Enjoyed hearing Jump and I got the pumpkin.
Hey congrats on your first game, you should be proud of your submission, its good for a first time. Here go a couple of tips to make your character feel even better playing: look into giving it coyote time and jump buffering for jumps
@ray-flower I've fixed that, but unfortunately the embed on this site won't work due to a Godot web build issue. The itch.io web version will work (with a little delay in loading), and so will the downloadable executables
I thought it was fun! The jump sound effects are great.
@legolula thanks! That's really helpful - great shouts!
Great to see a nice fully working game :), I managed to get the pumpkin wohoo. Good job
What a cute little platformer! And what could be a better jump sound :joy_cat: ? GJ
Congrats on your first entry, it is a nice lil' game with a funny side to it. I don't think it fits the theme at all though. Good job !
I got the pumpkin in 45.45sec
Cai eternamente no limbo e fiquei refletindo sobre a vida enquanto eu nem morria nem podia fazer mais nada, hehe
Great job for your first full game. I'm not 100% sure if the house/door mechanic is interesting or confusing, but it certainly took me a few tries to get the hang of it. Managed to get the pumpkin in 32 seconds. You have to give points for a game that has 5 (or more?) different "start game" sounds including a few different languages!
Congrats on making your first game ! Between the teleportation and me falling back down, it took me over 100seconds to find the pumpkin. But it is mine now. Bonus points for the jump sound!
@magic-mike yeah, the theme isn't very strong here! The only thing that I was really thinking tied into it is the small platforms/narrow tunnel/tight platforming, but it's pretty generic platformer stuff so it's not doing anything particularly thematically special! Thanks for the feedback 😀
@feor yeah, I was thinking about adding a sound and visual effect and a slight pause when you enter the portals, maybe even camera panning, but I didn't have the time to look into that. Definitely an area I felt could be improved on!
There are six different start game sounds, a few different time-based congratulations audio clips with differing levels of enthusiasm and more audio in the menu on desktop versions (can be heard in the video) 😅
@orold I hope the journey made you savour the pumpkin even more! 🎃
Pumpkin was got. Voice acting 10/10. Need I say more? Get the damn pumpkin!
Noooo.... why did you put a timer? Now I have to try getting a shorter time :)
(a dozen attempts later...)

Thanks for submitting your game to the stream! If you wanted to watch it again in the future heres the vod timestamped to your game

@wendel-scardua vamos! Very close to my best time 😊
@ategon thanks for playing, and for all the really useful feedback!
@yndajas what's your best time?
First of all congrats to your first game! :D The voice acting is very fun and I got the pumpkin in little over 100 seconds (i'm a little slow but it was fun)
@wendel-scardua around 27 seconds! I've seen a couple of people optimise in ways I didn't though
@cawfee-art thanks! Enjoy your pumpkin!
I loved hearing "Jump", but when I heard "Congrats" that really resonated with me.
@danjoricey there's something for everyone 😅

Pumkpin acquired! I repeat! Pumpkin HAS been acquired! Mission success.
I had a great time checking this out on stream and finally came back to beat my highscore. The whole process of learning the level, planning out your jumps and then executing on them was really a lot of fun.
The aesthetics and sound effects add a lot of charm and overall this was a really pleasant and addictive platformer game. Great work!
(Juuuuuump!)
@nujank woah, great time - that might be the record! You must really like pumpkin. Thanks for playing!
I (jump) got (jmp) the (juuuuump) pumkin! Cool little platformer! I think the counter really makes this game replayable. I can see some speedrunners trying to get the lowest times :-)
- the music is very well done btw
Congratz on your first LD entry!
@wouter52 vamosss! Thanks for playing!
Jump? Jump! Not quite sure how it fits the theme though? Besides that, congrats on your first game. Tip for pixel art games: make sure all pixel elements are to scale. I'm not sure about the player.... thing, but the icon in the top left as well as the texts are not in the same pixel size as the levels, which is a thing to avoid. Does the icon in the corner have a purpose that I missed or is it just decorative? Edit: since the game doesnt work on the LDJam Site, I recommend removing it from the game page and just using the itch.io link. Otherwise potential players may just leave thinking its broken.
@laserpanzerwal good shout on the embed - I've removed it!
Yeah someone else mentioned the pixel size thing. I'm not entirely sure I understand what's meant by that - the icon (sunflower/sun) is scaled up 4x, but it just has more pixels to make it bigger, not bigger pixels (maybe I'm completely missing something ha 😅). I guess it's the visual effect that you're talking about though? E.g. the outline on the player is definitely off compared to the outline on the platform assets (and it's not internally consistent either!) - the pixels aren't a different size, but the thickness of the outline as measured in pixels doesn't match. Is it something about the minimum number of pixels used as building blocks in each asset? In any case, definitely something to work on - I'd like to do more custom art in future!
The icon is purely decorative, yeah. It's an edited version of the sunflower asset that you can see at the end of the game, and I was kind of thinking that it would a kind of sun, or evocative of a sun (like in the Mario levels where it chases you, but not an enemy in this case). I don't think that's obvious, but I kept it in just for fun! At one point I was thinking about having it be some kind of clock, but I didn't have time to add ticking hands (or a loose interpretation of hands). Initially I tried just rotating it, but it the pixels didn't line up nicely at anything less than 90° increments, and it's vertically and horizontally symmetrical so 90° rotations aren't perceptible 😅
Re: theme, it is a weak point. I was thinking small platforms and narrow tunnels, but it's not anything you wouldn't see in a typical platformer!
Thanks for playing and for the thoughtful feedback - appreciate it!
I'm crying, this was so cute. The little "jump" sounds were so cute and fun. I'm not super good at platformers but was able to beat this one, so you made me feel really cool and powerful
I got the pumpkin :]
The clash between the lil alien creature and the cutesy Kenney art is such a unique and cozy vibe. It's perfectly accentuated by the wonderfully weird music and charming "jump" sounds. Congrats on your first game! Hope you keep making more.
@robobarbie @decadedecaf grazie mile! Glad you both enjoyed it!
Fun little speedrunning game! Enjoyed playing it on stream. I would like to see a jump input buffer and coyote time but I know that's a lot to ask for in a jam setting lol. "Jump! Jump! Juuuuump!" Cute art and sounds! Nice work
Was fun! I LOVED the audio, "Jump, jump... JUUUUUMP!" Made me laugh constantly. Great entry!
Cute game with fun audio. I got it in 99 seconds after maybe 8 deaths, which is OK for a 54-year-old. I loved the (easter egg?) additional voice content if you leave it running after winning.

Timers always make games 100% better, well done! *the jump audio made is so much more enjoyable as well!*
@little-doctor-games thanks for playing - it was fun to watch! Will definitely look into jump buffering and coyote time for the next one (as well as variable jump height)!
@flyingkaida just caught up on your VOD - lovely to see you enjoying it!
@dob congrats! I wonder how many people heard that audio, and how many got the reference 🫅🏽💜
@jamjamem yeah, there wouldn't be much to this game without a speedrun challenge 😅 Great time! Thanks for playing 😊
Loved the game! Then opened it on the next day, and it was the biggest mistake of my life... After an hour and a half got sub25 and a strat for a sub24 :smile:
Overall great enterty, adding a timer was a very important feature as it turned out.
For the brave souls who would like to speedrun this - there are two very cool jumps you can do to reach sub24. I myself couldn't do them in sequance :sweat:

@boyar epic! You have way better control than me, and you spotted an extra jump skip! I just managed to get 25.34 - sub-25 is a real challenge! How would you feel about that speedrun being added to the description here/in itch.io?
@yndajas no problem, i'll add it real quick
@boyar oh yeah! I'm not coming for your record, but thanks for pushing me to sub-25!
End screen showing 24.99 seconds
Managed a measly 25.50 after twenty minutes of trying. It's rather simple but I had a lot of fun trying to get faster and faster at this. Not sure how it fits the theme but I enjoyed it regardless. Great work for your first submission, especially as a solo dev!
@bad-fetus vamos! That's a fantastic score - took me a long time to get sub-26. Yeah, the theme is a weak point - I've mentioned a few things in earlier comments, but it's basic platformer stuff. Thanks for playing!
A good example of a successful jam entry that doesn't try to be more than it can be. Everything is simple but functional, and a dose of humor in the sound of the jump. Simple, fast and functional. Very good.
I got the pumpkin! Nice consistent graphics (I like the thick outlines) and funny sounds. Short but simple. Platforming feels mostly fine but I wish I'd had some coyote time because I kept failing some particular jumps that didn't feel like I should've failed 😅 Really cool to hear it's your first full game, congrats!
Juuuuuuump! Loved it, great little entry. I may come back and try to improve my time...
@lincolnsalles @ava-skoog @raphiell thanks for playing! And yeah, coyote time is definitely on the agenda if I come back to this, or for the next platformer!
