I really like the atmosphere the audio the nebula in the background are creating together. The perspective is also pretty interesting.

Now the gameplay is where you lost me a bit. I think the way the ship handles is very confusing. It's alright when you're on the 'upper half' of the planet, but when you're upside-down it's so confusing that I ran into enemies multiple times because I felt like I had no control.

Also sometimes enemies spawned inside me. That was weird, but I guess you just didn't have time to change that.

I like it overall though. Good work.

Woah! I found myself surrounded... Very nice concept, I like the idea of the camera being fixed, it gives you the correct impression that it's a small world indeed. I had fun, altought I'd try and increase control leeway a bit, maybe the mouse could move a few degrees the aim?

samurai-spark 2017-05-01 11:09

Nicely done @kabalatrance,

the used fx and soundtrack brings a creepy mood to this. And great job with the camera, it makes it a much more stylish experience! But I died 4 times in a row because enemies spawned around me  The gameplay itself feels good. But I'd love to see more weapons.

Cool entry!

This is pretty good! The audio design is definitely quite good. I think the game would benefit from slightly larger projectiles, to account for the times when the player is slightly rotated to one side when aiming at an enemy due to the controls. Or even a little bit of lock-on when you're missing by a few units.

I very much like the background, and I think that the powerup system is quite good. I would recommend some kind of shaded background to the UI on the screen, but that's not super important.

If you expanded and continued to work on this, I think you could make something quite nice!

urban-logic-games 2017-05-01 11:43

Nice mood, I liked the overall ambience. I would have liked to be able to strafe I think, but the tank-like controls certainly added to the challenge.

tanay 2017-05-01 12:30

cool mechanics! you should work on the graphics... also, I think holding space should make the player shoot continuously. Maybe you could give him ammo?

The graphics and audio are pretty good (I like the creepy eye enemies), the theme is used well, and the gameplay has potential to be fun. However, the camera movement is way too disorienting for me to fully enjoy it. I would've liked the game a lot more had the camera been fixed to the ship.

lookslikesomething 2017-05-01 12:59

That's a challenging game! though I have to admit that the camera rotation gave me a headache. I would suggest to make the rotation smoother.

bearishmushroom 2017-05-01 15:12

I scored 158. A pretty fun game, although it has some issues.

While I like the idea of the camera system, it doesn't work all too well. It would often end up swinging pretty wildly making it very difficult to see what was going on, which in my opinion emphasised the lack of feedback when getting hurt; I would often lose health without realising.

However, the upgrade system is nice, and plays pretty well with the scaling of the enemies. It gives a nice sense of progression while the game still remains difficult.

Nice take on the endless runner genre!

scornz 2017-05-02 11:14

I love it! 2.5D worked really well for this one, but the ship controls were a little confusing for me. I think @Zelos said it best, otherwise awesome work!

chronosv2 2017-05-02 14:35

That was a pretty cool game. The perspective flipping threw me off at one point, and it's a little hard to keep track of enemies, especially from behind. Some sort of invincibility on hit would have been great too. Despite those minor issues, the game was a lot of fun!

The graphics did the trick. I liked the design of the ship, and the enemies were pretty neat. The sound effects were good, but the background music felt particularly calm for what was happening onscreen, unless it was meant to feel a little creepy.

Keep up the great work!

Very cool! I love how the shots curve around the planet. Like the others I hade some problems with the camera. It works really well in some places, a bit like in super mario 64, but in others it rapidly shifts upside down and makes it hard to control.

mmkalll 2017-05-02 18:44

The audio and wonky camera make for a great feel. I first thought that limiting the fire rate would make the game better, but mashing my space bar like it owed me something was a great experience!

Overall, a fun game. The 3D surface movement was nice.

2017-05-02 21:21

I like the artwork a lot! The camera idea was awesome as well. Although, one critisism is that this feels like a how fast can you click game rather than a avoid and shoot the enemies game. I think you should a hold in space/mouse button thing to shoot the weapon. Great concept though! (Oh the bullets were cool too)

tat2tim 2017-05-02 21:26

Holy Hannah this is cool! I don't know if there's much more variation in the enemy times, but I really liked the controls, defending my lil' planet from those eyeball jerkwads. Really cool!

knightowl 2017-05-03 05:23

It's a nice little shooter, but the unpredictable kills it at times, along with my ship... Rotating camera is interesting, but it needs to be a bit more smooth and predictable. Good overall.

liquidbrain 2017-05-03 09:56

Wow! I really enjoyed playing this game, your game is very addicting and I had a hard time to stop playing.

Concerning the gameplay, It was kind of repetitive but you saved that by spawning those power ups, they kept you motivated to keep on playing. You have done a good job with a lot of things, my favorite thing about this game is the sound effects. They sound incredible pleasing and I can’t get enough of them.

Everything works well together and the game has a nice aesthetic feeling, I enjoyed learning to control the camera even though It was a challenge sometimes.

Overall this game is pretty hard, but as I said before; very addicting. I’ll probably keep on playing this game a lot. Maybe a scoreboard would be a nice addition?

Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

The camera seemed odd not rotating around the player but instead sort of rotating the world around, but I loved how the bullets curved and the sound effects matched up nicely. It reminded me of Geometry Wars some and I really liked that so I liked the direction you were headed in!

dgspitzer 2017-05-04 19:13

Very intensive game! It's fun to play~ The camera is moving in a weird way though. Two of the most reasons I died either because of camera or the enemies re-spawned around me.. :joy:

I really enjoy the mood! For my taste, the game could be more frantic.

Pretty well done!

Cheers!

ryte2byte 2017-05-09 07:33

Wow, that's a mean little shooter ya got there! Of course, its not half as mean as the camera system  It is really neat to watch all the projectiles curve around the planet, especially once you get the spread-shot.

franklins-ghost 2017-05-09 13:14

Liked the look of the planet and the way your shots curved around it, was a nice touch. Did have issues at times when I went upside down trying to control the ship and think that could be tweaked a bit but interesting game overall.

occultone 2017-05-13 01:27

I Played this in Stream Today at Request of the Stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekGMbpHGKUE

I think the camera was my big gripe, the spinning on the Z-Axis made me a bit nauseous and it's generally a good idea to lock rotation on that axis. Otherwise a solid game, and I loved how the shots curved around the planet. (I'm curious how you did that!)

harry-alissavakis 2017-05-19 17:31

Really interesting shooting game! With some more polish and other content it could be an amazingly good game! You already have the base for a nice, fast-paced and fun game! As others mentioned, the camera didn't really work for me, it made it a bit hard to aim and to move. Other than that, I think you have a great entry on your hands, and I'd love to see what you do with it! Great job! :D

Neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRPh1GNGnP0
