That background track is a banger! Also compelling mood

Yeah, .jar repreSENT! This is an awesome little submission, very impressive given the timeframe. The door teleportation mechanic added some nice complexity (and became very useful when things ramped up, as things seem to ramp UP). Satisfying to play once you get the hang of it, surprisingly hard to master!

Fun to play for a while, but once I got all the upgrades, it became kinda purposeless :( Great soundtrack and nice job overall! Keep using that muscle =)

Some bugs / incomplete stuff (you probably know about most of it, but just in case):

-The "Buy Phase" text shows up before I finish shooting all the enemies (I assume it probably appears when the last enemy is generated?), which was a bit confusing at the start

-There is no way to distinguish between purchased and available upgrades - the icon looks the same

-The sound effect when player tries to purchase an already-purchased upgrade seems to be the same as for upgrades that are too expensive, and coupled with previous point it makes things a bit confusing

-Is there no way to restart the game from the loss screen? It would be nice to have a restart button, so the player doesn't have to close the window and run the game again

Although I like the concept of using doors to move between places like that, it made the game infuriatingely difficult. Cute graphics, pretty good overall

Nice little game. I wasn't very good at it, though. I just wish my bullets would catch up to the monsters...

I really liked the concept, and the artwork, and sounds. It all really fit together well. But what frustrated me was the clunky controls. I'm not sure whether this was intentional or not, but it felt like one of those games that forces artificial difficulty upon the player through controls. I feel the game would have been just as challenging had it featured more responsive controls. Faster bullets would've been nice too.

But damn, nice job for an engine you're not familiar with :) It's quite an achievement to do that in such a small timespan.

I got all the upgrades, took me a while to figure out what to do, but i figured it out. There were a lot of things that would have helped though, like costs for upgrades, knowing when they've already been purchased. Not that i didn't figure that out just by clicking on things, but yeah. The fact that you go from mouse to keys and back to mouse can be difficult if you are not good at swapping. There was no way to restart from the loss screen, i just started the applet over again. :-)

Nice game. The bullet and shoot speed make it challenging.

As feedback, maybe try turning the music lower? It's good, but the high pitches get grating after a while.

What a great entry - really enjoyed it and put a smile on my face

Congratulations on the entry :thumbsup_tone1: :purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

Cool game with interesting game mechanic with doors. Reached round 9. It felt like the game was hard in the beginning and was too easy in later rounds. I felt like the cost of items were missing in the shop. The game was simplified when you could just prefire rounds and then switch doors and repeat. Cool game nonetheless, gj on learning new library and finishing on time :)

Fairly nice game, it would have been great if you could move faster and if the first couple of rounds weren't so hard so you had some time to get stronger before the game gets impossible. I tried 3 times and the best I did was wave 4. Also if the plant was in the middle it would feel more fair, as it is the enemies coming from the right are almost impossible to kill so I just ignored them. Sound and graphics are cool though!

Couldn't survive more than 5 waves. The upgrades didn't seem to make a lot of difference and the buying phase happened while there were still waves coming. Good graphics and music loop.

Nice concept, but there are some issues, which make some features worse than it should be :\ but they are good ideas on their core. (these are just my opinions)

- Door mechanic should be removed, instead you could just shoot through the plant. It really breaks the flow to check quickly with Z whether new enemies will come on the other side or not.

- It was like a leap of faith. When I felt (or remembered) that the enemies will now come from the other side, then I changed sides. But this is based on luck (or replay), which I think isn't a good thing. Maybe an indicator would have been helpful.

- Buy phase started before the wave was finished.

- The upgrades seemed a really motivating thing, because at first the attacking was weak, slow, and clunky. I was so happy that I could be stronger, and then I could remember how weak was I at level 1.

- But the enemies are getting stronger, and the upgrades are just good enough so you could be relatively as strong, as you were at level 1.

- Example: I still couldn't kill enemies faster on level 2 with the first damage upgrade, or at level 3 with an attack speed upgrade.

- The only thing that changed that if I wanted to be as effective as before, now I have to press the shoot button faster. But I didn't feel any stronger.

Thanks for submitting, maybe I'll try again later on

i think having the ability to remap the buttons for shooting and going through doors would have been a nice addition. Sometimes when standing in front of the door i accidentally got the wrong button and went through it instead of shooting. When i got fire-rate 3 and started holding down the button to shoot, the gun sound effects got really annoying. After getting enough upgrades the game gets really easy, maybe the waves should get harder and upgrades should have some tradeoffs. it was fun otherwise and kept me playing until i got all the upgrades!
