i must find a controller to play this game because the keyboard controls feel so odd. however, i like the overall idea of the game: not a revolution in video game industry, but it's a good roguelite with nice 3D art, and it's really cool for a compo game!!

also it's great to see that the progression is saved after quitting the page, because i can totally see myself coming back to this game in a near future because i haven't been able to finish a hard run yet!

I played this game for wayyy t long. Very addictive and nice, but the controls are horrible on a keyboard. I don´t have a joypad here so can´t say how that would have been. However, good game. Rally liked it.

devdevice 2023-10-03 08:19

When i leave the circle, popup doesn't disappear and when i use it later game crash - Thats not a problem because of saving. Enemy dissapear when u drive away, some spawn behind map. Truck need more upgrade. But still pretty fun to play!

lastuck 2023-10-05 12:44

Really cool game! I think for the keyboard control you should have made it relative to the trucks rotation to make it easier, because it's a bit confusing at first

kasmilus 2023-10-05 12:50

It's a pretty addictive game. Core idea is quite nice but I feel like the design is not really focused - there's a lot of elements here (various upgrades, survivors, combat) but they don't always work together in the most exciting way. Not sure how that could be improved, maybe keeping survivors between runs and allowing players to upgrade them directly? Anyways, art style is really nice and I liked the combat (especially if I found some decent survivors). btw. with a truck like that you HAVE TO give us ability to cut down trees! First thing I tried and it didn't work! :)

milq 2023-10-05 12:59

Highly addictive! It takes a bit to get the hang of it initially, but afterward, it's phenomenal. I love those low-poly graphics, and everything is very consistent! The controls can be a bit confusing at first, but they're a joy once you get used to them. I miss having some music, but even so: an outstanding game!

jaaskeh 2023-10-05 13:43

Was about to upgrade everything, but then I managed to drive off the map and into the abyss, which resulted in a softlock. I also think that the input should be relative to the car to be more intuitive. A great entry though, and I also found the idea of kicking someone out of the vehicle for someone better pretty funny!

I played for like 25 minutes, this game is actually fun. In the end the game crashed but I got pretty powerful. It's a fun idea where you have to balance upgrading your wood capacity and your attack power in order to grow in power as fast as possible. What I ended up doing however, was maxing out my speed immediately and just driving through level 1 tanking the enemies and gathering wood. Some added audio would have helped and a better sound for the truck since I eventually just took my headphones off due to it's annoying nature. Even though the game wasn't extremely polished, the gameplay was there and the fact that I still enjoyed it that much shows how much potential there is. Great game!

winie 2023-10-05 15:20

Updating the truck makes a lot of fun,

magalix 2023-10-05 16:15

Annoying sounds and controls but the core concept is good ! fun and addictive somehow

diccuric-sigeon 2023-10-05 16:22

it was fun till i don't fell under ground

eliyud 2023-10-05 17:02

The game is a quite slow, but fun! It can be better improved, of course, out of the JAM. Good job!

lovewerk 2023-10-05 17:45

wow there's so much here! As others have said, it's fun and addictive. I'll share my thoughts on the balancing. At first it feels good to find a stronger survivor, but losing them all at the end of the level didn't. I would have liked if they were persistent between levels and could level up on their own. If you run out of health on a level, you lose all your soldiers. I think this would strengthen the gameplay by giving a risk/reward choice for engaging zombies. As it stands now, I was just blazing through each level trying to get enough wood to unlock everything (I gave up after the grind stopped being fun).

The upgrade system is nice overall, but it also had some drawbacks. Even though all the upgrades make you more powerful, some of them made the game a litle less fun. The soldier quality upgrade took away the nice feeling of finding a high quality soldier. Perhaps instead of raising the minimum level (so eventually you always got a 5-star soldier), it raised the center point of a range. Perhaps at full upgrade, it would give soldiers between level 3 and level 7 (special boosts above level 5).

The AOE options like grenades and missiles were strangely balanced against the guns. At first, they were significantly weaker than the guns due to small radius, minimal damage, (and me not knowing how to get the missiles to hit). It seems like the explosives only benefit from the damage bonus on the first target, so their damage upgrade is much less valuable than the gun variant. While the explosive radius upgrade compensates, it somehow feels worse to take out a horde of zombies with 10 blasts compared to a rifle taking out one zombie per shot in the same total time. The other problem is that by unlocking explosives, the chances of finding a gun soldier went down, so it was a significant downgrade until I could afford to upgrade them. On the missiles, they were so slow that the only way I could figure out how to consistently hit (without dying) was to run directly away from the zombies so they were in a straight line. This meant that unlike all other weapons, when you got a missile soldier, the only way to play was by drawing aggro and kiting a horde in a straight line. This excacerbated the issue where hordes disable/despawn when you get far enough away from their origin (Perhaps hordes should only deactivate based on distance if they are not actively chasing the player?)

I did experience a few bugs (health bar jumping to 0 then back up, falling out of the map, truck flying up in the air when hitting a barricade, getting softlocked when returning to base while the menu to select a new soldier was up).

Finally, it would be nice if a survivor was automatically picked up if you had the space. It would definitely help things flow a little better when you start grinding the levels for wood. Also, implementing saving between sessions is awesome!

Overall it was really fun and you did a great job! Thanks for sharing your work.

tetrergeru 2023-10-05 18:48

Gisnt saws on the front part of the car really looked like something that would rip and tear! Maybe I just didn't find the way to use it with the insane amount of comntent you have here! Good job

anotherlorena 2023-10-06 02:06

I would've liked it to have some music around and not only the SFX , also, it took me a while to get used to the way of moving around haha but it might be me ☺ it is a good game and fun to play! :)

cheesepencil 2023-10-07 06:27

It's a little game with a lot of character and goodness I love procedural content. I probably could have done better if I played with a little more strategy but it was cool seeing how far I could go. Good jam game

fredial 2023-10-07 06:27

It's very engaging, it would be even better if I could chop down trees!

2023-10-07 07:17

Nice concept! The controls takes a bit time to get used, selecting survivors by dragging them is also not intuitive, maybe just select and confirm would be an option too? I didn't know why I'm collecting woods or why I cannot get it from trees. Would be nice to have a tooltip over it to know how the upgrade system works. Otherwise, really nice game!

avi 2023-10-07 07:25

This is a dope game!! I loved the mechanics and found this to be quite an original concept:)

Potential thought for expanding the idea: maybe after the level you can keep the survivors and upgrade them -- give them different abilities etc.

rolferm 2023-10-07 07:28

I really liked the graphics and style of game. Unfortunately I fell of the map.

freamdev 2023-10-07 07:40

Loved the art style and the idea of kind-of endless runner in a car, but the keyboard controls made it very difficult to progress. Solid entry otherwise.

dxk2294 2023-10-07 07:40

Great job, this was a lot of fun! I spent a while playing - it's definitely engaging. A few comments:

- Would have liked to see more meaningful placement of survivors - The collision for survivor pickup did not seem to match the visuals perfectly - The "Back" vs "Proceed" button naming tripped me up a few times - A speed boost mechanic would be great!

tanis 2023-10-07 07:46

Nice idea, very cool progression. It would have been nice if you added a soundtrack. Overall a very nice game. Grats!

diadem-games 2023-10-07 07:49

Sadly I had a very low framerate (with my integrated GPU) and did therefore not play too long. But I love this kind of game and the fact that you built it this very short time is impressive. Also, while the controls feel a bit unusual at first, it actually feels easier then if Up-is-acceleration, left/right-is-turn. So, actually more like moving a character than driving a car (which is great for people who are not too much into car-games). I think you did a good job implementing this style of control.

rekate 2023-10-07 08:01

Very fun roguelite. Even if the keyboard controls were a bit questionable, I got used to them quite quickly. Overall very Fun game even if not completely groundbreaking.

denzel 2023-10-07 10:06

Cool idea, i got stuck in some trees and they destroyed my car

archaeognathus 2023-10-07 10:38

I dont think I ever played an LD game for that long... I unlocked everything xD All issues/bugs i encountered were already mentioned above... so all thats left is a thumbs up ;)

olenikimid 2023-10-07 10:40

I like the idea and it's easy to see how the core loop could be significantly expanded upon.

arc1llusion 2023-10-07 12:23

Cool idea!

My feedback mirrors some others, and if I were to play again I don't think I'd get the missile or grenade upgrades when standard gun soldiers are more or less better, at least in the time I played.

I also didn't feel super pressed to worry about the limited space, but I like the idea. Perhaps if I played later in the game it would have been more pronounced. I also agree with automatically picking up survivors if you have the space that someone else mentioned.

Other than that, great entry! It was a lot of fun overall!

constance 2023-10-07 13:57

Very well executed idea, I had a lot of fun playing it! I love the low-poly graphics and the scene lighting and color palette, they're very pleasing to the eyes. The audio is also great including the engine sound, the shooting sound and the damage sound. And the jam theme was represented very clearly through the mechanics.

But as some others have mentioned, I too found the keyboard controls were a bit off, and it took me a while to get used to the driving of the truck. One more thing is when the UI got brought up like picking passengers for example, the game got paused but the audio didn't, which makes the sound keep playing while I was focusing on the UI.

But anyway, this game has a lot of potential for postjam updates and improvements. What an amazing entry, my man!

sid37 2023-10-07 21:11

An interesting game, I want even more of these levels

skel3ton 2023-10-08 10:38

how is the game isometric the controls are so awkward for me...

otherwise it's addictive and fun

I appreciate the many different maps

francisco-lucas 2023-10-09 04:14

Wow, I played for a LONG time, it was really cool! My only feedback would be on the car controls; I found it a bit tricky to control at first, but I got used to it later on. Apart from that, I played for almost an hour; the progression is great and challenging. Good game!

mofox 2023-10-11 10:19

膜拜大佬!

mofox 2023-10-11 10:39

有个bug就是离开回收圈后还可以回说,其他都太nb了

mofox 2023-10-11 10:43

还有就是血量会被ad键控制

dsk 2023-10-12 03:58

Awesome idea, enjoy the process of playing the game!!!

单人开发出这个完成度,大佬tql!!!

lincolnsalles 2023-10-13 07:34

It wasn't very clear what to do

juanrod707 2023-10-14 13:20

Yeah, this got me hooked, amazing job! With a little bit more polish and variation this could be something very interesting, it have me a lot of vampire survival meets zombie driver vibes.

flightless 2023-10-18 21:33

I must have spent half an hour collecting wood  Very enjoyable.

aweskybear 2023-10-19 14:07

That was super fun! I played long enough.. maybe an hour. Like the progression a lot! Like the upgrades a lot.. like the choice of upgrades and cities a lot! It's good, **very solid**.

I found **a bug** that ended my game XD - the bad guys PUSHED me off the level and I flew till the end of eternity ://////// NOOO

Apart from that - amazing! Some music would be awesome too (but didn't lack!).
