| May 1 14:40:39 | Connected World | ♥ 0 | I found this title interesting, and played through it a couple times. My biggest issue with the game is the best way, is to play is to leave it idle for a bit of time; for me personally, that was not fun. If perhaps there were another mechanic that you could do while waiting for animals to respawn; alternatively maybe if they respawned in a different way. (Maybe jaguars pop up in high densities of rabbits, rabbits propagated faster when there was many.) I would say I spent a solid 60+% waiting for respawns because I'd run low on food and had to wait for enough rabbits to spawn around me, to keep up the balance. It would have also been nice if you had different ways to get to the castle; but if you allowed bridges to be building together on 2 wide spaces you could get to the castle much earlier. Minor issue, and doesn't really affect your first play-through. Overall I did enjoy the title, it made me come back a couple times to get the best ending I could. I found the artwork to be cohesive and I liked the aesthetic; I feel the music also fit quite well with the game. | |
| May 1 15:04:46 | 24m 07s | LD38: Planetary Command | ♥ 2 | This game is definitely quite a challenging experience even on normal. I am however, not so sure that is a good thing. I found the difficulty to be arbitrary and due to the speed of the incoming asteroids. Sometimes it felt like you didn't even move around the planet fast enough to get around to the other side in time to stop a collision. It seems as though the speed is fine when they come from left or right, but if they come top or bottom they just come in too fast. The mechanic of having to dodge of the alien shots while still trying to destroy the asteroids was interesting, but I had to completely ignore it. If I stopped to dodge a shot I would let an asteroid hit the planet so one way or another it was over. For me personally it is a very loose interpretation of the theme, which isn't a big deal as I would rather a fun game than a game that stuck completely to the theme anyways. Aside from the issues I did play the game a few times (highscores, normal: 19, hard: 13.) I feel like I would have played a bit longer had the game felt a bit more fair to me. The sprites and sounds are simple but they do the job and the game is very playable. |
| May 1 15:23:41 | 18m 55s | Monolith | ♥ 5 | Overall this is a really fun and solid title, and I really enjoyed it a lot. While It definitely doesn't seem to fit the theme at all, you guys went on to create a very fun and compelling game anyways. I quite enjoyed the art style of the game, as well as the music. My biggest gripe with the game is there is no health bar as far as I can tell. It makes it hard to make the right judgment calls ingame. My only other gripe is that I find the lock on quite slow. I am sure that is intentional but I feel like I'm only looking on when I get lucky or force myself to take a couple hits (especially on the harder enemies.) |
| May 1 15:37:20 | 13m 39s | Goo Game | ♥ 1 | I really enjoyed the concept of this game. While I unfortunately got stuck early on because I am bad at puzzle games, I had a lot of fun trying to figure things out and progress. I enjoy the minimalist art-style and the music was quite nice as well. My only issue in the time I played with the game was I wish there was something that explained the modifiers you can place down. It isn't hard to experiment but when first encountering a new modifier it would have been nice for a little blurb that said what it did. |
| May 1 15:49:53 | 12m 33s | Planet Desumaton | ♥ 5 | Hey, really loved the art style in the game, the expressions of the planets / asteroids is great, and I found the use of your 'mood' as a representation of your health a great way to handle that while keeping the UI to a minimum. I wasn't able to beat the first (only?) planet after several attempts, but I was quite entertained the whole time. I did notice a minor bug in that the opponent health bar doesn't reset on a new attempt until the first hit. Very minor, but when I first saw that I expected I may have a chance against him; but it promptly reset to full after the first hit. Good job. Edit: Just went back and beat the planet. As I leave the page I noticed in your gif that you could throw the asteroids, and that made the fight a lot more engaging; and easier. |
| May 1 16:27:55 | 38m 02s | Tetripolis | ♥ 2 | Wow! This was quite the unique concept, and I really enjoyed this idea. Congratulations on accomplishing all this is 48 hours. I didn't have any issues with the game as I playing it. The only thing I would have liked is if the score stayed visible on the tiles as you tested out different layout; however I could see why that may have been a design decision not too. I was able to get 2 coins on levels 1-5, however I didn't dive into the hard levels; definitely saving this to come back and play more later on. Good job! |
| May 1 16:45:53 | 17m 58s | Defend the Earth | ♥ 1 | Really fun shooter, it took a bit of time to get the feel for the controls, but after I did, I really enjoyed the way it handled. Immediately I was grabbed by your font, it feels very hand drawn in paint and I surprisingly enjoyed that quite a lot. I love the mechanic of knocking the enemy shots away with your own, and basically overpowering them with your barrage of rounds; I found the game quite frantic as I raced around trying to draw the enemy fire away from the planet. My only real criticism is the gunfire, it does feel a little repetitive after awhile, especially when you spam the left mouse button like I was. Overall, Good job! |
| May 1 17:57:21 | 1h 11m | Whale Fall | ♥ 1 | Early on I found it quite hard to get higher, but it seemed like once your reached a certain point, a ton of the whales would flood down. Although the game is quite simple, I was driven with the desire to see where the whales were coming from. I was not expecting the little twist at the end, and it definitely summed up the experience. |
| May 1 18:21:17 | 23m 56s | An Ant World | ♥ 2 | As it turns out, I am quite bad at this kind of game. Took me a few tries before I was able to survive the onslaught of the first ant. Interesting kind of game, I enjoyed the sounds as well as the art style. The first time the screen shook it took me off guard, and after it was over I thought to myself 'neat'. I would have liked a small mission early on to ease me into the core experience; as it seems quite difficult until you get used to the mechanics, but overall it is well done, |
| May 1 18:48:05 | 26m 48s | Annulus | ♥ 3 | Hey, awesome game, had a lot of fun exploring it. I really enjoyed the art style of the game, as well as the music. Like @mutfak-studios I ran into the populate every turn and not being allowed to do anything else. It did happen on the first time that event popped up so it must just get stuck in that loop. I would like to explore the world a bit more and read the rest of the 'monuments', so I will keep my eyes out for a post-compo bugfix. Also, the camera zoom does get slightly annoying on repeated movements, but not really a deal breaker; and I do like the emphasis it provides when viewing new structures. |
| May 1 18:55:54 | 7m 49s | Tiny Hadron Collider | ♥ 2 | This would definitely be a good game for a mobile device. I unfortunately don't have a working android device to test your build out on there however. The game takes a bit of getting used to, and its important to learn how to properly place the wells to affect your speed. Once you get used to it however, it does feel very rewarding. I also enjoyed the art style, simplistic yet sharp. |
| May 1 19:15:49 | 19m 55s | The Wonky Wizard | ♥ 1 | Fun experience you have here, it felt like you guys put in quite a bit of content over the 72 hours and I really appreciate that. Like the previous comment mentions, I think lightning might be a little powerful as it easily destroys every enemy type. I didn't finish the game, I stopped after the tenth wave as it felt like an inflation on the play time, and after kiting and getting the enemies stuck behind rocks 10 times over, I didn't really want to push further. I like the voxel art style you have going on, and the take on the theme is fine, moving around and watching the planet rotate was cool, but the camera movement was jarring sometimes as it seems to have forced rotations at different points on the islands. I would have liked to have finished the game but the wave island dragged on far too long for my personal taste. Edit: Forgot to mention, would have been nice to have had an indicator to tell how much your fireball has charge up, or a sound effect to give a general idea the force it was going to come out at. |
| May 1 19:23:58 | 8m 09s | Tiny Colonies | ♥ 1 | What a wonderful little game. I really like the way you have presented the game, the art style while very low bit pixel art, conveys all the information you need to manage your planet. I would have liked to have been able to destroy / remove buildings or trees that I created in order to re-arrange and re-optimize the things I need on the go; however it's not a deal breaker. |
| May 1 19:46:56 | 22m 58s | Where is mommy? | ♥ 3 | I loved the atmosphere of the game, it took a little bit of time but I was able to navigate around the house, solve the puzzle and leave the house. I did almost give up after hitting the buttons as I couldn't find where to go, but I found the door I missed after a couple passes. My only real gripe was the child getting scared and running to a candle, this is neat the first few times but it started happening at seemingly random; I assume it has to do with the ambient light around because she would gasp quite often if I turned and my flashlight was near or passed into the wall. Overall I enjoyed the horror theme, the art was alright and most of it meshed well. I really liked the look of the main character. Good job guys. |
| May 1 19:56:29 | 9m 33s | Mallows World Adventure | ♥ 2 | I enjoyed the humor of the game, and it was a really pleasant experience, from the music to the concept. I found the world a little disorienting and it took a bit of time to get used to the warping that the doors seem to do. I got stuck after digging out the dirt; I see in the comments here that the crowbar is support to open the guinea pig cage but it did nothing for me, I am sure I missed something. Overall a cute little game. |
| May 1 22:20:02 | 2h 23m | DUCKTRON | ♥ 3 | Ran through the game a few times trying to get a good high score, seems like the optimal way to play is hunt down that flashing duck and get him while ignoring the others. Anytime I tried to confront the others they would lay waste to me. I liked your music track for it quite a lot. The only real issue I had with the game was the abrupt ending when you died, many times I'd skip over and start a new game because I was in the middle of mashing x. The performance seems fine on the web version, at least for me. |
| May 1 22:32:41 | 12m 39s | Polar Conflict | ♥ 1 | Scrolling shooters like these are some of my favorite games, I got some Super Stardust vibes from this game; which really made me wish there was a bit more enemy variety going on(and maybe a different model for enemies as opposed to yourself to help differentiate.) Even though the controls felt a bit floaty, after a little bit it handles well enough. I found the enemies a bit unrelenting and dangerous; you definitely wanted to avoid head on confrontations. I also quite enjoyed the music, and feel it fit very well with the title; a solid pick. |
| May 1 22:41:45 | 9m 04s | World Battles | ♥ 1 | I like this idea a lot, I hope that you choose to flush it out more in the future. I played for a little bit and after the first wave felt like I could kill anything that came my way. I only died because me and 2 other planets got stuck together, then the rest swarmed and destroyed me. I would have liked to see some variety in the weapons, and maybe a few weaker planets in the early waves to ease you into it; but I had fun regardless. |
| May 1 22:50:51 | 9m 06s | HexaHover | ♥ 1 | Really enjoyed the controls for this, I felt it handled really well with a controller. Not so great with a keyboard though. Going to set this aside to play with a full group of friends for sure, I can see people having a blast with a full roster. It's a big undertaking to develop a multiplayer game for a jam but I think you guys succeeded and have a fun concept here for sure. Good work guys. |
| May 1 23:01:20 | 10m 29s | Chill Bill | ♥ 0 | This is probably the most amusing game I've played for the jam, the humor definitely hits home with me. I love the audio cues and the animated sequence when you buy a (missing) sprite. Only had a couple issues with the game, the biggest that I feel your stress climbs a tad rapidly. The second being fart bombs being dropped in your immediate area, which I think leads to part of my first issue; if you get caught in that fart bomb unintentionally you may as well kiss your sanity goodbye. Definitely had a good time with this, even though my high score was pretty pitiful. |
| May 1 23:17:30 | 16m 10s | Little Mouse Planet | ♥ 2 | I've only seen a little bit of Scratch and from the little that I've seen you've accomplished something pretty impressive. I enjoyed the game and the art is very cutsy, as well as the sound assets. My biggest gripe was the visual feedback I got, I wish I could tell / reinforce that I am doing the right actions when watering plants. My logical reasoning is that the more I water the faster they grow(do they grow when not being watered?) Great job, I cannot imagine the degree of difficulty it was undertaking this. |
| May 1 23:29:24 | 11m 54s | Small World | ♥ 1 | This is definitely the most unique experience I've had in the jam so far. It's a gorgeous looking game, but the controls on keyboard are atrocious. I quickly switched over to a controller where it was far easier to handle. I had issues with the camera, and it quickly became hard to gauge where a block was in relation to you and whether or not you could make the jump. I feel like the game could be a little less punishing in that aspect. As another commented I think the game lacks perspective which would help determine your position in relation to the other blocks. I hope you choose to pursue and expand this title cause it would make for a fun little game. |
| May 5 01:25:57 | 73h 56m | Cardboard Cats Online | ♥ 1 | What an undertaking for a game jam, I commend you for attempting something crazy like this for the jam. I played up until level 5 almost 6, and got my full cardboard outfit. I thought for the time you had you did a great job, I did find hitting the enemies sometimes to be hit and miss, and there was definitely some lag issues. I enjoyed the art, as well as the inclusion of music. I found myself wishing there was a little bit more content, maybe a couple more rooms with a bit harder enemies, but I can only imagine getting this out being down to the wire. Great job. |
| May 5 01:47:01 | 21m 04s | Food Fight | ♥ 1 | Interesting idea for a traditional twin stick shooter. I played a couple times and wanted to keep going to get higher in the leaderboards; but after a couple plays decided I had an understanding of how I felt about the game. I liked it, I had fun with it, however I found myself getting frustrated with the colliders in the game. I think it would have been nicer if when you bumped an edge that you slid along it as opposed to getting 'caught' by it. There were a few times where the colliders on a couple objects weren't exact and I would get stuck trying to pass between them. It also would have been nice if the falling food squashed the enemies as well, since if they land on an enemy you can actually shoot the object off the table. Good job, I also enjoyed the diversity of the artwork but I see you opted out so. |
| May 5 01:55:26 | 8m 25s | Super Small-io World! | ♥ 1 | Fun little title you have here, I did find myself getting a tad frustrated with the coin respawn time. Unless you get a perfect scenario it is quite difficult to gather up all the coins, I tried a couple times and I think the closest I got was about 2-3 coins away. I really enjoy the Mario galaxy style galaxy, and was quite sad to find the game was only 4 bodies, I think this could have been a lot more fun with some more places to go. Thanks for the game. |
| May 5 02:07:18 | 11m 52s | Mind's Eye | ♥ 1 | When I started reading the comments, I was thinking that this sounded like a really cool tactical game with programmable movement; something that is quite common in modern board games but I don't think is really done in any modern computer games. As it turns it it was a really cool and really fun mechanic. You executed it quite well; and while I was bad at it, I still had a great time. Thanks for making this. |
| May 5 02:15:49 | 8m 31s | Beware The Idiots | ♥ 1 | Great job finishing your game in time for the end of the compo, that in-itself is a great accomplishment. I enjoyed your game, was a funny concept and I think for your first LD as well as it sounds like your new to programming in general; that you did a good job. Like @maggardjosh I also had issues with some sperm going past the walls, but besides that everything else worked fine. I agree with basically everything in your bugs section of the entry page. |
| May 5 02:22:41 | 6m 52s | littleBLASTplanet | ♥ 1 | Simple but effective, I turned out to be really bad at the game (thanks for gamepad support by the way, that made life easier.) But overall liked the concept and the art style grew on me as I kept on playing. I think the music added to the easier and I am glad you took the time to generate some with Abundant and add it; I feel as though the experience would be bland without it. Thanks. |
| May 5 02:28:35 | 5m 54s | Vespuccia | ♥ 1 | I nearly did not make it to the end of the level, collected the last rum barrel with 6 hp left. Was an interesting experience that played well from start to end. Enjoyed the multiple weapon options that were present and liked the idea of collecting them off of fallen enemies. I would have like to have seen more levels but all in all, well done. |
| May 5 02:39:26 | 10m 51s | Little Scout | ♥ 1 | I was so sad when the game ended after jumping up on the spring. This was a really neat mechanic and I would have loved to have seen more of it. I really enjoyed the music and thought the art was relatively cohesive. Thanks for the game; if you ever expand the game I would love to play more. |
| May 5 02:46:26 | 7m 00s | UFO in a box of bricks | ♥ 1 | Really enjoyed the music a lot for the game. The little people were somewhat frustrating as I never fulled figured out how to kill them. When you say squash them I first assumed with the ship but that didn't go well, but I was never able to get blocks to fall on top of them. The game is a solid experience, and my only complaint was that it would have been nice to have a fire delay; at least when using the big shots. It was really easy to spam out the huge shots and fill the screen with them, causing all kinds of funky collisions as they bumped into and overlapped each other. |
| May 5 02:55:38 | 9m 12s | Tub of War | ♥ 1 | Had a lot of fun with the game Quill, it handles well and plays well. I was a little sad that I didn't end up watching you make it this LD as I was busy working on my own title; but its nice to see yet another great polished title. Thanks for the game. |
| May 17 01:28:37 | 286h 32m | Run the World! | ♥ 2 | Enjoyed my time with the game, I thought the game ended when I finished Lisbon, and didn't notice until looping a couple times that it goes on (forever?.) I found myself wishing that you could speed up by just holding the up arrow. The sound was quite loud, and scared me a little bit when I first crashed, resulting in me having to turn my volume down quite low to make the sound not so intrusive. |
| May 17 01:34:35 | 5m 58s | Step-Squish | ♥ 1 | Simple, straight-forward, cutsy, and frustrating. I didn't end up playing too long because of the hitboxes in the game, I saw it mentioned in another comment but you can die by just touching a foot even on it's way up, or even if nicks a corner of your hitbox. I found myself in a lot of positions where it seemed near impossible to escape the foot (I realize I was also quite bad at the the game.) Good effort, and @ me if you polish up the game a bit and I'll play it again for fun. |
| May 17 01:41:45 | 7m 10s | A Small World (how original) | ♥ 0 | Simple game but quite fun, I didn't really have an big gripes with the game, it played well and I had fun. The few things I can think of are that it would have been nice if the game didn't let you heal your monuments more than max. I found the game a bit too easy with your mana regenerating too fast; resulting in what could have been a strategic game, lacking strategy. This could be a really cool concept if fleshed out into a more complete game. |
