and honestly one of the most unique uses of the theme I have seen. I adore the music and the sound design, with particular favourites being in the street with the dancers and the forest. Really reminds me of LSD Dream Emulator and I would love to see more, even though I'm certain I probably missed more than a few bits. I know for a fact I will be back again to play this some time soon.

The Swirl by cybuuorg 2021-10-09T16:30:08Z

Oh wow. I absolutely loved this entry. The game oozed style and spoke with the vibrant and beautiful story you composed. The music was top notch, and the various different routes to the story made this one an absolute blast to play. Honestly keep this kind of thing up: I'd love to see a full VN or detective style game from you guys one day.

Pest Control by Wyvex 2021-10-09T15:56:50Z

Fun little idea: don't think I saw anyone else mix the idea of the unstable reactor as a ticking clock with a first person shooter. The game looked nice and the level was easy enough to navigate on the 2nd try. Unfortunately there was a few bugs, such as being able to clip under stairs, and a lack of shooting feedback and sound. Aside from those bits though it was an interesting idea and I think it was done pretty well ^^

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

This Metal Heart Still Beats by QueenOfSquiggles 2022-10-21T18:53:10Z

Oh my goodness; this is a really clever implementation of the theme and the most unique game I have ever seen for a Ludum Dare project. I will confess I am not a programmer, nor have any experience coding but once I managed to get it to 'click' I found this to be an incredibly clever and almost relaxing experience (though based on the programmers on my team I imagine their angry screaming suggests it's not always calming!)

I liked the art style; the minimalist look worked very well given that the players attention was meant to be focused on the coding side of the screen (Which I REALLY appreciated being able to scale to see more of the area around AVA.) The Interface of the project was also easy to read and once I had my coding epiphany, I was writing logic strings with no difficulties.

The Music was pretty nice; put me in a Minecraft-zen kind of mindset whilst I was learning to code and helped me push through the initial (albeit brief) frustration of struggling with the basics of coding to get to the fun bit of actually seeing my code play out in real time. I think some of the sound effects grew a little grating after a while, and I feel an option to adjust the volume would've help alleviate that.

The story was also a really cute little addition; would've been really easy to just have a single line of text explaining AVA but the choice to make the 10 seconds tied to her not wanting to experience "death" hence the 10 second time limit on the tick was a really clever way of integrating the two.

The overall feel of the experience is very polished, and I would consider it a huge success to get someone like me, who codes as well as a Gibbon, to engage with the core coding mechanics I would consider it a huge success.

...And then I realised that this was a Comp entry and that this was made in 48 HOURS? I am honestly blown away by the scale of what was created in such a short length of time. My metaphorical hat goes off to you for the sheer scale of what you managed to create in such a small space of time.

You deserved so many more ratings and attention for such an ambitious and well realised project. I wish you the best of luck with your future endeavours because if this is anything to go by you are destined for amazing things. Well done and keep up the stellar work <3
