May 10 20:57:35 A Game with Bees ♥ 1 The web version fails to run on Linux running Chromium. The music plays (and I like the music!) but it perpetually says "Running..." with no game displayed.
May 10 21:05:33 7m 58s The Small Black ♥ 2 I love the music! The sounds were good too, but they were too loud I think -- I wanted to hear that music! I liked the gameplay a little less; it seemed a little too based on randomness. Perhaps there could be a second mechanic to make it more interesting? I might also make it so that a system always falls to one bar before breaking completely -- otherwise it's hard to tell what happened when I go from 3-bars to game over. But of course I'm painfully aware of the limitations of 72 hours :) Anyway, congrats on making this in JS! It didn't feel "website-y" like most JS games do.
May 14 22:03:15 96h 57m No One's Planet ♥ 2 This is pretty neat. I'm a bit of a young'n, so I've never used telnet before. Was there supposed to be a difficulty in capturing the monsters? I managed to just grab them by walking into them, but I got the sense I was supposed to be fighting for my life. Oh, and I loved the text snippets throughout. I cracked up at "There's probably a skeleton in your house right now. No, you can't go home and check." Nicely written :)
May 14 23:46:34 1h 43m Earth Invaders ♥ 0 The graphics are nice and simple, but not too simple. I like the shading on the asteroids; it makes them not distractingly detailed but still pleasant to look at. I like the music a lot, it really puts me in a "save the planet with lasers" mood. Could have been a smoother loop though. I'm putting this last because no one else seems to be having this problem and so it's probably just my dinosaur of a computer, but the controls were VERY slow. Response times of > .5 seconds rendered the game not really playable. But, I left it open while I wrote this so I could keep listening to the music :)
May 14 23:58:24 11m 50s The Four Tribes ♥ 1 Cool game! It took me a little while to figure out what the loading bar was doing and why it reset every time I clicked a recruit button, but once I did it was intuitive to use. My main criticism is that there doesn't seem to be any strategy involved. Battles occur at random and have seemingly random outcomes. The best I can do is select random soldiers to recruit and hope for the best, which got me through four or five battles (I lost in the second battle after the purple guys joined me). One tip for next time is this: include some sound. It doesn't have to be much; a little click when you recruit someone or a quiet melody in the background will do. Just something I've found that really breathes some life into a game :)
May 15 00:17:35 19m 11s Parvus Mundi ♥ 1 Very fun! It took me a couple deaths to realize that I was the rectangle, not the planet, but once I did -- wow! The graphics aren't great (but not terrible either) and the lack of sound is kind of dry, but this is probably the most fun of the Ludum Dare games I've played so far. Also, I am on Linux, so I can happily report that your Linux version is working fine, at least for me :)
May 16 00:58:48 24h 41m Transistor Soup ♥ 1 Not bad at all! This is a throwback to when I read a book about this -- something like "The Elements of Computing Systems". Was that your inspiration? One bothersome thing was that the window was too big for my screen, so I couldn't access the parts manual. Also, it's possible to put wire behind a gate, thereby creating a very hard-to-find bug. It might have benefited from a couple more intermediate levels, but then again...most of us are programmers here, so maybe it's not necessary ;) Nice game!
May 16 19:06:14 18h 07m HexCity ♥ 1 Great idea! The pick/put sound provides nice feedback. One thing I found frustrating was the restrictions on where I can physically put things: I want to be able to put down a factory even if its requirements aren't met, so I can see how the board stands and what needs to happen next. I'd also like to be able to remove things (not just undo my moves). That said, very clever concept and if you ever feel like polishing it up I'd say go for it.
May 16 19:48:05 41m 51s The world is (a) flat ♥ 2 Not bad. The layout was pretty hard to understand, but I managed to bumble my way through the entire game. I happened to see your new UI in the comments above; it looks a lot better. I really liked the music in each "room", but I wish it hadn't kept cutting out whenever I changed rooms. I also liked the humor here: "ROAR! (Dear fellow. You may want to avoid taking those from me. I am quite large and you seem to enjoy having all limbs.)" I cracked up at that :) Very creative use of the theme!
May 16 20:00:54 12m 49s Anger Birb: World ♥ 1 Hahahaha. I love how all the sounds are vocals! It's also somehow satisfying to fling the "Anger Birb" -- also a very funny name -- halfway around the world. That said, I can't seem to figure out where I'm supposed to land. I've landed right on the other green patch and been told I was off, and sometimes I land next to it and get told I was WAY off. My best is 97 km away. Is it possible to hit the target? Nice job!
