| May 2 17:25:22 | DNAPet | ♥ 1 | An interesting idea, I was positively surprised by how different the creatures looked. Some things were a bit unclear at first, but with some UI improvements the game could be pretty fun. Good work! | |
| May 2 17:36:28 | 11m 06s | Terra | ♥ 1 | Excellent game for such a short timeframe! Especially the graphics were great, and I also greatly enjoyed the setting and story. Although the difficulty seems quite unforgiving and it took me a while to understand that spacebar can be used to teleport sideways, the game works pretty nicely. While the gameplay and level design aren't stellar, there were a lot of little nice touches. The physics also conveyed the feeling of Terra nicely. I still don't understand what the small bar collectables were, but hey, it was a blast to collect them anyway. :) Overall, great job! |
| May 2 17:50:37 | 14m 09s | Food Fight | ♥ 2 | Excellent little game! On my second try I got more than 100k points, topping off the leaderboard; http://i.imgur.com/gfQ4ho6.jpg The concept is great, and the enemies' movement mechanics complement the game's feel nicely. The assets are excellent, and I enjoyed the overall mood a lot. Some downsides include how easy it is to abuse the enemies' pathfinding, but the game did eventually become challenging enough. Another problem was that it might be a bit too easy to be crushed by the falling groceries. The music was interesting enough and fit the game very well; the repetitiveness didn't prove to be a problem due to the short playtime. The shooting was solid, gameplay feels good and the game's dynamic nature provided lots of interesting tactical scenarios to work out. Overall a great jam submission, no less than 4 stars for each category from me! |
| May 2 18:00:58 | 10m 21s | Ruin a picnic! | ♥ 0 | Interesting game, I really liked the idea. The audio fits well and the background looks nice. However, it is a bit too difficult to evade the slap even if one has predicted it, due to how the down key snaps onto the food so easily. Then again, I have no doubts that the life of a fly ruining picnics is supposed to be difficult. |
| May 2 18:18:42 | 17m 44s | The Nedludd Club | ♥ 1 | Looks very interesting, but unfortunately even with the instructions I was unable to figure out what to do. For some reason I can't talk to anyone? |
| May 2 18:44:45 | 26m 03s | AstroGunner | ♥ 1 | The audio and wonky camera make for a great feel. I first thought that limiting the fire rate would make the game better, but mashing my space bar like it owed me something was a great experience! Overall, a fun game. The 3D surface movement was nice. |
| May 2 19:01:55 | 17m 10s | Alienus-Alienas | ♥ 0 | The gameplay isn't very varied and there isn't a lot of tactical or strategic thinking going on - at least from what I could gather by a few quick plays. However, the audio and visuals are pretty nice, and the idea has potential! Shouldn't you turn off the audio ratings if the music is not made by you? Despite its flaws it is a nice game, good work! |
| May 2 19:38:21 | 36m 26s | Blackhole Escape INC | ♥ 3 | This was a bit of a mixed bag, but I spent by far the most time with it out of the games I've rated during this LD. The gameplay was fine. It took a bit of figuring out, but it did keep me sucked in for a while and was pretty fun. The game definitely had a survival mood around it. Finding 14 Dark Shards is perhaps a bit of an overkill, especially with how much scrap the miners require. Unfortunately, I was close to getting 14 shards but accidentally placed a miner inside of myself. This rendered my character immobile and my only chance was for an enemy to come from a direction that would conveniently destroy the miner before myself. Being able to remove existing structures should be on top of the future development priorities. Other bugs I found involved using an emitter's "place" mode to provide perpetual light whereever I went, as well as being able to place multiple miners on top of each other. That was fun. The game over screen was great, but I found no way to return to the main menu afterwards. There could be use for more enemy types as well as improved graphics and audio... However, I understand that these weren't your focus. On the other hand, I have to raise my hat for using your own engine, especially one with what I assume to be Java! The game systems themselves worked fine, and I liked that objects can have a lot of different types of information they can display when clicked. Overall, a solid experience; despite the flaws, this was one of the most engaging compo games I played so far. Reminds me a bit of games such as Notrium. Good work! |
| May 2 20:35:30 | 57m 09s | A Small Earth | ♥ 1 | This was great! Not that fun to "play", but fun enough to get to the end. The visuals were nice, and I liked the pacing. Interesting project, I'd love to see more like this! |
| May 2 20:39:08 | 3m 38s | Id's Journey | ♥ 1 | Windows 10 user here. I tried the 32-bit version without compatibility and in Win 7 compatibility mode, but it just makes a weird loud noise and Windows says that it crashed. Looks cool, hope to give it a try later! |
| May 2 22:01:56 | 1h 22m | Cosmic Cleaner | ♥ 3 | Surprisingly difficult! Well polished and somewhat fun game, great work! Very few complaints to be had; the gameplay, graphics and audio come together nicely. _(Shameless promotion)_ If you'd like, please have a look at my game as well! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/invasion |
| May 2 22:18:27 | 16m 31s | Murder Mitosis | ♥ 2 | The grey dots weren't very visible at first, but after figuring the game out it became clear that this is a great gem amongst many of the submissions. The design is superb in both gameplay and UI, and overall the feeling is fantastic. The game plays nicely, the music, sound effects and visuals are all awesome, and most importantly it's a lot of fun! Good job on making all of this in time - even multiplayer and a controller support! The AI is very well made too, although I was able to win without shift and later without using spacebar. |
| May 3 01:49:09 | 3h 30m | What Remains. | ♥ 2 | Great game! I was very positively surprised by how challenging yet well-balanced the game was. Overall the game plays really nicely and all my complaints have to do with relatively minor things (hotkeys, easy scrolling through the people, tooltips, better symbol for food, unclear when beds are used, unclear objectives). Looks like I missed the "how to play" entirely, though! That might have been helpful... Regardless, this easily topped off my list of "LD games I played the longest", as I tried to gather enough people to break the UI! Not sure if that is possible though, I started running out of energy/health after ~20 occupants. The graphics look nice and for core JS+JQuery this is very well made considering the timeframe. Excellent work! By the way, do you have a public git repo or something? |
| May 3 11:51:03 | 10h 01m | Planetary Remains | ♥ 1 | Wow, great polish for a game made in such a short timeframe! This was fun to play, and the physics worked together quite nicely to create a fresh gameplay. The menus, music and visuals all were great! |
| May 4 11:22:31 | 23h 31m | Legend of Helda: Breath of the Mild | ♥ 2 | For some reason, I can't use the camera at all; it keeps scrolling up and the character keeps turning around. I can move as normal, but the bug nevertheless renders the game unplayable. I recorded a video to explain what I mean. I tried opening the game multiple times, both in windowed and full screen modes. I am using Windows 10 Professional Edition (Finnish locale). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9121JLrqv-o |
| May 4 23:11:46 | 11h 49m | RASHLANDER | ♥ 2 | I never imagined there would be a game that would get a 5 from me in more than three categories, but you've really managed to nail this down. The gameplay is solid and I love all the little details! Extremely impressive and surprisingly fun for a compo game. I personally enjoy challenges, and this game certainly didn't disappoint on that front either! ;) Hope you will have a try at my game too! It lacks some polish, but for my first game jam I think it came out pretty well; the link is https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/invasion **EDIT:** **I'm currently trying to beat RASHLANDER without refueling**. Here is my first attempt - do note the awesome strat test at AREA 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_R3TIdmfqf8 At this rate I'll both get the Steam key and prove that this is possible before the end of the day. **UPDATE:** Things are going pretty smoothly; I took a break and headed back amidst the asteroids. Here's how that went: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_ca55w_ne4 . . **UPDATE THE SECOND:** After just 36 attempts, **I beat the game in 3:40 with only a single refuel.** You are welcome to try better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3clFRB8ZRY . Unless someone can improve, I think that marks the end of my journey with this game. It sure was a blast! |
| May 15 15:35:14 | 256h 23m | The Four Tribes | ♥ 1 | This was pretty good, quite different from what I expected. For some reason, it started eating my computer's processor alive. The challenge was just right, and I liked how the units interacted despite how simple they were on surface. |
| May 16 19:48:21 | 28h 13m | Pity About Earth... | ♥ 2 | A great game! My only gripe is that the mouse doesn't work when the pointer is outside the game area... I was surprised by how nicely the SFX worked with the awesome music. |
| May 19 17:42:48 | 69h 54m | Flight of Claude | ♥ 0 | Were you able to take and edit all these gorgeous photos within just 72 hours, and make that into a game? Good stuff. |
| May 19 18:40:44 | 57m 56s | Miniscule Frenzy | ♥ 1 | A surprisingly good game despite the low amount of ratings. Sometimes the controls felt a bit weird - wall jump for example could be more lenient - but I liked the level design and audiovisual feeling a lot. Overall great work for such a short timeframe! |
| Jan 21 20:39:49 | 5929h 59m | Fast & Faeries | ♥ 1 | Fantastic entry! After 30 minutes of intense training, I was able to do this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqYrAfo1TC8 What a fun game! Really stands out from lots of similar jam entries imo. |
