Haha, this is great! I really like the music that you've added on, and the art is really good! The only problem really I had was that it was really.. difficult to tell what the goal was to get to an area blocked off by chairs? I just assumed enemies at first would just keep getting back up when they fell down and got back up, but I figured it out pretty fast! This is a good game!

Cool game, sweet visuals! Don't see how to improve your skill in fighting though. Would be cool to have some timings or ability to block maybe, cause player doesn't have to choose anithing, just smash spacebar

Very cool, i like the handdrawn character and enemies and also the cartoony look of the whole game, it is a very metaphorical interpretation of the theme, but why not very cool game.

Also the controlls are pretty self explaining, i haven't seen the controls under on the site until i was halfway to the other side of the room, because of that it feels very intuitive.

Beautiful artwork and simple, but fun gameplay. As I understand it, you wanted to achieve a change in the surroundings depending on the progress in the level. Thats cool idea, but you may change color of floor and add some environment.

Art and animation is great! Wish there was a little bit more mechanics to play around with, like just more moves or throwing stuff would make this a very interesting and visualy pleasing beat em up!

I liked the metaphorical approach to the theme, specially the fact that the final enemy is your own self. The art and sounds fit really well too.

From the gameplay perspective, I think it would benefit from enemies coming from both sides of the screen. I found that I could just carry a trash can in front of me all the time and the enemies couldn't attack me at all.

I like the background and how it changes gradually as the level goes on. The character designs were also appealing, and the 2.5D artstyle worked well. The gameplay was kinda shallow and repetitive, although I did discover some interesting strategies involving hitting enemies from behind a chair to shield myself from damage. It was a bit disappointing that the ending was the same whether you die or make it to the phone.

The visual style was cool. It felt quite interesting to see the hand-drawn characters animate and move with the whole 2D beat-em-up style. The audio added to that, made it seem more fun and fast-paced. The punching felt okay, but I felt the gameplay was somewhat lacking. It needed more, options or something. The combat has little complexity, and since there's no story to keep you hooked per se, it really needs the combat to shine.

I think more variety in the core gameplay loop will definitely help a lot, and maybe added enemy variety. Just...more to keep the player here.

What a nice little game! It took me 3 tries to get through. I especially liked the artstyle and thought it was cool that I could push chairs and such around. The soundwork ist great and I can see the effort in this whole thing. On the subject of deeper and deeper I would have liked more reference than just the narrative of depression, but that does not detract from the fun of the game. It would be nice to have a little bit more controlls/mechanic, like a special hit with a different key. All in all really good work!

Good game! Nice simple beat em up. Really dug the way the office changed as you went further in, some really neat artistic stuff there. Also liked the papercraft look. Good song, sound effects and controls. Nice work

A short and fun game, just like you would expect at Ludum Dare. Love the art-style and visuals. The intro sound clip gave me a heart attack since I had my volume maxed out... That's on me.

As others have mentioned, as a fighting-type game it would have been nice to have additional actions (my spacebar is crying). Being able to block your enemies using trashcans was an interesting strategy since it seems their attack trigger radius is slightly shorter than the players. I understand being knocked down if you take a big hit, but it feels like it takes too long to get back up.

I get the premise you guys were going for, but I don't think it quite fit the game. Maybe you could have had the player slowly change colour the closer they were to the phone? Like pulling themselves out of depression bit by bit? Just some ideas.

Overall, I very much enjoyed the game and I would definitely love to try it out if you guys fleshed it out a bit more.

The presentation of this game is brilliant. Very well done! The art and audio really sell the arcadey feel.

The combat is satisfying, but a little simplistic. It's be great to see more functionality there, like a low kick or block. If I hadn't read the description I'm not sure I would have picked up on the how theme really ties in, so some extra in-game exposition might have helped there.

the game worked well, the controls is simple but really effective, the art style is really cool but i wish that the enemy could give more feedback about the health he have and maybe the difficulty be a little bit easier but the game is really cool!

Absolutely gorgeous entry, and I dug the music quite a bit. Like others have said, I would've loved a bit more depth to the combat: I didn't feel fast enough to try and dodge or anything, so I found myself just bursting enemies repeatedly. A different attack, or a block, or something would've done a lot of good.

Reading your description afterwards, I think your concept is quite cool, but I didn't really get it from the game itself. Unfortunately, I don't have any great ideas off the top of my head for how you could link it a bit more.

On the whole, I quite enjoyed my time with this lil one-button fighter

I love the art style a lot. The gameplay could use a little more variety, maybe just one more attack. But all in all this was a really well polished game.

I really wished there was a way to kick the opponent :laughing: felt somewhat strange that I could knock him down but could not keep hitting him while he was down. Yeah, some additional attack action would be nice. I was also very sure that if I punch the water cooler I will restore health - sadly it was not the case!

The metaphor does not really come through in the game itself and I would never have guessed I am fighting my way out of depression if not told in text. Maybe a changing music as I get closer to my goal (like from sad and moody to more upbeat), or changing lighting in the world (from dark to light), or changing enemies (from more deformed, dark to "nicer") and so on. Maybe you could even start slower (walking slower, dragging your feet so to say) and get more speed and energy as you fight your way out.

I liked the colored pencil art on characters very much.

The game could definitely use some polish but it is a nice jam game anyway :)

An interesting beat-em-up. Just add a 'block' ability and you have a great start! I liked the hand-drawn style of the art, with the occasion image thrown in haha. Nice music, although I'd have expected something a little darker for the theme. The little "pow" particles/sprites for landing hits were a nice touch and made it clear when I was being hit and when I was just out of range.

I really love the aethsetic and interpretation of the prompt! The music and sound effects and drawn style are really nice. I feel like the gameplay itself can use a lot of work though, only having the ability to punch makes it feel very much up to chance as to whether you win fights and makes the gameplay quite repetitive. Good work overall though!

Just played on stream! Liked the look of the game and how the level progressed more and more into madness. Gameplay wise i felt like i couldn't really avoided taking damage, so maybe something like a dodge or block ability would be helpful, but i understand that you can't add everything you want into a game in 3 days, so i'm mostly talking about the future if you feel like taking your game further. Btw the logo is 10/10 stylish! And voice at the start made me laugh!

The game looks great, gorgeous and funny art direction! The base gameplay works well, but as some people already said, it misses a block/dodge ability, but you definitely have an excellent basis! The sound design is pretty good, even if the phone sound is a bit too loud I think.

Definitely a good entry, good job :D

I really like the Paper Mario 2D/3D art style, combined with a beat em up, very nice!

The combat could have been better, it felt like there wasn't much I could do except button mash and hope I didn't get hit. as many other suggested already, a block, parry, or some kind of variety would def help.

I got to the phone and it just sent me back to the title screen, I was low health (like 1 hit) when I got there and wasn't sure if it killed me, or if I won the game.

Very unique art style and the music fits so well and has a nice vibe/beat to it. It really is that hard to muster up the desire to call your mother. ;)
