May 1 05:07:25 This World Of Mine ♥ 2 Yay I finished the game! Now I rules the world :p I love the graphics, very nice and cute. The room is interestingly designed where there are levels and not just flat ground. The hide outs are a bit tricky to get in, at first i thought i needed to click the light spots on the ground, turns out i actually need to click the hide out spot (the side of the bed etc.) I think the indication should be made clearer. Also the hideout at the end of the bed wasn't working for me (I was playing the WebGL version). Overall, nice game! I had fun with it! (otherwise I wouldn't finish it)
May 1 05:21:54 14m 29s Retro Rabbit ♥ 4 The title screen animation is awesome! It was a pleasant surprise to see that such a polished title screen. The music and the art mashes great together, made the game very rhythmic and made the movement feel great. The mechanics is simple to grasp, after dying once because I didn't know what I was doing, I managed to survived 1:20 and got a score of 72597. The carrot mechanics is very clearly, giving a change the pacing of the game and made the player feels empowered. I think it is a very complete and fun game, I was tempted to say you can add more types of collectibles and power ups to increase the variety of the game but I don't know if complicating the game more is a good thing. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game and it is definitely one of the best I've seen so far. Well done guys! You should be proud of yourselves.
May 1 05:38:45 16m 51s Chip's Planet Defense ♥ 3 The game looks great given that it is your first 3D game and second LD. The models are simple but cute. I'm surprise you actually animated the UFO firing lasers, that was great detail. The fire and oil effect is also very good for helping me to find out where to go. However, the game is a bit buggy at its current state (I played the V2 version), for example, sometimes i cannot put out the fire even though i was close enough and aimed properly. I cannot put out fire on two trees at the same time either and if one of the trees is still burning, the other tree will start burning again pretty soon :( I also couldn't find out how to use the fuel, I got it and tried to put it into the empty tank next to my house and i couldn't for some reason. With that said, the game looks and sound great for an LD and I like the music gets more intense as time goes on as well. The game just need some bug fixing and polish. Great work! I'm glad you had a good time making the game :) Also a visual indicator of the direction of the house would be great i kept on getting lost :p
May 1 05:53:21 14m 36s Dungeon In a Bottle ♥ 4 Sorry I couldn't finish your game because I stuck at this level screenshotI kept getting stuck and that corner and just falls down to the spikes. I kept trying for a few minutes but still no luck. With that said, the pushing the wall back mechanics is very cool and unique and you even have to use it to solve the puzzle. The graphics is very nice and plenty of animation there to make the action looks smooth. However, i feel like the jump timing is bit off or it is a bit too hard for me (I don't usually play platformer). Overall, great visual and sound, interesting idea but I just suck at platforming 😂
May 1 06:12:46 19m 25s "It's a small world!" ♥ 2 Haha the game is very cute! I love the premise of the game and those interesting looking characters. The mechanics is very innovative but gameplay itself could be improved I think. Currently the game is pretty hard, there are too many people on the street so I have to walk on the road and avoiding cars and trying to recognise people at the same time is very difficult for me. Also I didn't know how to turn over so i was walking backward :p Overall, the game is very interesting and but I feel like the levels need to be tuned a bit. Also audio would be nice :)
May 1 06:35:10 22m 24s Paper Jam! ♥ 1 The graphics is amazing, love the idea of overlaying the game in the real world, feels a bit like an AR game. Music is simple and effective. However, I find this game extremely hard. My biggest gripe is the size of the hitboxes. I constantly died because I didn't expect the character hitbox or the spike hitbox to be so big. Even though visually it doesn't look like I hit them but I still dies. A screenshot for the hitbox problem, the character couldn't walk through there: Untitled.png Also the character slides quite a lot (doesn't stop fast enough) and i kept on sliding into spikes 😢 I also "cheated" in the game because the bullet lives forever once fired. I can fire them randomly and they can still travel through the entire level and hits the targets even thought i didn't see the targets :p Other than that, I think you've done a great job. I'm very impressed by the visual, just the gameplay a need bit of tweaking. Well done!
May 1 07:04:59 29m 49s It's A Small World ♥ 3 I was confused at first when I saw the ending but then I was *mind blown* when i realised what was happening 😮 The graphics is very nice and cute, love the changes in their facial expressions based on different dialogue. The story is simple but engaging because I kept wanting to know what is going to happen (I kept having the feeling that bad things was going to happen, e.g. beth was cheating on johnny or something). The dialogues were funny as well. I love this game, you should be proud making such a great game! Very well done!!
May 1 07:37:18 32m 19s Dr. M Little's Planet Mass Overdrive ♥ 1 The game seems very fun and I wanted to play it but it crashes everytime after I played for a little bit :( ``` Unity Player [version: Unity 5.5.1f1_88d00a7498cd] LD38.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module LD38.exe at 0023:011a8150. May 1 07:48:31 11m 13s In Good Hands ♥ 4 The 3D models are very well done, the music is relaxing and fits the mood very well. The UI tool tips are helpful but subtle, doesn't feel intrusive. The gameplay itself is fun at first but gets a little boring after a while. Initially I thought I had to control the weather to help the population grow but it doesn't seem like growing at all. Later i find that all i can do is to protect them. However, the game got quite hard because things are happening at the other end of the planet and I did not know that people were getting attack by bear and meteor appears too quickly for me to react sometimes. A notification system will greatly improve this I think. Overall it is a nice little game, well done!
May 1 09:49:32 2h 01m No Minor Task: Party of a Lifetime ♥ 1 The story was very funny but it did introduced the characters. However there are multiple of those characters for some reason :p I'm also surprised the homeless man walks so fast... The gameplay itself is quite fun but there maybe too many adults so it is hard to do any meaningful stealth, I ended up just sprint around to lower suspicions. I feel like the game will be benefit from having a more static map and fewer enemies so that stealth is actually doable. However, the graphics and the background music was nice. Well done!
May 1 10:08:13 18m 41s Near kingdoms ♥ 2 It is a pretty cool strategy game. Usually the side scrolling strategy game only let you build armies and this one is interesting in the sense that the player need to balance between developing the economy and army. The pixel graphics is pretty nice and the animation is simple but effective. There are basic sound effects that makes the game feels much better. I know it is very hard to balance strategy games especially when you only have 2 days, but i feel like the higher level units are a bit useless because they are expensive and can be only used once, if you happen to deploy it when there is not many enemies, it is not that useful and if you control the map well using swordsman you usually don't need higher level units. So the game becomes just producing between lumberjack and swordsman. I feel like the unit shouldn't be of only use once but I'm not sure if it would break the game's feel and balance if you would have made that change. Anyways, overall I think it is a great game, more unit type and more maps would be great as future extension. Well done!
May 1 10:18:48 10m 35s ATLANTIS ♥ 4 The game looks very promising and interesting, I like the visual style and the premise (I love turned base tatics). However, the UI and gameplay was kind of confusing. I didn't know what to do. A good tutorial would make this game turn this game from good to great! The sound effect was a bit loud, and the camera could have zoomed out a little bit more. Good job finishing the game though. I would love to play a more when it is more polished :)
May 1 10:34:33 15m 45s Tiny Planet ♥ 1 Love the intro and outro animation, very cute! The music is great it is very relaxing to listen to. I had issues getting out of the stair well and I downloaded the windows version and it still had the same issue. Good thing was I managed to press space many times to get out :p I love the variety of the puzzles, some of the puzzle needs a bit more visual cue (e.g. the plugging wire one, I still don't know how I solved it and what i was supposed to do because I couldn't drag the wires into the sockets.) The graphics is minimalist but doesn't look bad, the font size is a bit large though I had difficulty reading the text. The control feels good overall, would be nice to have space to trigger events instead of enter. Also would be nice if I can play through the game without mouse. I was a bit confused when I couldn't do anything and it turned out i had to use mouse to dismiss the dialogue. Overall it is quite fun (I finished it) and well done on finishing your game!
May 1 10:52:32 17m 59s Cookie-World ♥ 1 Very simple game but it is quite fun to jump around to collect cookies and get rid of cookie monsters (especially when my jump just repels him away). The graphics is quite cute but could be a bit more work. Initially the game was quite fun but it gets a bit repetitive after a while. More pickups / powerups / enemy types will make the game more interesting in the future additions. Also I think the score is a bit meaning less at the moment (It is like a timer), I think changing it to be score up only when picking up cookies will make the score more meaningful. Overall, I had fun with the game, great job on finishing ludum dare! You should be proud :)
May 1 11:08:16 15m 44s Lalao ♥ 1 This is a really cool game, even though it is more of a interactive novel than a game. The story is intriguing and you did a fantastic job narrating it. The graphics looks really awesome especially the red flowing effect around lalao when its pieces falling off. The sound effect was on the point when clicking the pieces. I really love the whole experience, it is like opening a magical story book and the story become interactive. I would like to see more narratives when the pieces falling off faster and faster. One other improvement would be have ambient background music. With that said, this already becomes one of my favorite game in this LD. Very well done!
May 1 13:36:48 2h 28m Game of Worlds ♥ 2 The idea is pretty cool where you team up to find the exit. I also like the graphics of the game. However, I find the game a bit hard for me because there are a lot of enemies and they do a lot of damage. I also find that pressing space around the enemy still triggers the 'hello man' voice line which is a bit confusing. At first I thought space only talks to my team. Also I find the audio is a bit loud. The game has potential and it just need a little bit more variety (maybe weapon type, etc)?
May 1 13:45:23 8m 35s Ronut ♥ 0 It is a pretty touch game, I played for a few minutes but still not managed to kill a single worm. The time they appear is so short that it is hard to destroy all the armors AND kill it. However, I did have fun trying because the control is very tight and responsive. It is great that my character gets the health back when I does damage to them. The graphics is nice and the music matches the action quite nicely. My only suggestion is to change the control scheme because left mouse and right mouse clicking at the same time is quite difficult for me. Otherwise it is a pretty solid entry. Well done! I only wish I'm better at it and be able to finish the game.
May 1 13:57:26 12m 03s Mallows World Adventure ♥ 2 I wish I'm smart enough to solve the puzzle. I got crowbar and shovel and snorkle. I thought I would use crowbar or shovel to break the ice but I couldn't find a way to use it. The music is quite nice though. I may do a second playthrough if someone can post some tips here :p I was also quite confused about why I kept losing health under the sea near south pole and it turned out the ice spike actually damages you and there was no indication of it happening. Anyways it looks quite promising but a bit more tips or guidance would be nice :)
May 1 14:23:44 26m 18s Chill Bill ♥ 1 Love this entry. Firstly, the game is very funny. Secondly, it has superb graphics and animation. Your custom sound effect was great / funny too. Lastly, the gameplay itself is very satisfying, I also love the little detail where the chill bonus clip gets faster and faster to avoid player wait time. The late game gets pretty hard though, I feel like I cannot catch up and just loses eventually. It feels like one swing doesn't really kill that many people. Would love to see power ups / more enemy types to be introduced. Overall, it is a very fun game, one of my favorite for this LD. Well done!!!
May 2 10:34:47 20h 11m ARR World ♥ 5 I love the art style and the music, it really give me the feeling of going back to the 15th century and being a pirate. The sailing control was pretty realistic. The combat was very satisfying when you land those shots. The crew management aspect of it is great, give me a lot of variety to play with. However, I found that buccaneers and captains are the most important ones. I found raiders is kind of useless because I never engages in close combat. The scout I can't tell the differences between 2 and 2+. The game provides 3 difficulties but I found that I can just stick with farming the Spanish until I get enough resource to take on the other two fractions so it got a bit dull. I wish I could occupied their city but turns out I couldn't do that (would be great since that gives the player a goal and it stops player from farming it indefinitely). Also the injury mechanics is interesting but it introduces a lot of busy work into the game (I need to constantly reshuffle people when I get a lot of injured people) and that wasn't very fun. I also found a bug where the cannon balls goes into the negative numbers :p Sorry for giving so much feedback. I hope you don't see them as negativities. I love this game and played it for more than half an hour and that's why I wanted it to be even better! It is definitely one of my favorites entries! Well done!
May 2 10:48:51 14m 04s Blobbery ♥ 1 The graphics is very adorable (especially the enemies). The music is very catchy but gets a bit repetitive after a little while. The platforming is good but it feels a bit off sometimes. I think the reason being in other platformers I expect whenever i press the jump key, my character jumps. In this game, however, due to the jump key long press mechanics, it feels a bit unresponsive sometimes. I get better after I get used to it though. As @indeximal said it would be great if the animation corresponds to how high i would jump because currently I have to guess. Overall it is a solid platformer, good job! :)
May 2 10:58:45 9m 54s Microbe Mash ♥ 1 Yay I beat the game. The music is very nice and the font looks cool. The puzzle mechanics is neat, it is kind of like the card game 'Set'. However, sometimes I feel like the game is a bit buggy because I can combine things with different colors (border and filled color)? You can also ramp up the difficulties a little bit, it is kind of easy right now. I also found a bug where the connection didn't disappear: Capture.PNG Overall it is nice puzzle game, I had fun finishing it :)
May 2 11:35:30 36m 45s Song of Fungus ♥ 2 Aren't you the author of the indie game Eddyç´«? It is great to meet you! :D Your game is very beautiful and the puzzle is very innovative. I love the little indicators you have put on top the mushrooms to help the player determines how the propagation works. The difficulty curve was nicely design, the 3rd level was definitely a difficulty jump but it did make me understand how the mechanics really works. I wish the music notes can make a rhythm when it get triggers in a chain. Overall very good entry, well done! It will make a solid puzzle game if there are more levels :)
May 3 00:42:43 13h 07m FUEL ♥ 1 It reminded me of the wire loop game I played when I was a kid. The game's control feels very smooth but it is definitely not an easy game. I had a lot of fun keep retrying the challenging levels. I love that there are more and more mechanics added to later levels to keep the game fresh. The difficulty curve was nicely designed as well. The graphics is minimalistic but actually suits the game feel quite a lot (improvement will still be great). Very solid entry, I like it. Well done!
May 3 00:43:42 59s Small World Simulator ♥ 2 Very interesting 'game'. Some soothing music would make it great to just watch it. The pixely graphics is cute. Maybe a bit of interaction would be great too (just allow the player to change the world a little bit)
May 3 00:44:34 52s Gantan Guardian ♥ 2 The game is very simple but fun because it is very intense but you have a lot of options to deal with the threats. I would recommend using a controller though, playing with keyboard when you are upside down is very confusing. The graphics and music is very nice and the camera shaking makes the attacks feels a lot more powerful. The second type and the forth type of missiles are very hard to aim tho, I feel like they should be better controlled. Ovearll, I really enjoy this entry. Well done!
May 3 12:02:40 11h 18m Small Worlds ♥ 2 Nice non-game at this stage. Pretty fun to just hop between different planets. The lighting effect around the character makes the planet looks quite nice. Some of the planet design is quite cool (e.g. the one with the glowing tree). I didn't realised I can do jumps in the air and got confused for a bit. As the others said, would be better to have more content. However, given the 48 hour time frame, what you did is already pretty good. Well done!
May 3 12:24:08 21m 28s Polar Conflict ♥ 1 It is cool to see an unconventional shooter. The visual is very nice and the music is very fitting. I totally agree with @hampst that the enemies should be more distinguishable. While I had fun shooting the other jets (especially when i land my shots on multiple of them), I find the control a bit odd. The main thing is whenever I change direction, I find that my jet decelerates pretty quickly and comes to a halt. It is quite devastating when this happens because usually there are quite a few missiles flying your way so I had to be very cautious when changing direction which affects the fluidity of the combat I feel like. With that said, I'm very impressed by what you have created in 48 hours. You've done a great job!
May 3 13:16:26 52m 18s A Bloody Small World ♥ 2 Yay I finished the game! I love it. The graphics is very cute and the music is nice but as the others have pointed out, it gets a bit repetitive after a while. The idea of the game is very cool, innovative and educational. Gameplay-wise, the control feels good, especially the game does auto-steering for you so you. However, when I went pass the organ and I want to double back, it becomes very hard or impossible. I mean it make sense because blood circulate in a fixed direction. However, in the game it causes annoyance because sometimes I missed the side path and I couldn't go back. With that said, I'm not 100% sure you should remove this mechanics because it does make sense and creates challenge to the player. Also due to this mechanics, the smaller blood cells sometimes get stuck and it takes me a while to find out and I have to backtrack to collect them which is a bit annoying. Would be nice if they auto-follow up when they are off screen. Overall, it was a very enjoyable game and I re-learned anatomy again. Thanks for that :p
May 3 14:00:05 43m 39s 1964 World's Fair Engineer ♥ 4 Sorry for doubting your but is this really a one man work over 48 hours (the rule of Compo)? It looks like A LOT of work has went into this. If it is, WOW, you've done an amazing job! The graphics is REALLY good, it looks super polished, vibrant and cute. It fits the theme because it is a "small world" exhibition I guess? :p The UI of the game is nicely designed because it is cleaned and informative when needed (The tooltips were very helpful). The gameplay is very original and innovative. However, I found it very hard to 'get' the game mechanics (the price you pay for being innovative I guess). I think a tutorial or a more gradually built up level (with gradual introduction of concepts) would help ease the entry difficulties a lot. Overall, a really solid game, just need a bit more work to help the player :)
May 4 13:52:55 23h 52m NO STEP ON HYOOMINS ♥ 2 Pretty nice game. The idea is original and the gameplay is actually quite fun. It is relatively short so the player is tempted to start over again and try to beat the score. I find a good score depends a lot of luck though, sometimes I just get an empty spot easily and othertimes I don't. Also i can reverse the position of left and right leg (Or stack them together), not sure if it count as cheating or not :p Really good execution on your innovative idea. Well done!
May 7 07:15:08 65h 22m Penguin Deliveries ♥ 1 The game is pretty nice. I love the adorable graphics (and the penguin). The background music is pretty fitting and it makes the game feels more intense. The gameplay is simple but fun. However, the ship is really hard to control (too float-y and too fast). It makes the game really hard. I managed to beat the first level by luck. However, I got stuck at the second level because I overshoot myself once and never manage to get back to the planet (because my rocket is way too fast). I just ended up keep on over shooting and never managed to even see the planet.... Overall, well done! It is a solid game just need some tweaking to the mechanics.
May 7 07:53:57 38m 49s Small World Smasher ♥ 1 Surprisingly fun for such a simple game! I find destroying the balls satisfying because probably because the sound effect and explosion animation. Sometimes I find that the ball's hitbox is too large though, it was frustrated that I thought i got a good angle but then it hits the ball that I didn't expect. Overall very simple yet fun game. Well done!
