Interesting concept!

danntheoperator 2026-10-19 20:22 ♥ 2

Thanks for playing @arfenalis !

tero-pulkkinen 2026-10-19 21:09 ♥ 3

wow the graphics style is just amazing.

emrod 2026-10-19 21:30 ♥ 0

@tero-pulkkinen Thanks! Gabo did the 3D, and Ema did all the 2D assets. Tremendous duo!!

half-and-half 2026-10-19 21:37 ♥ 4

Very cool stuff! So much style.

Reminded me of Crankin's Time Travel Adventure a bit ;)

dingohlm 2026-10-19 23:55 ♥ 3

Stunning! The visuals are simply incredible, and the gameplay is original, enjoyable, and challenging while also being highly replayable. Nothing else to say, just well done!

welovegames 2026-10-20 06:28 ♥ 3

A fun concept and a perfect fit for the theme! I liked the idea of controlling the world through VHS playback controls, though they took some getting used to. The core mechanic is a clever way to play with the theme.

aterim 2026-10-20 09:27 ♥ 4

It took me a while to get into the rhythm. Maybe I'm just getting old and my reflexes aren't what they used to be :), but personally, I'd prefer the rewind to be a little slower so I could have more control over what's happening.

That said, everything is really well done! The visuals, sound, style... The overall production quality is great!

stanewolfer 2026-10-20 11:53 ♥ 4

i was waiting a game like that this is so cool, the mechanics work really well and the effects are perfectly designed

roronoati 2026-10-20 11:57 ♥ 3

Incredible visuals and sound, with a clever VHS rewind mechanic that fits the theme perfectly. It’s fun, challenging, and highly replayable; the controls take a little getting used to, but the whole game feels wonderfully polished!

ryzku 2026-10-20 13:52 ♥ 4

eally cool concept and amazing visuals! The VHS mechanics are super creative and fit the theme perfectly. Took me a bit to get used to the controls, but really fun game overall. Great job!

emrod 2026-10-20 14:46 ♥ 0

@half-and-half @dingohlm @roronoati @welovegames @aterim @ryzku @stanewolfer Thanks for playing! We love making it, and we'll continue improving it, so keep an eye on the itch.io page for future updates!

frizifrench 2026-10-20 15:35 ♥ 3

The game is really well made and fun to play, i love the concept

danwhiffing 2026-10-20 16:46 ♥ 4

Interesting twist on the classic endless runner. The aesthetics add a lot here, they're very fancy!

the pause, rewind and fast forward don't all feel equally useful. It seems like the best way to play is to toggle pause most of the time, and rewind if you get in a bad spot, and you can pretty much just play infinitely. Unfortunately this way of playing isn't super compelling from a gameplay perspective, so it makes the twist feel like it's making the game less fun rather than more fun.

Still, a well polished and interesting concept that deserves more investigation, well done!

isline 2026-10-20 18:36 ♥ 4

A little hard but really funny, don't know if you should keep the restart of the music every time because it's becoming a little annoying. Love the concept of controlling the speed than just the jump and the style of the duck.

mem0 2026-10-20 22:48 ♥ 3

Wow, the style and the mechanic are insane

breadstick 2026-10-21 04:50 ♥ 4

Mr. Duck is so cool I wish he were my real father πŸ˜”

I absolutely love the aesthetic you've built here. Amazing art direction with stellar assets, and the gameplay is not something I've ever seen before. Really really cool stuff!!

(Now if only I were any good at this game....)

irisann 2026-10-21 08:09 ♥ 2

Oh my God, oh my God. I love ducks, and this is a cool duck!

indiepanda 2026-10-21 08:13 ♥ 3

A very interesting concept! The music and art are top-notch. I did struggle a bit with the controls, though πŸ€ͺ

divarium 2026-10-21 09:22 ♥ 3

Exelent game ! The gameplay is, i think, unique. And the graphs and aestetics are very good.

anku 2026-10-21 12:20 ♥ 3

Gorgeous graphics and sound design! The controls feel a bit awkward at first and take some getting used to, but it's definitely worth it!

eugenik 2026-10-21 13:22 ♥ 3

I really enjoyed the pressure of timing the jumps correctly. Having the option to scrub back and forth on the tape makes the challenge feel incredibly deliberate. This is a genuinely fun and tense concept.

neeko69 2026-10-21 16:21 ♥ 4

Very cool game, really liked the concept! Very challenging but yet balanced! I really enjoyed this game!! One small issue is in the menu screen, as you allow to select using W-D keys, but you don't allow to use A-D for the volume, making me use the arrow keys.

johncoffee 2026-10-21 19:37 ♥ 3

nice work with the theme, the audio was deafening. dont make settings have sounds and no bass sounds before the settings is a good tip. Gameplay was a bit classic but good implemented. Good Job.

andreas-roschal 2026-10-21 20:45 ♥ 1

Very unique concept! I like the challenge, although I really suck at it. πŸ˜… Took me quite some time to get used to the controls. The visual presentation and the arcadey/retro style look awesome.

lone-wolf 2026-10-21 21:22 ♥ 1

Difficult (Took me ~20min to beat the first level) but the controls still felt good to use (Good sound effects). It's very easy to make mistakes due to having to keep track of danger above/below your character on the left side of the screen and watch for upcoming danger on the right side. I think that's where most of the difficulty came from for me.

Other than that though this was a fun and very well rounded game. I'm glad you didn't skimp on the movement prediction dots, I was completely dependent on them being accurate. Nice work!

ao-85 2026-10-21 21:51 ♥ 1

I totally love your concept! Coming up with this was a stroke of genius. Awesome, your game is magnificent! I had a blast playing it, really cool stuff

koolruz 2026-10-22 04:26 ♥ 0

I really enjoyed this! I've never played anything like it, and that is a very cool feeling! I did sadly had to stop after 30 minutes though, because I started getting motion-sick from the camera pivoting around the VHS player.

Despite my motion sickness, I absolutely loved the art and vibes. The background details just felt incredibly familiar, and captured what I remember the 90s feeling like, even if my memory is likely hazed by nostalgia :)

I'm not sure if the difficulty was intended, but this is also a *brutally* difficult game in its current form. In the 30 minutes I played, I kept getting to the row of dumpsters after the pigeons you need to fast-forward under, but I kept crashing into the dumpsters before I could pause the tape; I just didn't have the reaction time to save myself. Given the fact that you have to take the level at Mr. Duck's pace (fast-forwarding always seemed to kill me outside of the pigeon section), I think the game would have really appreciated a checkpoint system, if only to help folks see the whole thing during the jam :)

I did run into one really weird camera bug during my extended play session that I figured I'd let you know about. I'm not sure if I just got extremely unlucky with random camera movements, or if the camera doesn't quite return back to center as it pans around, but the camera ended up zooming extremely close to the screen and only showing me the bottom right quadrant for around 30 seconds, before slowly zooming back out. I only thought to grab a screenshot once it started zooming back out, but this *kind of* shows the bug:

camera-bug.PNG

Overall though, please don't take this wall of text as me disliking the game - I spent 30 minutes playing because I thought this was well drawn, original, and fun! I wish I were better at it, or that my constitution was stronger, because I wanted to see the end! I'll see if I can come back later this week and at least finish the first level :)

@frizifrench @danwhiffing @isline @mem0 @breadstick @irisann @indiepanda @divarium @anku @eugenik @neeko69 @johncoffee @andreas-roschal @lone-wolf @koolruz Thanks for playing! Thanks for the feedback!

We are taking all the feedback and releasing and update fixing those bugs (and others we found πŸ™ƒ ) and taking care of the camera motion, maybe an option to disable it.

The checkpoint idea is a good one @koolruz, but I think that is out of scope until the voting time ends. I think is against the rules to add it now. But I already have in mind on how it would fit the game and feel πŸ˜„ .

There are some balancing that we can do to the levels, and actually add a tutorial and progressive levels (easy to harder, and an special even harder that the actual one πŸ™Š )

Again, thanks for playing and providing feedback! πŸ˜„

estelgames 2026-10-22 15:46 ♥ 2

Wow, super pretty game! I just love the film grain effect. 😍

It is the type of game that is easy to pick up but hard to master. I read the other reviews and your reply to them, so I will not repeat what they said. Awesome game with a lot of potential. Well done! ❀️

skeyven 2026-10-24 08:40 ♥ 1

I’m impressed you even managed to make the page look so cool! It’s really atmospheric.

alexandru-barbanoua 2026-10-24 11:14 ♥ 1

Wow, guys, Mr. Duck is amazing! The graphics look really nice, and I love how you used the rewind mechanic in the gameplay. Such a cool idea! Also, happy to see someone else made a game about cassettes. Great minds think alike! Amazing work, guys!

ausstein 2026-10-24 11:36 ♥ 0

Increadible interpretation of the theme. And just as increadible execution!

Wow! My favorite entry so far. Managed to beat level one after a while. Think I have enough impressions to rate the game. For now I have to go on to play and rate other games to get my own 20 ratings, but once that is crossed I intend to come back to try beating also the other levels. (How many are there?) If the levels are equal in length I was almost as far into level 2 as level 1 was long i think.

ingi 2026-10-24 19:39 ♥ 1

A very stylish game - it captures the vibe of 90s arcade machines beautifully. The mechanic is elegant and engaging at the same time. I had a great time playing it!

danntheoperator 2026-10-25 00:23 ♥ 0

Thanks for playing! @estelgames @skeyven @alexandru-barbanoua @ausstein @ingi

For now there are 2 levels @ausstein, but more are planned. We are figuring some things out about the next steps πŸ˜„ !

We just released a new build with some tweaking and multiple bugfixes!

baturinsky 2026-10-25 13:26 ♥ 0

Cool, unusual gameplay, looks great, but as many have said, could really use a checkpoint.

nikiroz 2026-10-27 21:44 ♥ 2

Amazing visuals and really fun gameplay! Awesome work!

pooki 2026-10-27 22:08 ♥ 2

Amazing art and a creative use of the theme. The game seems very polished. Some suggestions on where this game could go. - I could see this go in a direction of short levels that one tries to optimize - adding different cassettes for different jump patterns could be a way to spice it up - For going fast, it would be really helpful to see further so further camera or a "minimap" of a larger part of the level or something - Currently there is no reason to go faster and so a strategy of pressing back small taps when the cycle is wrong and then a short forward press if necessary is all this takes. This can become quite repetitive - more variation and reason to keep playing

Awesome work. GG

OMG, IT IS SO DUCKING COOL

ueighti 2026-10-28 18:55 ♥ 1

Cool concept! It’s pretty tough to beat, but I’d love to see it developed into a full game. The tilted CRT style looks great, though a flatter, less angled view might work better for gameplay. Really like the visuals, atmosphere, and sound. Nice job!
