I really liked this but gosh dang am I bad at determining which direction to go. One of my favorites of the jam, awesome job.
Solid entry. Really enjoyed this one! I honestly don't have any complaints with it. As others mentioned it controls nice and the core mechanic is pretty innovative.
Excellent game. Well done! Could easily turn this into the full experience.
Have to agree the previous commenter with slowing down the falling blocks, or allowing your block to be a bit faster. The floaty jump can make it hard to react to the whold hting.
Good job though, and an interesting concept! I enjoyed it!
The jumping feels very icey and hard to control. It's also difficult to tell when you can't throw anymore pieces and it's basically a death sentence to start over. I liked the theme though and with some improvements like an indicator of some kind on your available pieces you can throw then it'd be pretty fun!
Graphics are really nice and expressive (Like on the sacrificing slab). Well done! I'm not very tactical though so it was pretty hard for me! Haha
@tadpolily @yopox @imaship Thanks for the kind words guys!
@metalfox-dioxymore Thanks for the tip, I actually agree with you. We wanted more NPCs for example but unfortunately just ran out of time. It would've helped make the maps feel a little more lively.
@aortega @ninnec @coleslaughter Thanks for the kind words and tips guys.
We definitely agree with the pacing. Movement could've sped up. We wanted to add an exp system, but as they say time got in the way. Maybe next time we decide to do a turn based rpg ;)
As others have said the UI and graphics are spot on. I thought the audio was decent as well. But I also agree that having more effects play for the cards or camera panning to the not so obvious ones. Overall excellent work!
Great take on the theme. I managed to beat it! Would love to see a fleshed out version of this. Great job!
Liked this a lot, I didn't win but I'm guessing I was close. I ran out of items after the city. Well done! In particular I thought the characters and mood were top knotch.
The controls feel nice and responsive, and the theme was pretty good too! Challenging, there was one obstacle that I didn't even realize could kill me (Gray spike things?). Animations were nice as others said. Well done!
The art and music are great, but there isn't much to the game itself. It fits the theme well enough but I do wish there was more to it or some kind of goal there. Otherwise it was relaxing to play, good job!
I had a hard time with the controls as others said, but I liked the concept, the music, and the graphics. Neat little game :)
I like having the choice of sacrificing the fruit workers or not :) Well done! Love the take on the theme.
Graphics really remind me of Downwell. It's a good little game, I like it a lot! I have to agree that I mentally couldn't get past space being jump. It made it a lot harder than it otherwise would have but that's mostly on me :)
So sad when you lose :'(
Love the concept and game! Well polished!
Love it. Don't know why but it gave me an Earthbound vibe. Well done!
One of the more interesting mechanics and take son a theme I've seen. Super well done and fun minigame at the end!
Love the concept by why are the keyboard controls not just standard WASD? Left was Q and Up was Z while S and D were what I expected. Other than that it came out pretty good!
Like the take on the theme. Some cool puzzle designs too. Good job!
Nice little game. In addition, some sort of end game would've also helped a bit.
It's pretty similar to what we had! I feel you on missing the extra day though. That's the day we added sound to ours so I get how much that can add to the end result :)
Solid entry!
Great art style and interesting concept. Ambient effects were great too. Maybe increase the movement speed. Does picking up stuff decrease it over time? That's my only real minor gripe. Otherwise a solid entry!
Those homing enemies are brutal! Solid entry. I love the art and concept. Simple and easy to pick up and play. Great work!
Great entry :) Can see this becoming addicting!
Managed to beat it, I liked this one quite a lot! Good job!
Liked the graphics a lot. The platforming was pretty good with some room for improvement as others have mentioned. Interesting take on the theme too! Good job.
Some pretty neat levels in this. Good job!
Cool game. I agree with others that said aiming is probably the hardest part to get used to but once you do it's a lot of fun. Good entry!
Cool idea!
My feedback mirrors some others, and if I were to play again I don't think I'd get the missile or grenade upgrades when standard gun soldiers are more or less better, at least in the time I played.
I also didn't feel super pressed to worry about the limited space, but I like the idea. Perhaps if I played later in the game it would have been more pronounced. I also agree with automatically picking up survivors if you have the space that someone else mentioned.
Other than that, great entry! It was a lot of fun overall!
@fernando-labarta @sanjeev Thanks for the feedback guys.
We played with the idea of making the enemies stronger over time, but more or less ran out of time trying to balance them. I'll put in more timed waves next time too :)
But yeah, once you get past the first wave it's pretty easy!
@alans-antics I'm a bit late, but I wanted to add one thing that @Snowdrama talked about with the enemy pathing. The enemies actually spawned in so-called "Zones", which is to say, in a random point in a circle. This is why the enemies may behave a bit differently between attempts. Whether or not this is ideal is debatable :)
You should probably add a way to quit when the game is full screen. I had to task manager close the game.
Otherwise pretty and pretty solid, if a little clunky on the movement as others have mentioned. Really dig the aesthetic.
