I like pencil drawing
This is such a creative concept! When I was reading the controls and I realized what this game was I got excited haha. My only complaint is I wish there were more levels!
I'm a big fan of hand drawn games (I both like to make and play them) This one is fun! The controls felt a little unintuitive, but I got used to them eventually. It felt a little unfair that the plane would crash if you hit one of the walls/ceiling with the top of your plane (instead of face-on), which would be a simple fix. But that also might wreck your game balancing, so who knows.
Overall, fun, humorous game. I enjoyed playing it!
great game maybe the best I've seen yet well done ! I love the controls. After 20 crash I've noticed there was some other rooms but I still having fun controlling the plane.
This is a fantastic looking and playing game. Very creative! Only issue I had really was for some reason, levels would start for about a second, and then move onto the next level. But, excellent work on this!
The art style is lovely and the attention to detail is amazing. I managed to hit the marshaller and you had a special graphic for it, which made me chuckle out loud! The game itself is simple but took me a little bit to beat the harder levels. Great job!.
Hi! Great little game, it was sometimes a bit laggy on my PC and the rock throwing enemies felt a bit too random, but the drawings are very nice and refreshing, it generally plays wells, and I had a good laugh on the end screen. Overall very nice, congratulations!
I love your take on the theme! The visual style is also great, and I chuckled at the end screen.
That said, I think it was a bit hard to control. The plane just moved too quickly in a lot of the levels and it didn't feel like there was a lot of wiggle room to avoid enemies.
I like the concept and execution. My only suggestion is for the level to fully restart when you crash - on one of the later levels, the balloon enemies sometimes blocked the way through when I'd spawn back in.
Please upload a web build!
@cheesepencil I'd love to, but unfortunately we have not figured out how to get Godot4's web builds to work on this site or itch.io. I'm all ears if anyone has any suggestions...
Actually, I think I might've gotten the embedded HTML 5 working on itch! It takes a very long time to load for some reason but it does work (the first few levels, in Firefox, at least)
@gary-the-enchanter I'll give it a try when I get home thanks!!
I loved the art. Flying through to different rooms was clever and fun.
Neat concept. I liked the pencil drawn style. Bug: A few times it would skip me a level ahead after 1 failed attempt. I liked all the different obstacles you had. It switched it up and kept it interesting. It was challenging but fun. Great job.
Good idea! I had a lot of fun playing this.
Really great fun, a cool control mechanism I've not seen before, nice hand drawn aesthetic and loads of diversity in mechanics. If I had but one gripe it would be the controls being a little unintuitive and the physics a little wonky - especially the stalling. All in all a really well put-together experience!
Very nice game! I really love the hand drawn graphics! It took me a while to figure out that I could leave the first screen to continue the game (I thought I had to drop as much packages as possible on the target before crashing lol). Then I had a disastrous run... And after a few tries I finally managed to get a perfect run! Capture.PNG
Really fun to play, graphic style is really cool The only (very small) issue I found is that the start of the catapult's level is pretty hard, it's garanteed to kill you the first time, and even when you know you may not have the reaction time to dodge the cadellabra, which feels a bit unfair...
Great job!
I still don't really understand the controls, but the art style is lovely and the core concept is great!
Neat and unique mechanic! Art and music also good. Nice job!
I've played this game many times, but I never managed to achieve the perfect outcome. The gnome is always unhappy about something. I think a restart function for the entire game would be helpful since the game doesn't forgive any mistakes in the end. In any case, it's a really cool game, and I got hooked on it for about 30 minutes.
Great game, very challenging but doable! I also liked the music, and the art's very cute
tried playing in the web app, and every time I moved to the next screen it looked like it loads into 1 level, then immediately loads into a second one. Enjoyed the gameplay though, but the turning felt really sensitive. Tried downloading the windows build version, and the double-level-loading wasn't happening anymore, but as soon as I hit play the plane would fly through the level super fast before I could react to it Art was awesome though and results screen got a good chuckle out of me would love to see a polished up version
@xxstdyk Hey, I’m impressed you got through it with the troubles. I’ve seen it skip a level occasionally, but it’s always been in the middle for me. I’ll be in the lookout for the things you mentioned if we do another bug sweep. Thanks for the feedback! @floralvikings and I have been talking about working on this some more when we weren’t in “we’ve only got 72 hours, just throw stuff together” mode.
I loved the art style!! And the mechanics a pretty solid! Congratulations! I got trouble handling the plane. For some reason my brain always think in inversed controls.
Really cool aesthetic and interesting mechanics, nicely done!
i struggled with the inverted flight controls but the art and concept is really great!!
@paul-avallone @jaxah @xxstdyk I fixed the room skipping bug y'all pointed out tonight. For some reason it was detecting that the player hit the exit doorway immediately upon loading into the room, and triggered the timer to load the next one (which is delayed a second to allow any packages to hit the ground). Not sure why it happens only sometimes, but I figured out how to detect it happening and stop it.
Thanks for the feedback!
Love the art, love the mechanic. The only problem I had was the resolution when playing web. When playing full screen, I only get part of the screen there and can't see the landing pad. When I just play in browser, I can choose to see the landing pad or see the plane but can't get both.
fantastic game, like the comment above, fullscreen doesn't work on web build. great art-- well done!
Hey @the-wondering-vagabond & @sebbot!
The resolution is fixed at 1920x1080, so I suspect you were running that at a resolution that was less than that, and that's the source of the problem? I was thinking about making the view-port scale-able, but that seemed arguably a feature update rather than a bug fix, so I didn't want to accidentally break the Jam rules. We've never Ludum Dared before so I haven't fully sussed out how far is acceptable.
Thanks for playing it, I'm glad you like the part you were able to see!
Loved it. Short and sweet, though could've been longer. The art was great, and the concept was excellent. Only problem I had playing it was the automatically starting the levels which can cause an issue on the chandelier lever. Also it would be nice if the enemies reset on level load/reload so you could plan around that. Only thing I would think to add would be more levels and some perhaps subtle sound effects for the goblin catapults (and any other future 'active' obstacles to dodge)
Only 'bug' I found is that the music doesn't loop so if you end up taking too long (or leave it for a bit) then you'll have no sound.
@nkrobinson thanks for playing and for the feedback! There's definitely quite a bit of polishing we'd have liked to do, but ran short on time. We're talking about maybe building something a little larger based on this post-LD and we'll definitely keep your feedback in mind if we do!
I loved the controls! They were really different and at first they're challenging, but they quickly become intuitive. Plus the art style was really different. Good job!
Very unique art style, yeah a good game, don't really have any suggestions for improvements. Maybe instead of dropping many packages you have one or two per screen.
Great game! Took me a few run-throughs to get all the package delivered with no misses (not without crashes though), but it was a lot of fun! Reminded me a little of the old Glider game haha. I really liked the pencil style art as well. Well done!
Was drawn in by the gnomes and stayed for the hand drawn art. Gliding mechanics felt smooth, tough but fair. I would have liked to be able to use WASD instead of the arrows, but I got used to it. Nice work!
This is a very unique game, the simple doodle-like graphics (I don't know the word for it lol) create a very interesting atmosphere. One of my favourite games in this Jam tbh!
@bluedandelion thank you so much for the praise, glad you enjoyed it!
