I really like art style of your game, it's awesome!
Art is cool and it's funny but I chose card a bit randomly and I won. I don't get a felling of control on the game.
@Anonymous Thank you for your feedback!! Our artists seem happy about it.
@nakami Hey thanks for your review! Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to balance the game so I apologise if the game feels a bit 'random' (it is very RNG at times). The game is quite easy, but maybe with some small tweaks we could make it harder and have it feel less random. Thank you again for your feedback!
Great loading screen :)
The art is pretty cool but even always getting bad cards chosen by the gods I won the game without knowing how.
the art is so gud! The Ui is very nice. Maybe a bit of feedback from the game when u use cards would have helped with the overall gameplay. I don't have the feeling my cards do much.
Really cool concept, I think if you had a bit more control with the cards then it might feel a little less random. I kinda won by accident. But nice job overall and the art style is great!
I like the art, think the music didnt fit with it though. Building on the art you have this could be a really cool idea
@janwalsh haha thanks! Inspired by the sims games...
@angelnm sorry about that! We didnt really have much time for some balancing and better telegraphing. Lesson learned for the next jam :)
@something-something-games Thanks so much! Yeah the RNG is a bit too much here, agreed. Going to try to do something better next time around.. perhaps actually make a good AI and some better consequences!
@eretol thanks! Well, we didn't really have audio designers in the team and were in a rush to get something out. So we didn't want to get rated for audio for that reason. Next Dare we'll definitely think more about it! Thanks for your feedback!
Very nice entry! Really enjoyed playing it. The art is very stylish too. Good job!
I like the art and the concept for this game. Now that you have more time to put into it, I could see it growing into something pretty cool.
If you had to actually plot out their villages and make decisions about how they run their civilization, *and* make decisions on cards to sacrifice, then I could see it being super interesting.
Letting the player get closer to the action to decide what the village does in order to expand (designate X people to hunt, Y to farm, Z to build, etc.) could be fun.
As it is now, it kind of lacks gameplay. Others have said this already so I won't harp on about it, but I didn't get the impression that my decisions made a difference. The only thing I felt could cause a real problem would be if the gods chose that card that set a house on fire, because I always seemed to have plenty livestock and plenty trees, and the water never came close to the houses, but I always only had 1 or 2 houses at a time (unless I just didn't see the others).
But hey, 3 days is a ridiculously low amount of time to make a game, and you made something pretty impressive in that time.
When I first started playing I thought that the 'sacrificed' cards were cards I was playing, and the cards with two opposite effects (e.g. "population grows more rapidly or starts dwindling") would do the positive effect if I played them, and the negative effect if the gods played them.
Then I realized I was just discarding things I didn't want the gods to use (right?).
Maybe play with the idea of making every card two-sided like that, and the player actually plays the good side themselves every so often, but must choose a card to play the bad side every now and then? Then the player is somewhat in control of the situation.
All in all, good job and I'm interested in where this goes, if you keep working on it!
*P.S.: Does the rain falling and water expanding actually do anything? Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention. I'm assuming you didn't have time to put rainfall in, or perhaps it doesn't show well in the WebGL version?*
As others have said the UI and graphics are spot on. I thought the audio was decent as well. But I also agree that having more effects play for the cards or camera panning to the not so obvious ones. Overall excellent work!
Interesting idea. I'm not quite sure if it was just in my session, but it would be nice to see more of the population. Also it wasn't directly cleary, that my population needs to survive 5 days to win. Maybe some kind of progressbar might fit here?
I really enjoyed the mood. The UI is gorgeous, the world is cute and the sounds effects really trigger memories of these rainy days where you just stay at home in a warm blanket.
Good artstyle, nice sound effects, and a very good experience!
We kind of did a similar concept loved it! Wish the options were more 2-3 times same card popped and didnt have any choice. Good job!
Great idea and awesome look! Beautiful music! Simple enough to figure out what to do. But after three games in a row I don't know how to lose in this game ><
Kinda basic concept, but good implementation. I would say this is one of the more original ideas I've seen so far. :)
Nice idea! Very good UI!
I liked the idea of the game and the art is amazing. Though, I don't really feel like I can do anything, I won on the first try and I didn't see anything happen or change throughout the playthrough. I also see what you tried to do with the theme but it didn't really feel like sacrificing since I usually had like 3 cards of the same type, so it happened anyway.
I would love to play it again when it is updated though :) I think that it has a lot of potential! I mean for 2/3 days of work this is beautiful :)
I've tried really hard but failed to wipe these pesky villagers out of existence. Several times :( Throbber is really cool, btw
Pretty nice game! I love the UI that you made for it, looks pretty sick. The main concept is really intresting too. Great work!
Nice game)
The mood and graphics were great, love this style of art. Especially the cards and UI. However, like some have said before, didn't really seem like I had a whole lot of control and won anyway. Also, I had the rains fall and waters rise card picked twice and I didn't see anything change. Not sure if that's a bug or I wasn't paying attention. Overall an interesting concept.
Really cool concept and very nice graphics ! Maybe it should last longer or be more difficult because we left jungry after turn 5 ;)
Thanks everyone for your kind words! We're aware of some unfortunate issues regarding difficulty and some effects not properly displaying. We've learned a lot from our second Ludum Dare jam and taking all this new knowledge with us to the next, in 2019. We greatly appreciate the feedback given here, the honesty of them is wonderful. Thank you.
I liked your game, it has a great atmosphere! Melancholic ambient vibes and polished UI... I'm looking forward to 2019 to play your next title :)
@joramwolters Thanks for sharing! I really like the aesthetic, though the interface for some reason seemed a bit confusing to me, or like crowded? Anyway, I had a good time and apparently won!

Your art is great - palet is sweet, UI is clear and very stylish. Overall game looks gorgeous.
However, I didn't quite feel the game - I've just picked some random cards and won it after day 5. I don't know if I've missed something very important.
Overall, you guys are great. I've played your game at LD40 and I can tell that you have talent and passion. Good luck!
Very nice looking UI and that Title Screen is pretty amazing. I had fun playing it, even if I don't know how I managed this. You guys did a great job :)
Einstein once said that "God does not play dice with the universe", but looks that he play cards... hehe
Well, the game is very polished, the art style is very nice and fits with the theme. My only complaint is that sometime is hard to see what is write on the card, the font is very thin and small.
Overall, is a really good game. Good job!
Good looking game, I don't really feel like the cards sacrifice much though. I give up one bad card for another and their effects are luck based anyway. You mostly sit and watch things happen, and the repeating cards lend it a small replay value.
