So... I just tried your game. It's kind of rough, but playable. The movement is really slow from the start... to the point where it's hard to dodge enemy fire. Sacrificing from the start, though, without a list of controls available on the sites or in game, I didn't realize that W and S move up and down. I couldn't hit the horizontally moving gray enemies in the air until I learned that. It's usually a good idea to provide a control list at least on the site, even if it sometimes gets forgotten in the heat of the jam (I know I frequently forget to get the listing into the game itself and have to sometimes add it in post-jam).
I tried the magnet upgrade, and it didn't appear to do anything, at least on the first level upgrade. It's really difficult to get past level 2.
i had issue with the w too but it was challenging and interesting
The game have a good Idea, buuuuuuuuuuut - As the camera is fixed you dont really know how your shots are going to be moving, you know roughly how, but not precisely, fixing the camera at the player might help that. - The speed movement upgrade starts to be bad after lvl 3, as you have inertia, I bought lvl 3 or 4 and it was just bad for me. - Shooting on the mouse makes me feel like the mouse should be used to aim/move the character - On the level 2 it is just madness and you are being hit all the time and when you kill someone, the award is too low. Maybe it needs some balancing in this part.
But it was a good idea, maybe if you did some different aproches it would be better Nice job, bro
I was definitely chuckling at the sound effects. The game controls didn't feel that bad to move around, but shooting was a little tough to get right. I really liked playing a rails shooter again. Feels like I haven't played once since Star Fox 64.
Good Job! Also congrats on doing LD for so long.
Unfortunately, I can't give it a go since I'm on Linux. Any chance for a web version?
Interesting game, I made it up to level 6~ I realized that it's always best to start with Fire Rate or Move Speed first. The Orb upgrade is quite expensive for how it's expendable.
Fun yet challenging entry! Gameplay is solid and it fits the theme well. I tried a few times but couldn't make it past the first few levels. It is hard to aim at the enemies considering you have to get right in front of them to shoot. Maybe aiming at the mouse or having an upgrade that homes in on enemies would improve it a bit?
This game is really fun! I love it!
Cool sfx and quite a bit of depth for a compo game nice
I think there should be a sound effect that better reflects the character taking damage. Good game and funny, too. There appears to be a bug after selecting an upgrade, when I'm pressing the spacebar to shoot and it still purchases the upgrade.
Overall: Basically a 3d third person shmup; really hard but also very satisfying when you finally learn how to win at it. Includes great voiceover that made me laugh.
Fun: I finished it! It's _really_ hard though. I was very close to giving in (without even finishing the first level) until things clicked into place and I started to improve. I think a big factor in that was getting used to the perspective - not many games are in this perspective and it was difficult to predict whether I was going to collide with something. It's a satisfying feeling, getting better at the game and making it slightly further each time; eventually I hit critical mass and could max out the fire rate, move speed and magnet, and push through to the end. But that satisfying feeling didn't come for a _long_ time... I think I still feel like the game deserves to be a little easier early on, to make it more inviting for players.
Innovation: Yes - haven't played a shmup from this perspective, it's strange.
Theme: Yes
Graphics: Funny, and they serve their purpose.
Audio: Fantastic - love the speech.
Humor: Very funny thanks to the silly speech and the funny enemies.
Mood: Funny but at the same time intense thanks to the difficult gameplay.
Pretty fun game! At first look I didn't know what to think but then I got the concept. I like the sound effects. Good job!
