Good game, really liked the graphics. It was a bit hard to understand at first, but after some time I got the hang of it.
Great visuals and audio! The gameplay is quite limited but it's pretty fun to see the turrets aim and launch automatically. It feels like you're a real enginer.
I'd love to have more content and thing to do though, but that's already great for a 72h work! Congrats! :)
The music is good, the visuals are ok. I really liked the concept of being an engineer and repair things on the midst of battle, but the controls were a bit clogged, especially to go from the floor to the platforms. Sometimes I lost lot of time trying to jump to the platforms, and that kind of frustrated the experience - as it changed my focus from the objective (to see where I am needed and the strategic best path to fix the most number of engines on the least time) to one a bit less interesting (how do I jump onto that platform?).
With a bit of polish that game would be real fun. :)
Really liked the graphics and animations, it had a frantic feel to it. Would have been great to have some sound effects when repairing jumping etc. I couldn't quite figure out what caused the game to end, was it the rockets getting damaged or the player getting hit by bullets/missiles? Nice job!
I knew to expect something good from @brainy-beard! This was great fun, took a bit of getting used to but overall a really fun and enjoyable game. Art and animations fit really well, and the audio is great, well done! :smiley:
There's an interesting idea here, but in its current state I don't think the game quite captures it. The turrets seem to get damaged way too quickly, to that point that a turret's health is almost fully depleted the second after you stop fixing it. It would probably work better if they took damage slowly at the start, then the damage increased over time. I also found it unnecessarily difficult to jump up to the higher platforms (especially under pressure). The graphics look really good, though.
Gameplay was really nice. I especially loved the graphics, looks well polished for a game jam. Like others I also found it difficult to jump to higher platforms. Overall pretty good though so cheers mate!!!
Graphics are good and gameplay idea is nice too. But after death, there's no statistics displayed (play time, score, etc.)
Nice idea, where you repair turrets instead of shooting at things. Turrets do die really quickly, so it's quite hard. I liked the graphics. As you didn't make your audio yourself, I'd suggest opting out of that category. The audio did fit nicely, though.
Minor points: - The statistic fields at the end are white without any numbers in it. - You move a bit slowly, especially jumping. - I couldn't find out whether jumping into bullets from enemies actually did something (for example, reduce health). - Your player sprite is quite cute, with the two people working together. :)
The graphics are quite nice but the game play is lacking a little bit. A way to improve it could be more snappy movement (Faster movement and jump). The health on the turrets are a little low and there are a lot of enemies. Balance the game can really help in player experience. Hope this helps, Good Luck !
As mentioned in the comments above the movement is a bit slow. More importantly, the turrets more often than not don't hit anything. As a result, there are more and more ufos in the air, shooting millions of bullets at once, which means that every turret you repair immediately gets damaged again. On the other hand, the music is exciting and I love the idea to make the player sprite two characters moving at once!
The gameplay isn't very varied and there isn't a lot of tactical or strategic thinking going on - at least from what I could gather by a few quick plays. However, the audio and visuals are pretty nice, and the idea has potential!
Shouldn't you turn off the audio ratings if the music is not made by you?
Despite its flaws it is a nice game, good work!
@mmkalll thanks for pointing that out. Have disabled it now.
I did enjoy the game, but it kinda makes you frustrated that there are way too many bullets and alien ships! And somehow I felt myself to move way to slow in order to reach and repair. I know its a score attack, but it kinda felt way too hopeless from the get go... maybe if the pacing of the enemies were slower you could fell more in control of the repair.
However the concept is pretty neat, and clearly there is an interesting game here, with the idea of being an engineer, frantically fixing thing the best way you can, that makes the game feel interesting, being a proxy repairer instead of the actual executor of things. Nice entry, and a potential good game, i liked my time with it, but it needs more polish to get to its true desirable state.
Fun and challenging - has potential. Definitely would suggest some more sound effects for alerts when things get damaged since there is a flurry of bullets and enemies. But great job!

I really wanted to enjoy this but the floaty controls and level layout held me back. If the player had a faster jump and the platforms were slightly closer together, i would have probably played it much longer. As it stands you have to move the character absolutely perfectly to stand any chance at survival. The music was decent though and its pace suited the game well. Also the graphics have a cute style to them which i like :)
Thanks for all of your feedback everyone. You'll be glad to hear that we're working on a version with non-floaty characters, more turret health and less enemy bullets.
I like the rocket trails! Not sure if I have anything else to add that hasn't been said by the previous commenters. Looking forward to the updated version.
Game looks amazing. It's a little hard to understand. Could be me with my "not so great" English :D
Tip: If you reduce the enemy's rate, or if you modify the way enemies fire to do less damage, the game could become easier (it's actually very difficult). With the an easier game, you could make a better difficulty curve.
• Good graphics;
• Pretty innovative game, I liked the context;
• Game needs a balance and some kind of tutorial, you can get confused at the first few tries;
• Good soundtrack, fits the gameplay;
• Overall an OK game, need some polish and balance (asap).
I had some fun playing it, the graphics are very nice and Kevin's music is a perfect fit. Here are a couple of points I personally would improve on: - Control. Currently, they are very floaty (and this would work for a level where you play on the moon, for example) but not making a jump and having to wait for my avatar(s?) to slowly float down to the ground for the next attempt was a bit grating. So just higher gravity, snappier controls would do wonders. Look at the gold-standard for great handling, Super Meat Boy, for inspiration :) - Level design. Once I had figured how to reach the higher platforms, I just circled through until eventually getting hit by an enemy bullet. Maybe have all the elements a little smaller but more platform levels where I have a couple of options where to go. - Sound effects. Some arcadey beeps and buzzes would work well together with the chiptuney music. - Power ups: The longer you survive, the harder it gets. So well, so good. But having some rare pickups like a smart bomb or insta-health for all launchers would make the rounds play longer and give the player a breather now and then. - Waves & variety: I would have liked if there was a certain number of UFOs per wave/level; say 10 in level 1, 20 in level 2 etc. Depending on how well I played, I can buy and place, say, one-time shield upgrades for individual launchers between waves, or selectively upgrade existing ones (more health, higher shooting frequency, rockets with splash damage, etc.) - Feedback: I'd love to see how well I am doing, so a timer or score counter would have helped me gauge my performance. Currently, I use the music as my reference for how well I'm doing.
So in summary: Liked it, there's a lot of potential of making this a modern arcade classic by adding some variety, and snappier controls.
Great work with this! The game has a really nice vibe. I think you're really on to something here--make the movement speed and missile-firing speed way higher and see how that feels. :)
I Played this on Livestream Today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_6NTcovuI0
Scoring system should be fixed so I can know how well or poorly I do. The spawn rate is a little fast, and the controls could stand to be simplified. The WAD+Left Click is intuitive. If you're only using the mouse for one button, then just remap another key on the keyboard for it. I highly recommend spacebar or E for this would do better than Mouse Button 0. The gravity is VERY floaty and it made it hard to move around with any sense of urgency.
Not a bad game, very difficult. Definitely could have used some more variety and control tweaks. But overall pretty good! I had fun.
This game is surprisingly difficult, there are a lot of bullets on the screen and not much chance to block them. I do like the simple art style. Also I would have preferred using a key to repair a missile launcher instead of left-click.
Good game! I like the idea and it's fun. But it's too bad for the movements of the characters are heavy and buggy. Add sounds effects, it's important for the mood and user experience ^^
Very difficult game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA-2r5Ryiv8
Love the visuals in this one, and a cool concept. I did a little video with my thoughts. https://youtu.be/2E_VB598v2c
