I like it. It needs something more to engage player, though. But the concept is unique.

nice idea for a rithm game. Some audio feedback could improve it greaterly

gallahron 2020-04-20 19:24

Could do with some audio feedback given it's a rythem game but that can be hard in a jam. It was a really good idea though

phlip45 2020-04-21 17:43

Agree with the calls for audio. For you post jam version, putting in some 2D sprites in place of the cubes would definitely bring back that nostalgia for the old PSone era sports games where you had all the cardboard people in the audience.

Hehe :) I played thrice and only scored 3.56, it's pretty hard for a one-buttoner :D Still a good, minimalist job, you managed to hit the theme :) What a shame you lack sounds...

boargames 2020-04-23 16:09

The idea is good. I could not understand very well the mechanics, and i think it lacks a specie of confirmation when you can cheer in the right instant

jetthesimon 2020-04-23 16:11

Was good. Wish I knew if I had made the wave or not though, just something or screen or pref. a sound.

Could be good with the polish/graphics you talk about it your post though.

Keep it up!

Lovely game concept! Would really benefit from some sound, I can imagine it having a cool ambience of a stadium crown as well as background noise!

Some way to know if you were early or late would be great, I found it hard to tell whether making the wave red was good or bad, and whether it wanted me to start exactly at the front of the wave - or slightly delayed?

Good idea though :)!

Honestly, it was more fun than some other games iv played. If the presentation was a bit flashier and the speed curve was polished a bit more this could be something. Online multiplayer mode?

nsadie 2020-04-24 16:10

Cool idea. Obviously some sound and feedback will add a lot. I think maybe using AWSD keys for each side of the stadium and then moving the player around a bit in each section might make it more interesting.

kaisean-games 2020-04-26 21:52

Hm... I am not sure what I just played

Still, an interesting take on the theme, despite not having much of a gameplay.

I do like how fluid the movement of the wave is

spthiel 2020-04-29 10:55

Interesting concept, the normal version didn't work for me at first until I reloaded the page ^^'

euforia-games 2020-04-29 18:56

I hit 17 loops! Awesome ADDICTING game

jonaspk 2020-04-29 19:04

Reasonably fun. It is a really interesting take on the theme, but suits it really well. I will certainly keep an eye out for the post-compo release. Is AI of the game at all complex? It gave the impression that there was some complex thinking in the audience, but it was hard to tell. Good entry in all!

cheesepencil 2020-04-30 00:50

Pretty tough! Good entry for compo, it's hard to get a good idea off the ground and it looks for the most part like you got it. A little sound goes a long way but you already knew that. GG!

mhykah 2020-04-30 02:10

Clever take on the theme!

japes 2020-04-30 16:28

Thanks for the comments all!

@jonaspk the "AI" is not complex at all. I simply have guys cheer as the imaginary line of the wave passes them. The length of the cheer has some randomness added, and there is a chance to not take part in the wave at all. This chance is inversely proportional to the strength of the wave. Really happy with how it turned out, glad it fooled you into thinking there might be more complexity than that :). I spent way too much time on trying to get a realistic wave though, at the cost everything else haha. But it was a fun experiment, and that's what jams are for.

I love the take on the theme! As a player I wish my characters could stay up as long as I hold space, and drop back down when I let go. It felt like the timer-based standing duration was too short, and they sat down too early. That being said, the ideas here are really creative. Nice work!
