Great game, but it needs some work <3

saulo-rosart 2020-04-22 21:30

Thanks @massassen ! I'll work on it!

jandourek 2020-04-22 22:08

The game looks and sounds great! Hitting the big red orbs is really satisfying. The only problem I have with this game is that it's a little unforgiving if you miss a platform and the level layout is a little confusing. But overall I would say you did a great job!

mantaraytv-games 2020-04-25 12:36

Great, I love it! Pretty hard but very fun. The pixel art is crisp and clear to look at, the player has a nice contrast to the background and it has a great visual style!

Also I respect everyone who uses impact font in their games #impactsquad

linluk 2020-04-25 12:53

this is quite hard, but thats a good thing. on german keyboard Z is where Y is on a "normal" one and the other way round, so thats made it harder too, but still a good entry!

god-colo 2020-04-25 12:53

Ahhh pixel art! I love the gameplay mechanics! At first, it's a bit difficult but once you've got the hang of it, it's super fun! Greato Jobu!

trogoq 2020-04-25 13:34

Really fun game. Very nice art and tight controls. The jumps at the top of the level are quite difficult to progress through.

saulo-rosart 2020-04-25 20:41

Thank you so much for playing! @jandourek @mantaraytv-games @linluk @god-colo @trogoq I've release a new pos-jam build HTML5 with all of your feedback! Include new controls and support to gamepad. I'm planning in working on this game for a full steam game!

mantaraytv-games 2020-04-25 21:30

@saulo-rosart I'm so happy for you! I hope you finnish it, I would buy it tbh! The improved version is SO MUCH BETTER, just playing with a gamepad feels so much better! I plan to do a similar thing with my game, just probabaly not Steam, as there are way too many taxes...

saulo-rosart 2020-04-25 22:32

@mantaraytv-games Thank you so much for your kindness! Glad you liked the pos jam build! Where are you planning on release your game?

cheesepencil 2020-04-26 00:22

Gamepad support helped a lot, I liked the subtle particle effects in the background (made it look kinda dusty in a cool way), which gave it some more character. Seen lots of games about eggs and plants so a hungry sword is a refreshing change of pace.

mantaraytv-games 2020-04-26 06:58

@saulo-rosart Most likely Itch.IO because it's so easy to customize the game page and in general itch is a much more friendly market place than steam. But you never know, maybe if it's successful enough on itch there might be a steam release...

I liked that some jumps required good precision but they were not impossible, thanks to the crispness of controls. I managed to get all artifacts on my first run, it would definitely need a additional polishing and extra variety to work.

khaoz-fang 2020-04-26 11:13

Nice game, the attack effect is great. I can't get to the top though, the controlling feels not so smooth to me. It seems at some places if you hit the orb but missed the jump, it's impossible to make it anymore.

virtuaworlds 2020-05-01 05:52

I like the graphics and the concept. It's very hard to get the hang of this game. It needs a bit of work and I wish there was music but nice game over all.

jonathan-lorenz 2020-05-03 11:08

Nice little game. The controls are a bit stiff but worked ok. I would have liked more dangers for the player (ennemies, spikes, lava) because right now the game felt a bit easy. Good work overall!

landosilva 2020-05-03 15:28

I missed some challenge but it was a nice entry.

mrchippy 2020-05-03 16:21

Nice job. Everything felt really good. Even though some of the platforms were really small they didn't feel unfair or annoying. I tried 3 times but couldn't get past the one high up orb. Maybe the orbs respawning after a while would be a good idea. That might get rid of some of the challenge to the mechanic but for jumps that rely on the orb the current system is way too unforgiving.

First of all, I say what I liked in this game int this big review. This game is cool looking, with this Persian-like music reminded me of Prince of Persia for some reason. It controls nice, not standartly, but still it is convenient. I also like the mood you've built up here, really cool.

Now let's take a look at some flaws. It works nice but it is SO unforgiving for non-hardcore-platform players. Character slips very often from the platform, and you could end at the beginning if you don't know where to fall. But there is no deny that initial build was even more frustrating with its tiny platforms and working bloodthirst mechanic. If you are targeting wide audience of players the level design should be redone IMHO. But if you target hardcore platformer fans than it is okay...

This was my opinion on the difficulty of your game before I reached the second floor. And when I reached it felt like a cakewalk after this section. There are certainly some problems with difficulty of this game, I think it should gradually increase, but here for you skill you will be rewarded with very primitive exploring segment.

Bloodthirst mechanic would make this game unique, but in Post Jam version it's lost. Without it this game lost connection with the theme IMHO. I certainly understand why it was opt out (read the first paragraph), but all unique elements are lost now. I think there should some ways to return this mechanic. For instance, bloodthirsty sword would poke you if it isthirsty to get at least some blood, but it makes platforms slippery and you need to feed to stop this. I know this suggest mechanic sounds weird, but this is first thought came into my mind.

I didn't get whether I won or not. When I've got 18 artifacts protagonist said something, and than it showed me a game over scree (Post Jam version). Mayby bloodthirsting affects the ending? IDK.

To sum up, this good looking and very atmospheric game with difficulty issues. I hope we will see new bloodthirst mechanic someday in the future.
