I love it! Very difficult.
God this game is hard! Except for that, the sense of challenge is great. An auto-fire would be great to avoid spamming of the Ctrl button. Good job!
This game is definitely quite a challenging experience even on normal. I am however, not so sure that is a good thing. I found the difficulty to be arbitrary and due to the speed of the incoming asteroids. Sometimes it felt like you didn't even move around the planet fast enough to get around to the other side in time to stop a collision. It seems as though the speed is fine when they come from left or right, but if they come top or bottom they just come in too fast.
The mechanic of having to dodge of the alien shots while still trying to destroy the asteroids was interesting, but I had to completely ignore it. If I stopped to dodge a shot I would let an asteroid hit the planet so one way or another it was over.
For me personally it is a very loose interpretation of the theme, which isn't a big deal as I would rather a fun game than a game that stuck completely to the theme anyways.
Aside from the issues I did play the game a few times (highscores, normal: 19, hard: 13.) I feel like I would have played a bit longer had the game felt a bit more fair to me. The sprites and sounds are simple but they do the job and the game is very playable.
The game ought to have another key bound to fire. Using modifier keys without providing a way to remap them is an iffy proposition in general, since they are not in the same place on every keyboard and they're likely to cause conflicts with keyboard shortcuts on various platforms. For example, on a macbook, using ctrl with A+D is awkward, and using ctrl with left+right is impossible because ctrl+left and ctrl+right are used to switch between desktops. It's also not intuitive - not many people would think to use ctrl, most people will probably try the spacebar at first.
Overall, the gameplay is pretty fun, but the sound effects really grate on my ears.
I liked the music and the premise (controls setup is a bit odd though movement felt good) but the gameplay was kinda shallow. It would have been good to see some variation, power-ups and different enemies etc.
It's pretty hard, even on easy! What about gamepad support? Could be easier with an analog stick. Of course you would have to consider the max. speed of the turrent.
Nicely done.
Liked the idea, the game ended up being harder than i thought! One suggestion i would have is to make the fire button something other than ctrl. Im on a mac and have ctrl-left and ctrl-right bound to switching desktops, so it would switch desktops everytime i wanted to shoot and fire.
Wauw, very difficult, even the easy setting. But I like it. Simple, easy to understand. Good controls. I like the atmosphere of the game. Though the sounds are good, I think they need more balancing. Some of the sounds are really loud. But overall really cool little game. But difficult!
Nice game you have made. The missiles could be a little bigger and an auto-fire button would be nice.
Fast paced Shoop-em-up game with a simple background, that distract you from the gameplay.
It's a good game, thanks for the experience.
