Cool concept, and great city! Thanks so much for bringing it by the stream!

wassim 2020-04-21 22:13

@erebus Thank you and Thanks so much for your honest feedback, Really appreciate it!

cheesepencil 2020-04-23 03:31

Procedurally generated world? That's pretty cool!

wassim 2020-04-23 04:09

Thank you @cheesepencil !

robowarrior1982 2020-04-23 15:08

This idea and the concept is simple but it works very well. But there is a problem with the camera, her angle is fixed and when a building is between the camera and the player i can't move in the area.

tortoisegames 2020-04-23 15:12

The game is cool and fun but I have a couple of things to say. 1. the objects/assets should go opaque bcs sometimes it's hard to see. 2. is that the energy mechanic is unbalanced, it goes too fast down and it refills to slowly. But besides this the game it very good

bastinus-rex 2020-04-23 21:58

It was really good ! Well executed, very funny, good polish,... very cool !

wassim 2020-04-24 04:02

@robowarrior1982 Yes I understand, You can rotate the camera around using middle mouse button and the player hiding in the buildings sadly was due to short time of the Jam, Will fix that in Post Jam Versions hopefully!

wassim 2020-04-24 05:48

@tortoisegames Thank you so much for your detaild feedback, will take into consideration and tweak it more in Post Jam Versions!

wassim 2020-04-24 05:49

@bastinus-rex Thank you so much, Glad you liked it!

Hi there! I played your game on-stream last night. If you missed it, I welcome you to check out the VOD (link to my channel is in my profile).

Very impressed with the level of detail going on here - and I'd be interested to understand how you executed the randomly generated city, because it worked very well: no bugs to be seen with that!

At one point I ran out of energy and it got a little frustrating that I could not move. I spent about a minute or so just moving a few feet and pausing. Perhaps instead of stopping the player entirely, low energy should simply slow them down.

One other thing (if you continue to work on this) - it would be great to have some solution for identifying the player's position when they are occluded to the camera by a building. Perhaps moving the camera closer in those situations... or adding a silhouette.

Really impressed at the scale of game you were able to accomplish in a weekend. Nicely done!

@walkalope Hello Thank you so much for your support and Detailed Feedback, I watched your VOD sorry I couldn't tune in at that time but Your feedback and Gameplay was really helpful, Of course will take every remarks you said into consideration. Since you're interested, I used some Procedural generation for all the Game Data: Players, NPCs and Items It's laking a bit and sometimes it messes up but of course will get to fix most of the bugs in future post jam versions Thanks again for playing!

larsdu 2020-05-02 18:29

You might want to mention that you used Synty studios assets fyi

wassim 2020-05-02 22:22

@larsdu I have licensed assets and I did opt-out the Graphics Category Ratings respecting all of those who put efforts to create original graphics content even tho there are some models that's been modelled during the Jam, It's not against the rules and yes I always mentioned that assets been used in the game!

wassim 2020-05-02 22:22

EDIT: Oops the message duplicated xD

kdgame 2020-05-02 23:55

I like the graphics but it's hard when there are buildings blocking the camera

frozen-spirit 2020-05-03 01:05

Fun concept. The buildings did block the way sometimes but apart from that this was a super cool, well polished game. :]

jk5000 2020-05-03 08:30

A simple and fun little game idea. It is a bit difficult to survive for very long, but I still had fun trying your game.

wassim 2020-05-03 14:20

@kdgame @frozen-spirit @jk5000 Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!

fatpenguin 2020-05-04 17:21

Hey there, cool entry & idea, was fun running around the streets as Hipster ("Homeless man".. yeah right..) ^^^ The Graphics looked sweet, bummer I can't vote on that, or did you get them from the aset store or something? And that case, well chosen ;) The controls sadly didn't live up to my expectations but as this is a complex thing I assume you simply didn't have enough time. Things I would change if you want to continue to work on that: - be able to zoom out further, OR provide a mini map, so you cannot blindly run into your demise (GTA Style or something ^^) - how the left click worked was kind of weird, like if I click in another direction he does that path first? Other games like Witcher 1 or Lague of Legends do it so the last click is the one you move to, I would strongly advise you to do that as well :) - make objectives, highscore games are waaaay lamer and it's not so much mre work plus you can have fun while thinking of levels ;D - make it easier to escape the cops. I tried to do a runner a couple of times but the slow camera movement/rotation failed me :( hiding in houses or wastebins like others suggesting is a good idea as well! I think in general the player should be a abit faster than the cops (or make a "run" button that drains stamina or something) so you can get away a desired amount of distance before you can hide, I think that would make this thing really fun! You could make it that if the cop chases you, he tells his colleague and all (or a couple of cops nearby) try to corner you and run towards you, so yo have to thing of a quick strategy to escape and keep an eye on the situation on the map while doing aprupt manouvers like a rabbit t get rid of them; I can imagine that to be a lot of fun! You could even do a multiplayer with that :)

Good job on finishing your game!

jonathan-lorenz 2020-05-04 21:42

Nice little game, good mood. I didn't quite understood the deal with the energy. Imho it is a bit anoying to be stopped and to have to wait. I understand what you were going for but I don't think it is a good idea to stop the play or restrain his actions. One solution could be that if you are low on energy, you make more noise that can call the cops or something like that. Again, that's only my opinion. Good work overall!

disthron 2020-05-05 08:02

So I was not able to survive more than a a couple of seconds. I think 17 was my top time. The tall buildings were constantly blocking my view and I couldn't zoom out enough to get a good look around. I was constantly running straght into cops that were just off screen, or blocked by a huge building and it really made the game no fun at all.

khyrgrim 2020-05-05 08:08

Graphics are great !

wassim 2020-05-05 12:28

@fatpenguin Thank you so much for your detailed feedback and your time that you put to give your thoughts on how the game will improve, Will for sure take your feedback into considerations in the next Post Jam version, Thanks again!

wassim 2020-05-05 12:28

@jonathan-lorenz Thank you for your honest feedback really appreciated!

wassim 2020-05-05 12:30

@disthron I'm sorry that the game didn't live up to your expectations, It was a tight time and I think you could imagine how a game jam game would be would of course fix that issue and maybe you skipped the camera controlling part cause you can rotate the camera around when you're in tight place, Thanks you for your feedback!

wassim 2020-05-05 12:32

@khyrgrim Thank you Graphics are mixed with an asset pack, Not all the game is made out of assets but respecting all of those who made original content I opt-out the Category but Thank you It's nice to see that the polishing came to all your expectations!

disthron 2020-05-05 12:41

@wassim I realize you might not have had time to implement something like making the close buildings invisible but I think maybe you should have considered not having tall buidings in your game. If you'd limited your generator to only having 1 or 2 story buildings this might not have been an issue. Just something to considedr.

wassim 2020-05-05 12:43

@disthron Yes I appreciate your feedback, I was just pointing out that there is a camera rotation option that helped people with that issue and Thank you again for your feedback

fatpenguin 2020-05-05 16:53

@wassim No worries, I'm glad I could help out, I'm sure you will make something cool :) if you ever need a little break from gamedev, you can check out our game if you'd like :D

jmad 2020-05-08 22:24

Great graphics, and cool base concept. My camera was at the top of a building right from the start everytime, so I couldn't see a thing and made it a bit confusing at first. Was reaaaally hard to get see a thing between tall buildings. It would have been easier to control movement with keyboard and camera with mouse, not everything with mouse, especially when we have tu run away / hide and rotate the view quickly.

I managed to survive 57 seconds at some point! No energy left, and copper got to me. Appart from the camera issue, everything was smooth, and I quite enjoyed playing.

wassim 2020-05-10 13:06

@fatpenguin Yeah for sure will be giving it a try!

wassim 2020-05-10 13:07

@jmad Thank you so much for the detailed feedback, True the game still needs a lot of tweaking and may been difficult at first with the issues made it a bit more frusterating but everythingh will be fixed in a post jam version, Thank you again for your feedback much appreciated!
