wan | Den | la-mecanique-du-plastique kilosaurus | ♥ 10 | Loved the atmosphere! Everything from the environments to the audio to the bizarre creature and its unusual controls/actions worked well together to build a strange look & feel, not unlike Rain World. The effort on particles, sound FX, and then again the polished environments show of great sense of detail for a jam entry. Moving around through tunnels is pretty pleasing to the eye, and while the physics can be a bit glitchy it doesn't take away the fun. The bad news is I didn't make it too far I think, getting stuck at the second base of those puny humans (the one with the metal door). I looked around trying to find missed tunnels or something to break, but without success! Any hint would be welcome, I'd love to see what more this game has to offer :)

I really enjoyed exploring the tiny planet - having to interface remotely through the terminal really enhances the sense of the unknown. It kind of gives me a Duskers vibe, but with less stress. The pixel art planet shots were really cool - it took me a little bit of time to realize I could explore an area multiple times to learn more. Doing that really starts dropping other hints for a deeper story. I think there are multiple endings, although I only got one of them. I may play again later to see if I'm right. Simple gameplay, excellent atmosphere/mood, and terrific audio track. Great job! |

Sebastian Lague | Shrinking Planet | brackeys | ♥ 9 | The aesthetics of this game are fantastic -- in particular I love the grass shader and the particle effects! I was a bit confused at first about the presence of the road, thinking I was supposed to try stick to it. The game is fun and challenging (I think the world shrinking is a brilliant way to increase the difficult), my only complaint there is that if I just head off in a random direction at the start of the game, I can usually coast along for about 20 seconds without having to dodge anything. It might be a good idea to target a meteor at the player's predicted position (if they were to continue in a straight line) every few seconds, just to keep them on their toes at the beginning! Good music, great atmosphere, I enjoyed it a lot.
Moski | Retro Rabbit | wtoa thomsonteguh jlus tomgt | ♥ 9 | An incredible execution. While simple, the game wasn't only satisfying, but applying the theme of a small world to the mechanics of the game was a blend of the most exquisit harmony that I've seen in LD games so far. First of all, the presentation is a blast. The game has a retro feeling, with some simple yet effective graphics for most of the part. They look so good when put together. The choice for music and sound works as well. But it all boilds down to the gameplay, which, I insist, was very clever. The game seems to be constantly adding things to plug and rocks to dodge. The difficuly doesn't come from adding *more*, but from making the world smaller and smaller. It's a small design choice that I still consider among the most creative things I've seen so far in this jam. It's so subtle, yet so effective. I want y'all to give a very solid high five in my behalf to whoever suggested that one. I like leaving feedback to jam games, but I can't think about what else this could have had. It got the high scores, and the power ups, and a hooking gameplay. If you'd like to reconstruct this project in the future, I could only think of adding cosmetics and the like, and sticking to the core if you do end up deciding to add more power ups, levels or hazards. As it is, the game would make for a very addicting mobile game. All in all, this game exceeds expectations. I just hope that more people see the cleverness of the shrinking world mechanic. I know I keep bringing it up, but it's just *that* good. I still insist that the small but clever decisions in game designs are the ones that make up the best games. And this is one fo the best. Keep up the good work! 🐳

The voice acting was an unexpected surprise! The beginning is a little slow because of how little mana you have at the beginning, it might be worth it to have an extra early objective to incite the player to have a second temple and more villages, to gently influence them towards building up mana early on. There is definitely a problem with lava though, it spreads so quickly that if you don't know how to act right away, it can just ruin your game entirely. It might be a good idea to have an in-game message warn you about how to deal with lava when a volcano first erupts, telling you to use rubble to block its way immediately. Might also be a good idea not to let lava spread diagonally, that feels very unexpected! Played it here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/139473859 (starting at 2:33:24) |

Artylo | Abaddon | geckoo1337 | ♥ 8 | I'm terribly sorry, this game is good, it looks great, it sounds fine and it handles well, but this is Devil Daggers. From the hand, to the skulls, to the small map, through to to the slight dithering on the graphics. I can't give you a good rating for that. You apparently have the skills and the knowledge, just put them to good use in something else, not something that is already made and published.
Knightess | ATLANTIS | occultone firesong-bard karatai | ♥ 8 | I like the concept of the game but it took me a while to understand how to play. - The info for what the buildings are and the special habilities of the children are displayed in the lower right of the screen and in a gray background. Positioning it over the buildings/children when hovering on them or on the bottom center of the screen with bigger white text would have made a huge difference. - The teleporting special hability was a little bit confusing, I wasn't able to teleport other units. The highlighted hexes didn't stand out much. Adding an arrow in the final teleport location would have made it clearer. - When making the provinces flood it would have been better to take out the control of the camera from the player. - The mana should have been displayed as a UI element - The movement limitations were a little unclear. A "actions/movements remaining" count or something similar would have made things clearer - I also had some issues with the context menu. I had to click Move many times for it to work properly. - The function of the action menu isn't clear at the beginning. A tooltip that points the current child's special hability when hovering over it would have made it much clearer. (And it would also fix the first issue that I pointed out) As I mentioned before, I love the concept, I also liked the graphics and the audio and I enjoyed the game when I figured out how it worked, however, it could be way better if the points would have been clearer. Great Job! And thanks for the feedback on my game! It was very useful!
TheShrug | Pod2000 | nidup grena gildasq baptisteq toxinu mylenela pierallard | ♥ 8 | Hey guys! You were right about using a headset! I can really tell your team really put a lot of effort into the project and it really paid off. The feedback from the sound on the key presses made me wish I could keep typing forever. The style of the artwork had an awesome retro feel to it and the atmosphere of the music fit it perfectly. The only thing I wish there was more of was visuals, It took me a while to notice that small screen! Nicely done!
matita | Down the Rabbit Hole | those-30-ninjas kurt-roembke | ♥ 8 | Wow, this is one of the few LD games I played that can be seen as a complete game! Super cute graphics, great music and a very strong game design. Please tell me you had it already designed or at least deep thought before LD started, because the movement system it's working so well. It took me some time to get used to it, but when you get it it seems perfect. The bunnies also have a good AI. I didn't get to the end, and it's also not very clear if there is an end. Maybe you did it on purpose to force the players to play as long as they can! But I bookmarked it and I'll definitely try to finish it. Great work!
KnightOwl | Platform Styx | moneagames joshua-glavich doodlebut grim gengarskhan | ♥ 8 | So... The character died in a train wreck??? Either that or the character is so delirious from hunger he is having strange dreams about picking up coins to feed a vending machines after falling asleep on a subway 😝 Overall it is playable and the music/sound fit the eerie atmosphere. I'm not entirely sure how to categorize this in my mind. Judging it as a mood piece, it could use a bit more story. Judging it as a puzzler, it could have been more challenging. If it is trying to be both, having the puzzles rooted in the story would be cool. I think the lighting set the mood well and made good use of the Unity platform.
drazil100 | Ascension: A God's Test | mathype cassio-eduardo dakikad gustavo-jendiroba arlamjr ana-clara-guimaraes | ♥ 8 | Not gonna lie strategy games are about as far from being my cup of tea as you can get. I am a fairly lazy gamer so the whole genre is bad for me. That being said I can tell you put a lot of thought and a lot of effort into making this game and it was actually quite a bit better than my stream made it look like! Good job!
pixlark | Ascension: A God's Test | mathype cassio-eduardo dakikad gustavo-jendiroba arlamjr ana-clara-guimaraes | ♥ 8 | Very impressive that you managed to make this in such a short time. Reminds me a lot of games like Dungeon Keeper and Evil Genius, which are some of my favourite strategy games. The only problem is that the early game can be a bit boring, but that's to be expected - with only three days there's not much chance to balance out the gameplay. Also, I love the cute little god portraits :)
JoyFired | Ascension: A God's Test | mathype cassio-eduardo dakikad gustavo-jendiroba arlamjr ana-clara-guimaraes | ♥ 8 | A strategy game that is kind of hard to get into, but is a pretty decent game nonetheless, and it is evident that a lot of effort was put into it. The beginning was sluggish (as mentioned already), but it got better after a while. Also mentioned above, lava is annoying. The sound was pretty nice, music was a bit unexpected, to be honest, but still did a good job of adding to the mood of the game. The voiceovers and interaction with the other gods were also great at that aspect. One problem I did notice may have something to do with me having a 4k screen and the scaling not being set correctly: some of the text appeared way too small, such as the objectives, taking up a tiny fraction of the box they were given. Overall a solid game, though pretty hard to get engaged into without any sort of tutorial in the beginning.
TechnoNugget | Skylets | dink-dunk infestient nardandas woefulme twistedironpaw justus954 jas mox | ♥ 8 | I have no idea what in the hell I was doing, but I sure had fun doing it. The collisions were a bit off, the character would get stuck on the edges a lot, and due to the nature of this game, there were a lot of edges. The music was great. really pumped you up and was intense. I played through it 3 times, high score: 93 I didn't find the secret planet /: would be nice if it saved your highest score and showed you your total and high score throughout the whole time your playing so you can try and actively reach it. as well as high scores for each individual planet. Over all I really liked it and spent much more time than I thought I would [:
Venny | Den | la-mecanique-du-plastique kilosaurus | ♥ 8 | Really good atmosphere! The music definitely stands out, very fitting. Though the objective of the game doesn't seem too clear to me, I got into a room with a bunch of people and a metal door, but I didn't seem to be able to do much more. Also one of the body pieces got detatched for a few seconds at some point, might wanna look into that
