Just Like a choose your own adventure book in game form :) It is really fun to see what crazy adventure you can put the character own. The writing is really cool as well!!

mhykah 2020-04-21 04:51

Good writing and great sense of humour! Good choice of colours to make the text easy to read as well. Good job!

beavergames 2020-04-21 16:31

Good work, I'm not gonna call you lazy for not programming a thing, I get that you probably didn't have enough time. Your storytelling is amazing by the way.

magus77 2020-04-21 17:01

tekst based adventures, i've missed those ! loved this one, and there are really lovely lol-moments in there! I had fun,so good ratings from me <3

tpzombie 2020-04-21 18:16

That was so funny! I love your writing style and the story made me laugh a lot.

Great job! I love when people approach to the theme in a more narrative way :D

fidrik 2020-04-21 20:42

I was surprised how many options there were! I ended up opening a communist gardening shop lol, but I won! great job. would be nice to add some art next time or ambient sounds

digitaldude555 2020-04-21 20:58

I was able to keep my company alive with a cactus game! But after replaying I died like 5 times, must have been lucky. Great stuff and I'm happy you had fun making your game, i'm usually exhausted after a game jam and take a day to recover.

casual-dutchman 2020-04-21 21:09

Actually really suprised by the game. Instead of going for a 2d or 3d game, you choose a text based adventure. Very refreshing. The first time I died due to me eating a frying pan, I laughed. Such a fun way to go on an adventure

:white_check_mark: Debating with a voice in my head about whether the chicken or the egg came first

:white_check_mark: Dying of stomachache because I ate a pan and all of my Ikea furniture

:white_check_mark: Resurrecting, only to find myself confronting the weird voice again about woodchuckers

:white_check_mark: Making the toaster explode

:white_check_mark: Breaking into my office using a jetpack

:white_check_mark: Getting blackmailed by a memo

:white_check_mark: Pivoting to communism propaganda against the opinion of my inner voice

:white_check_mark: Become fluent in Russia

:white_check_mark: Finally getting successful thanks to the power of Коммунизм

...and all this in a few minutes. So many funny twists and turns, supported by entertaining writing. Awesome game !

dane-ziggler 2020-04-21 22:13

@fidrik Yes, I wanted to add some music, but I wanted to submit early to avoid all the web traffic! Of course, this is before I discovered Wolfram Tones (great website that uses AI to generate music). But thanks for the feedback!

dummydojo 2020-04-22 01:54

I usually don't play text based games, but I sincerely enjoyed the writing style of this. I like the fact that the text isn't very lengthy, but it gets the image in your head. Every decision also felt like they had weight to them and some consequences. The tone was also spot on. It had an aire of mystery to it and a lot of absurdity. I personally got the Boris Berry ending lol. For what it is, nice job.

slotha 2020-04-22 02:13

Awesome Storytelling! I loved the humor and just the sheer randomness that occurs if you go off track! Amazing job! I'll come back to play this after the ludum dare is over!

oqlqo 2020-04-22 05:08

There is something unique about text-based adventures. It might have no graphics, music or sound effects whatsoever but it does what some VERY detailed games sometimes forget ... it is fun to play.

I really like the writing style! It really makes the game worth a few endings.

Loved the humor, congrats!

patrickrmc 2020-04-22 20:22

Really fun storytelling. Very good and detailed writing and somehow I managed to start a communist gardening company and surviving, so I'll take that!

macdoom 2020-04-22 21:53

LOL! Cool story bro! 1000 stars for creative writing. Would love to see all that! You've really nailed the theme from a perspective I've never seen before. Would love to see further upgrades. Achievements maybe to keep track of different endings. Got myself killed by the narrator and had disastrous jetpack experience

Congratulations!

alphazeba 2020-04-23 01:25

This is a very interesting submission. I went through quite a few endings :P

warabii 2020-04-25 18:36

Loved the narrator :D I'll play again and try to find a way to marry her/him. Free Vlad' Vanilla at our wedding.

legavroche 2020-04-25 20:33

This really reminded me of Stanley Parable, which is great! The scenarios provided were hilarious

mrtroy 2020-04-25 21:07

I love the writing in this. I was able to save my company(after numerous tries) by [Redacted].

zachary-shah 2020-04-26 00:38

So glad I did the review for review, because very rarely do I find a funny game on Ludum dare. the story telling was great and the narration made me laugh so many times. i know this is a text based game, but more appealing visuals would go the final mile to make this a "Ludum dare masterpiece." highlighting key words and changing the font so it doesn't look like an English essay would help(a little mean but the rest of the game is incredible). this is probably one of my favorite entries, thanks for letting me play it!

abdurrahman-khallouf 2020-04-26 16:39

ok. I like this entry for sure. when I was playing and reached a bad ending . I restarted the game and said to my self "I have to just click through to reach the same place, this should have a history or something!"

well I found that there is a history. I didn't find a lot of depth in the story or the choices. I decided randomly, would have been nice to actually consider things based on an input (my love or hate for a character, being broke, etc)

but I don't know nothing about my character...

of course the humor made up for the lack of depth. I know. I still would suggest to gave a little bit of depth that makes you weigh your options.

also some sound effects and visuals would be nice (not necessarily visuals from the story just more Ui movements and click buttons) maybe sounds for important stuff like dying or dialing the phone.

maybe some ambient sound for office, house, street .. etc

--------------------- ok thats all I won't bore you with more criticism :) Good job on this one and good writing too.

convg 2020-04-28 19:31

First thing I did was get killed by the narrator. This game is epic. Literally the best one I've played so far. Awesome work!

lazzydev72 2020-05-01 10:13

WoW. love The Work. Nice story Telling. :v:

trexxak 2020-05-02 01:54

Wait, you mean twine games count as games? Whatever.

The whole [Redacted] thing as well as the aesthetics of establishment and removal really reminded me of "The Trial" by Kafka. But more tongue in cheek, of course :D

Fun little story. I learned not to invest in hotels and that cereals can be deadly.

minnka 2020-05-05 10:27

It was nice story telling but unfortunately just not my type of game. good stuff tho.

jmad 2020-05-06 22:10

Started the experience really surprised, as I did not need to follow all the steps to play : I just clicked on the download file link, and it opened the game - which is good, but also threw me off quite a bit (is my web browser sentient?).

Played through twice. Lost my life to a terrible glue accident, only to learn from my mistake. I got caught in a loop of eating spam, philosophing about spam, thinking I could escape reality... and in the end, I became a successful ad-plagued social media for old people company. Am an all star.

It was great. I had a blast playing, and will definitely try to get different endings later. Great writing, great content, absolutely loved it.

Lovely game. The writing is on point. I went back and forth to explore all the possible outcomes. Great work. It's a really humorous game and had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. I can't express enough how well written the dialogs are. Great work.
