Very nice game idea! The music had a catchy beat to it and suited the art style well. I did find the parry mechanic unclear and would have liked a bit more of an explanation on how that worked.

It would be interesting to see how things could look if fleshed out more.

Overall good effort!

the parry-window is extremely tight!! ideas for this game is very exciting though, i was interested to explore this dungeon and summoning items is an interesting idea too!

Took me a minute to get a hang of the parry and the menu navigation, but it was a piece of cake after! Failing the arrow input appeared to be too forgiving _(resetting the timer)_

Interesting game combining turn based combat with guitar hero! As others mentioned, parrying was a bit confusing. I wasn't sure if the location of my weapon was related to the parry location. The first time the text about parrying showed up, the textbox was kind of long, and was not visible for that long, so I didn't get to read it entirely before it went away.

Overall, pretty polished game!

I never got a parry to work, no idea what the timing is supposed to be, but the tunes are great and production values are high.

Interesting game! I love the part of the hitting the keys to summon. The parry system is also very interesting, I like it! Also the art of the person is great and the vibe is also good!

Prety polished and a great start! I would have keep playing for sure!

Nice concept. Damn that cold that prevented you from doing more.

alexhoratio 2024-04-20 01:32

Damn, I wish it didn't end so soon  Cool game!

Nice game. After summoning the sword i had no idea there was still text on the left hand side. Second time around it was easy, lol. Good try. Every time you enter you will get better at time management. Its my 10th+ time and i am still not good at it.

There's a lot of potential here, the introduction was solid and I liked what you were going for with the combat. I do agree with other comments that the parry window was hard to read, but that seems like something a little visual feedback would solve pretty easily. Ultimately, I was left wanting to play more. The introduction and first fight hooked me, it was a little disappointing when there wasn't more play time but that's understandable with the time constraints and I think a good reflection of the quality of what did make it into the entry. Great job!

A good idea for the game! :D Obviously there was not much there yet, but this could be fleshed out to be quite an addictive game, I'm sure

Was not able to parry, did not really understand what time window I was supposed to try and was there penalty for trying too early or late. Could be improved by visualizing the time window somehow.

Interesting game. Never was able to successfully parry. You built an impressive engine considering the time. Also good music.

zirconcode 2024-04-23 18:03

I managed to parry a few times and defeat the entrance door, I think the summoning minigame and the parry (with some clearer signals) is a fun combo, nice work!

kaliuresis 2024-04-24 04:26

Cool game and great music! I'm not sure exactly how the different combat mechanics were meant to interact, but there are definitely interesting directions you could go with it. The intro was intriguing and had me wanting more.

chuckiee 2024-04-24 09:16

That's a very big scope but pleasantly surprised with the quality! Not sure if there is a difference between hammer and sword though? Will play more lator to see if I'll get more weapons :eyes:

burnedkirby 2024-04-25 02:49

@chuckiee The difference between hammer and sword is that the hammer has more "variance". Sword does maybe two possible amounts of damage, but hammer has at least 4 possible amounts of damage. On average, the damage should be the same, but the hammer has more "risk vs reward". Unfortunately there are only two weapons in this COMPO game. Thanks for playing.

This is a really cool concept, summoning items like this. Could see a lot of potential if you decide to keep going with the idea.

Appreciated the ability to fast forward the text. It's a nice touch I don't often see in other jam games and was well implemented.

The parry timing was a little rough for me to understand, but could be that I just needed to take more time to figure out the timing.

coderaurus 2024-04-27 15:36

I see you got little over ambitious :D I love the music, they feel like they're telling a story. The game reminds me of old school JRPGs and I like that.

The lack of feedback or indicators for parrying made me stop, unfortunately.

The game has possibilities and room for growth and it would be nice to see what you can come up with.

Good job!
