Nice game guys! Simple but fun ^^
@thesand Thanks, we appreciate the feedback
Simple but addictive game, my best score 610 :)
It's like mixing space invaders and asteroids. I like it!
Good game, simple but efective. Pixel art is good and theme concept as well. Also I want to tell you some things to improve next time: First, I think it's necessary some kind of restore life. Secont, the ship takes a lot of time turning arround the earth. Third, Not all asteroids have the same distance to earth when they spawn. Good job and well done.
See my jam game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/limited-space
@Vidinu Thanks for your feedback! We did want to implement a shop kind of thing, but we didn't have time to do that. Also, we indeed noticed the problem of the disadvantage of meteorites coming from under and above. We added the warning sign as a way to hotfix the problem, because we couldn't think of an easy way of solving it.
Nice game. Agree that there should be a way to to restore life or have power ups like speed or rapid fire. Good start, and fun to play.
Fun game! My high score is 672. Its looks good and it sounds good. The only things I didn't like were that the car was a bit too slow and there were a few instances where my shot grazed the edge of an asteroid and it didn't register a hit.
Very nice game! I managed to live to something like 650 points when the "big one" finally got the best of the doomed planet . I like how you turned the invaders concept into "world scroller" game. One thing that should maybe be changed is to have a square viewport instead of rectangular since the asteroids coming from top or bottom can really be a pain to kill due to short time from appearing to hitting the planet. On the other hand, this does add some randomness to the game which may not be bad at all. Keep up good work and feel free to try [our entry](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/godspeed-mankind).
@jasperarmstrong You're right, the collision in the game was hard to do since the size of the meteorites change and since they're in a quite odd shape. Anyhow, great to hear your feedback
As someone who once put a Java entry into Ludum Dare, my advice is use something else next time (maybe JavaScript so it runs in the browser?). People are very hard on you in the scoring when they have to download a Jar and install the JRE. Doesn't worry me though, I'm a Java developer.
Anyway, nice game, keep up the good work
nice little game, but not very challenging yet - control around the world was great - nice game
@madmaw JRE is a fairly common runtime on computers, right? Or did I accidentally use Java 8 on export?
The graphics are nice and simple, but not too simple. I like the shading on the asteroids; it makes them not distractingly detailed but still pleasant to look at.
I like the music a lot, it really puts me in a "save the planet with lasers" mood. Could have been a smoother loop though.
I'm putting this last because no one else seems to be having this problem and so it's probably just my dinosaur of a computer, but the controls were VERY slow. Response times of > .5 seconds rendered the game not really playable. But, I left it open while I wrote this so I could keep listening to the music :)
Call it a hunch, but planetary shooters seem to be a [common type of game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/little-blast-planet) in this jam. ;)
Kidding aside, I like the graphics and I approve of the warning to tell players where the asteroids are coming from.
@acotis Hi, thanks for your feedback! I haven't heard this one yet and it might indeed be because of your less powerful computer, however I'm not 100% sure, because the controls are checked in the game loop and that's time scheduled, which shouldn't really delay it.
Nice game :) We had the same idea for our game but ended up with a "zoomed in" version in the end.
+1 for using Java but I think you could have limited the game loop to 60 fps and save some CPU cycles.. sometimes the fire-button didn't fire anything.
Over all a nice one :)
Solid entry! I appreciate the little warning signs before the meteorites spawn, a small detail but it's the kind of polish that really makes a difference.
Nice Game! the gameplay was quite addictive , good take on the theme as well . Really well constructed! very good work
Java needs more games like yours to dispel it's bad name on multimedia. I really enjoyed it! That being said, I had some weird issues with input on OSX; sometimes, it would not answer to key presses. Other than that, a fun arcade challenge!
@monty Thanks for your feedback! I have read some different issues with the controls indeed, but sadly I don't have a Mac to debug it. Still thanks for mentioning, might be preventing it next jam
Wow, dude, awesome art!
Got 543 on first try. Key inputs were often not responsive at all. It made it very hard to play.
Short and to-the-point. I like it!
Cool game!
I got a 681 score and it was fun. Nice game. I really like the soundtrack. Just one point: If the movement would be faster, it would better fit to the soundtrack.
Really nice little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo0eF_2kFRY
