Cool little submission, quite different from anything else and nice simple art to go along with it. Nicely executed.

the story is so interesting! your art style is very unique too and the color palette is veryyy nice to look at. the chunks of text almost drove me away (the font was a littlee hard to read/took more effort than usual) but this is a very interesting submission nonetheless! good job!
Really like the art style! With such great art you should really add a cover image, you'd probably get a lot more plays!
Nice idea but so short, my feeling are that I am sad, I wanted more!
Mood is great, art is cool, the buzzing is a bit to harsh!
I like the art, it manages to get the loneliness theme across quite well. Would be nice with a little more player choices.
@ty @dhim @incal @stuartc @bigbadbison. Thank you for playing, rating and commenting the game so early, I don't know how you found it but you rock!
As for the feedbacks; I agree the font is a bit hard to read, not the best for readability. I may change it for a post compo version. I forgot cover image was a separate field. I fixed that with an artwork I made this morning. The sounds are bare minimum made in only half an hour just before submission. I'm not proud of this 😥 The linearity comes from my wish to make it simpler, but having more characters would have made it way more interesting. I made this level like a tutorial.
Post compo version definitely planned 🤩
Very nice art and an intriguing story. Short, obviously, but interesting.
I liked the art style! I'm also impressed that you attempted a narrative game in English with it not being your first language. There were some phrases that are a little awkward, but nothing that subtracted from the game or the ability to understand it.
Obviously it is short but the art and the simple animations worked well. Nice job!
It's a nice little piece. The hand-drawn assets are super cute and support the look and feel quite much. The take on that story and topic is quite interesting too, it's a pity that it is that short. I came here from your post about time tracking and since you focus on the story and mood, maybe give that a bit more time in development. I know it's hard to plan that. But maybe as an example: The fighting mechanic wasn't that necessary, but I guess it used a lot of time to develop. Instead, some interaction by clicking on an item or something like that would be totally fine. But apart from that, I really liked your game. :)
This was great. I thought I didn't feel like reading text but it was actually engaging right away :D I wanted there to be more to the story! Also cute illustrations
I love to see more narrative driven LD entries! Great work!
@charliegray @minibobbo @notexplosive Thank you for playing my game. I think my mission is complete if you find it interesting.
@remusnomos There was much more planned for the story _(more levels)_. Code really takes a lot of time, and instead of coding items, I polished the dialog system which, sincerely, took the majority of the time. The battle system wasn’t really that of a difficulty, there’s no hit test (you can click everywhere on screen), it uses almost the same system as the one I use in the dialog. I just spent more time on feedback and pacing until it felt right, I guess _(I love that stuff)_. Now that my system is settled, I can easily make more levels, until I find new bugs…
@peterfiftyfour that’s awesome if the game was beyond your expectations! I think that’s the first game where I actually made the story interesting on paper **and** in gameplay. It’s just a fun thing that came across my mind, and I’m happy with the result.
Congrats for this good and interesting entry. Loved the drawings and the story was interesting. I was frustrated that this game ended so early, so I will come back for your post-compo work for sure
Great work! I especially love the character designs. The mechanic of fighting the monsters was a bit confusing for me, but I'm sure It'll improve as you work on it. Would love to try whatever improvements you have planned!
Good history! Just got confused when i were supposed to destory that monster thing :o
Great game ! I liked it and it takes place in France (quand même c'est bien d'avoir des jeux français!). Graphics are really nice and cute and the storytelling is perfect, between amusing moments to sad ones. Good job !
Adorable. Great job.
Very visually appealing!
The visual is astonishing and the sound effects are also really good. Your graphics really caught my eyes attention and the story is interesting. Would definitely like to see more of that, I'm curious about it and anxious for the next two levels you said you're going to release. Congrats on your entry! (Oh, and if you could tell me the name of the font you used in the chatbox, I'd much appreciate it!)
I really liked the oversized custom cursor and the little jumping animation when you touch a character. :) And the last screen showing the future characters is really promising, I bet it will be interesting to meet them.
After talking to the family, I had to wait a very long time for the monster attack, it might be a bug (browser version). I clicked around and repeated the dialogue several times, if that helps.
@ommadawn @crocodiletuesday @mockthebear @shin0nome @cheesepencil @madr
Thank you for having played my game.
@villanelle the font used in the post-compo is [Silver](https://poppyworks.itch.io/silver). The other in the compo is [mono10](https://jdjimenez.itch.io/mono10).
@ynneblack interesting… I’m not sure but you may be experiencing some kind of weird godot signal latency 🤔. In case of doubt you can still try the standalone version, timings should be more accurate. Actually what’s your computer specs?
How is it supposed to happen? I can't record a long video, but everything else in the game ran smoothly. Let me try it again. I click through it, talk to Stephan and the two other people. There is the animation (dark shadows that appear and wiggle over other people) when I can't click on them. Whenever I click on Fiona, it repeats the "... can't talk to her yet" dialogue. If I wait, nothing really happens. So I repeat this whole process (clicking on everyone) a few times, and then the monster appears.
@ynneblack okay you didn't understand the game mechanic properly.
When you click on people who are open to discussion, they talk to you and then you can see their relations. The wiggly shadows represents a lack of relation from the person you talked to. You can then bounce on other people's mind and see their own relations too. That's how you can probe Fiona's mind by talking to Louyse (the girl on the right) who knows Fiona very well, then from her mind you can bounce on Fiona's mind, where you can see her inner monster.
That’s the "Deeper and deeper" twist.
I did not know the shadows symbolize that, I thought it'd be tied to the monsters (often shown as shadows) instead, but that's a fun mechanic. I just followed the text instructions.
Good luck with the post-jam version!
We really did make a similar game! I definitely enjoyed a deeper narrative game in the mix of Ludum Dare. I loved the concept and the writing was enjoyable. I just wish it were longer!
Very interesting and indeed deep concept. The game is a bit too short to fully get the gist of it, but the idea of fighting inner monsters to help people in need is great. I hope, you'll manage to expand the gameplay and add more dialogues after the jam.
This is a really cool concept and an excellent art style. Definitely the most unique game Ive seen this jam.
Quite unique entry, short but intense, with a good potential for future content :) Nice graphics too. Thanks!
