I give Carl the coin but then I am not able to pick up the paper in the next room for the copier that he asks me to refill. I really like the art and setting for this game though, and also that one endless room is pretty cool. The game also has a tendency to crash in the elevator.

miklo 2021-04-27 08:19

God I love the aesthetic. Shame about the bugs though.

ardorugus 2021-05-05 22:09

Bureaucracy is bugged, even in hell. Loved the design.

jk5000 2021-05-06 08:42

I played the jam version and yes it's a bit buggy and unfinished. But I liked the visuals, and the story part I so was pretty good.

axeltherabbit 2021-05-06 12:36

It seems really cool, is there any chance you could port it to linux? :p

sevkron 2021-05-06 12:43

The Post Ludum Dare version is terrific, very glad you were able to get sound in the game and having it mostly bug-free ! I really liked the graphics and general idea of bureaucracy in hell. You really nailed the PS1 aesthetics and the absurdist mix on photography/3D/2D.

taylor-carroll 2021-05-06 15:56

Really loved the theming and atmosphere. However I had multiple bugs/crashes with the elevator. That said I tried your revised version and had a much better time. Great concept and design.

sleepystudios 2021-05-06 18:40

Any idea why I get "Fatal error" with the jam version? Would love to play it.

neithernathan 2021-05-06 18:47

@sleepystudios Unfortunately i really don't know :(. To fix it i had to change Unreal version and it kinda magically vanished

fabula-rasa 2021-05-06 23:02

I tried to play the jam version and was not able to get very far - I could not pick up the copier paper. Tried twice with the same result. I liked the visual style - it reminded me of Gilliam's animated interludes in Monty Python movies. And the concept is very cool.

I didn't like the text presentation (it cuts away, is poorly readable) - but I see you fixed that in the post-jam version already :).

I absolutley love this! It's like some blend of Doom, PS1 Horror and liminal space. The set pieces were diverse, the graphics were awesome and even obivous resource and time savers like the repeating cubicles or cut in half people added a lot of personality to the game. Not to mention that jazzy background music. Platforming felt janky but otherwise the controls added to that Doom feel. Absolutley excited to see more projects from you in the future!

t-c 2021-05-07 02:39

Really cool idea. Gotta echo the other comments saying love the atmosphere. Well done!

leyaotang 2021-05-07 03:51

redtape.png A great kafka-like experience! I think it will be a new videogame genre now, kafka-like. It is also a mix between Mario 64 and The Stanley Parable. I will review it more in Portuguese - Avaliando sua build para a LD48 senti que vocês construíram primeiramente o level design e depois rechearam o prédio ludicamente.

bluishgreenpro 2021-05-07 19:28

Very amusing! One thing I didn't mention on stream; the text is pretty hard to read, which is why I would shake the camera around to force the text against different colored backgrounds to read it. I would recommend a semi-transparent solid-color box (black, white, or grey) behind the text to improve contrast.

aquasheep3000 2021-05-08 00:13

Can confirm, jam version is cool, but hell is HOT!!! My GPU hit 82 degrees C as I tried to get to the end of the fourth floor. Great aesthetic and fun idea.

theblindeye 2021-05-08 09:33

Wow, it's a hidden treasure.

I can't imagine how you guys made all the levels in 72 hours.

One thing I want to ask: How did you make the textures?, shaders?

Overall wonderful game :D

francisco-lucas 2021-05-08 20:10

In the ludum dare version we managed to make it in 72 hours, basically all levels and movement, but the game was still incomplete and crashing. For textures we use low resolution images, but they need to undergo special treatment, and in the game we use ps1 shaders. @theblindeye thank you so much for enjoying our game!

picross 2021-05-09 19:21

Wow, fantastic work. I kept forgetting it was an LD game. Great atmosphere, graphics, dialogue, and audio. The ending was hilarious. Really nice job!

cheesepencil 2021-05-10 03:41

Please make a web build so I can play your game! *pfv faca versao q posso jogar no browser*

vixenmink 2021-05-11 02:07

A few buggy sections but the thought that there were layers and layers of corporate hell lol

coleslaughter 2021-05-12 21:03

[Thanks for submitting your game to the stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1015845981?t=01h55m38s)

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to finish it on stream! :slight_frown: But I really really enjoyed the humor and aesthetic of this one! I really haven't seen any other entry look like this, and add the clever writing on top of it, and you've got a solid entry right here! Really enjoyed this one.

soul-grinder 2021-05-13 17:33

Congrats on making this in 72hrs, looks like a lot of efforts gone into it. Cool choice for the theme, running deeper and deeper in Hell's offices to get a form signed by the Devil, fun idea. I liked the PS1 style 3D graphics and the textures. Nice work with the box art and the poster on the itch page too.

deathstorm 2021-05-13 22:05

A great game which remembers me on the old time where rotating 2D Sprites where state of the Art ;)

I like the Game Design, the music and the Story. The Graphic was fine and I loved the Twist in the End.

Unfortunately there was not Epilog for Carpete, that was really sad. ;)

Great Game, well done

**Analysis...**

1 - Mechanics, Learning and Flow: The main mechanic is to go through a narrative performing some tasks at the request of the interlocutors, in the expectation of the main character getting the signature of the Devil for his role. Learning to control the character was quick, I had only a few difficulties with some specific points such as: not being able to get away from characters while talking (but being able to jump); small cuts in the text boxes (which may have prevented me from fully understanding some phrases); getting stuck in the "magma" that didn't kill me (but I managed to learn to jump (I jump really high and far from my starting point, which gave me some action by playing a few times); falling into infinity when passing through some "blue walls" . I was not able to complete the game to say with full propriety about its flow, but I was interested in knowing what else would happen (the game seemed to me to be quite based on criticism of the behavior of some influential people and on the bureaucracy itself).

2 - Graphics, Audio and Narrative: I really liked the graphics (I was a little behind being processed by some people, so I went "straight" through some posted papers that made some criticisms (even though I agree with a lot of what I saw)). There was no audio in the version I downloaded, I suppose they could build something interesting and that could even help guide the player in a few moments. Unfortunately I was unable to appreciate the whole narrative, but I could see that there was a good job in building some personalities and dialogues; besides having presented an interesting initial narrative and elements of scenery that corroborated with that.

3 - Culture: The game has a lot to do with the vision that compares Hell with bureaucracy, in addition to being filled with symbolisms and references. This can make it easier for the game to connect with people through culture.

4 - Monetization: I believe that the game, in a finished version (and with the necessary polishing), could be sold at low cost on itch.io.

First thing comes to mind when playing this is William Shatner's Tekwar sci-fi FPS.. I just lost patience after a number of 'fatal-error' prompts.. Despite attempting to speedrun through the process.. At times I would hear machine fans going on full-blast? (What in tarnation is going on?) lol Looks promising on the totality of this bureaucratic fetch quest.. Keep going!

ismael-rodriguez 2021-05-18 02:05

VERY COOL LOOKING GAME! There's something very unsettling about everyone turning away from you.

The jam version seems un-playable. Like others said, I couldn't pick up the paper for the copy machine.

The post jam version is a totally different story, and very well done! Good job!
