Very fun, and surprisingly hard! I love the art and animations too, crazy how you did that in such a short amount of time.

Very fun, and surprisingly hard! I love the art and animations too, crazy how you did that in such a short amount of time.
The wolf is kinda hungry for the life, and it doesn't even help collecting the hearts and I'm seeing game over. But game looks nice, a little short in duration, but it's nice that hearts disappear when you collect them, and life counters are calculating the remaining life. It's nice (but slightly standard) version of the theme, so theme is well implemented. The graphics/sprites are very nice, and they respond nicely to the user actions.
@tero-pulkkinen I'm sorry if the game was difficult! I never know what's the right amount of challenge, I don't want it to be too easy either... ^^' I just make sure it is challenging enough for me, but I guess it's a lot easier for me since I'm so used to playing it now. Thank you for the feedback!
Nice art!
I love that you got dialogue at the beginning, and you included the option to skip it. The animation and pixel art looks and feels very nice. Some kind of music or sounds would of course be good, but I guess you didn't have time for that. And I totally relate to uploading a game and feeling like there's a bunch of tweaks that you want to make. Also, I didn't have any trouble picking up the hearts, that feels fine. Excellent work!
Pixelarts are superb! Controls are ok, but wasnt able to kill any enemy, dont know why.
Love the animation of these sprites!
The beginning feels very grindy with the slow movement. I understand it makes the shop more worth it but it feels like I have to suffer a lot just to get to the good part. However the art and animation is amazing. A couple of tweaks and you got something really gold here.
I love the art and animations, good job!
Nice game! I like the upgrade system. The art and animations are spot-on!
Art and animations were just at an incredible level for a compo entry, because everything was in place and the structure is rock solid.
I had fun even with some balancing problems and audio lack.
Overall: over the average compo entry
Great graphics and presentation. Quite hard, but still a nice game.
Lovely pixel art and good story. Got eaten by wolfes and these giant black ant-things very often, though. Good compo entry!
I really had fun. I managed to aggro half the map. Didnt turn out too well XD Good job!
Amazign art and animations! The gameplay is a bit simple, and its ashame there isnt a clear goal (or at least I couldnt find one).
Nice game, I really like the walking animation and the art style. All the different creatures are cool (I like the golem one) and the scrolling effect of your story is nice (thank you for letting me skip after dying!)
I really enjoyed the graphic style, it's well done. I think the biggest problem is that enemies often get stuck in rocks or plants. Good for killing it anyway.
Nice job.
The art was super well done and the game felt really polished overall. The only 'cheat' I could find was when the enemies were chasing me they would stop at the barrier and I could just stand inside and kill them. But apart from that I felt it was a super game!
Love it! The graphics are great. +1
@antztakeover Yeah, that's not a cheat, the barrier is supposed to keep the enemies out. It's helpful if you're being chased by a bunch of enemies you couldn't take on otherwise. I see how it could be a bit OP though... ^^
Great graphics! I just wish there was a way to skip the text animation without skipping the intro
Astonishing art style! It's sad that there aren't any music or sound effect, it would fit well with these combat mechanics.
@vladirien Good idea, I could implement that if I make another patch for the game ^^
Pretty cool! Unfortunately no sound, but the combat feels alright and I like the simplicity of the concept. Graphics are really nice.
Like the mood, felt like a Halloween game. Wish there were sound effects and music. The mechanics are good, but I couldnt do the knock back or the life steal attacks only the dash. Also holy cow stone giant has a lot of health
Nice pixel art! I find the balance a bit lacking, because all the other skills pale in comparison with the dash, which is an AoE and evasion all in itself. It's especially hard to land a hit with the normal attack. Dashing alone is very fun however, so I'll take that! It would also be great if this game had some audio in it.
Good Game :)
Finally, that's the type of game that I was looking for! For me the balance was perfect: not too hard, so the occasional little bug wouldn't completely ruin the game, and not too easy either. The gameplay loop is very satisfying and the risk-reward implementation of the theme adds just the right amount of spice. The pixel art is minimal but effective and the lore before the start of the game definitely adds to the atmosphere. The main attraction here though is definitely the mechanics. As a nitpick I would point that I personally would've loved if the prices for the upgrades wouldn't be so steep so we could see just how overpowered the player can get (similarly to the current build of Risk of Rain 2). All in all, I really enjoyed my time with the game. Good job and good luck!
@aitalvasilev Yeah, one of my friends who loves breaking games managed to increase attack range to thousands (I had accidentally multiplied the range by 1.1 per upgrade instead of adding 0.1) so he could stand in the corner and hit every enemy on the map  I think the best way to become overpowered is to invest into life steal a lot. But yeah I agree with you that the upgrade prices might be a bit steep. Stuff like that takes a lot of playtesting and modifying, but it's certainly something I could change in a future patch :)
@toasteater Normal attacks are a bit hard before you buy range upgrades. Range + knockback with the regular attack is very good! I personally use a mix of both attacks so I don't know which one is best to upgrade
@gus-the-shark Life steal doesn't steal life each time you hit an enemy, it just increases the amount of lives the enemy drops when it dies. If it stole hearts for each hit it would be unbalanced because it'd be more efficient to deal as little damage as possible. For the range and knockback, you just have to upgrade 3 or 4 times before it's noticable, the increase is small but very useful!
Nice idea and art. Sound would have been really great
Interesting littel game, it´s not exacly my type so I didn´t played to mutch, but even so:
I realy liked look of it. Also the littel story and implementing of theme. Apart from sometimes goint partly through rocks and bit iceish feel with walking, game play was ok.
What I was missing thou was sounds eather some background music(perhaps free from some site) or just sounds like barking of wolfs when they go on you, slashing of weapon when atacking or just sound of walking or nature around. If you add sounds to your next game I think it will do a grade better.
Felt like samuraï jack for a minute. Don't think the left click attack is necessary to the gameplay, the dash is just so much more fun. I ran in some issue where i tried shashing enemies close to me just to miss them completly.
A short, but fully functional and well introduced entry!
Nice art. Music and sound would add more weight to the actions and the gameplay. Great job though
Nice game. Too much unskippable text in the beginning. I think it would be a lot better with sound. But other than that good job!
art is nice, though the pixel density of things is not consistent. The slash was a bit unclear of where it would hit for me, especially when I increased the range and some enemies like wolves got close and kind of stuck until I was able to kill them. The game feels like it lags a bit after I hit an enemy, but I'm not sure. It would have been nice to see how I could progress in the game other than upgrades, not sure if there was a game ending or not (do I have to get all the upgrades, collect a certain amount?). I didn't really need to use the dash. Anyway, keep up the good work!
@skoggy The very first sentence that was typed out was "ESC to skip"
Bonus points for that really cool goat man char portrait!
Loved the goat man character and all the art! The game is quite fun too, as much as I dislike killing wolves and forest creatures, heheheh. The mechanic is straightforward and fun! With some fine-tuning of the movement and attacks this would be perfect! I also would have liked to see more powerful upgrades just to pick up the page of the game a bit more. All in all a great entry for the compo! Well done! Thanks for making the game!
Great entry. Very polished for 48 hours well done
Cool story. Running around outside the shield barrier collecting hearts and avoiding enemies is lots of fun, and feels rewarding. The art is great, and I love how the hearts have that spinning animation. Nice range of available upgrades you've implemented too (my favorite being the personal shield).
Time to kill that sneaky rock dude hiding behind the trees :p

Cute game! I wish there was a bit more to it but for a compo game this is very nice!
I did find that you could hide behind the shield and farm enemies easily if you upgrade your attack range so that was a bit cheap ;P Also the AI is a bit dumb and enemies seem to get stuck in places, you can also attack through walls which is a bit strange. I also did not like the fact that the sprites don't all have the same pixel resolution but maybe its my OCD.
Overall good job!
@mateusboga Yeah you're right, I drew everything in a 16x16 resolution but then realized some things were too small when I put them into the game and had to scale them up, thus the differing resolutions. In the future I will try to make sure the size is more accurate to begin with to avoid that problem!
I really like this game! It's intuitive, concise, and fits perfectly with the theme! The graphics are wonderful, and the concept is just really clever! Of course, it can improve. It's an LD game. However, you've done amazingly! Definitely one of the best games of this LD!
Cool interpretation of the theme, and the main mechanic of upgrading your character with a setback in health is well done. The graphic pixel art is nice although a little inconsistent with the different pixel sizes, and the combat could use a bit more juice e.g. screenshakes, knockback, flashing, effects of being hits. That wall of text at the start also was quite a hurdle to get past - might need some way to fastforward.
For a compo game it's fair enough to cut down some features, and it's well polysehd except fo the lack of audio. The graphics and animations are neat and pleasant.
For the lack of audio i will just list some of the missing features, firstly is the ambience sfx, you have about 3 to 4 different biomes within your forest and there's an apportunity for 3 differend soundscapes, like howlingwinds, tree leaves shaking, howling worlves, birds singing, crows, waving/running water and also another for the marketplace to distinguish from indoor to outdoor soundscapes.
Sfx feedback to add presence and weight to the characters, like footsteps, shrugling cloth and leather, shaking bag of equipments, protagonit's breath and few grunts before releasing the attacks, dash skill, and pain grunts (as well for the enemies).
@randomphantom The first sentence that got typed out was "ESC to skip". Apparently people are missing that part??
