Apr 28 23:03:04 Space Hummus ♥ 1 Cute little game! Graphics and sound were funny and set a happy-go-lucky mood. The physics-based mechanics were a bit odd, but once you understand how it works it poses an interesting challenge (some people have mentioned about the levels being somewhat exploitable to beat, but I tried to play fair). Nice job!
May 1 01:51:03 50h 47m Star Traveller ♥ 5 The game itself was short and simple, as you had mentioned on the intro screen, but graphics and music were adorable and beautiful. I felt tempted to leave it on the background to keep the music on πŸ™‚ A relaxed, pleasant experience overall. Nice job! PS: Any chance of a post-compo with more planets? πŸ˜‡
May 1 02:00:21 9m 18s Ark of the new world ♥ 1 Cool idea, and it fits nicely with the theme, too. Well done! As for graphics, although I did like the tiny pixel-art world, the mix of pixelart and non-pixel (texts, the curse roulettes) felt a bit off to me.
May 1 16:07:45 14h 07m This is Cutopia ♥ 1 The game is soo worth of the name 😍 I loved the art style, the bunmobile design was brilliant (does it have a name?), and the rabbit faces were adorable beyond measure (and I say this as a rabbit owner :D). As for things to improve, gameplay felt a bit challenging because of the physics. Aiming accurately could get tricky at times. Despite this, it feels solid, so it might be a matter of tuning. Of course, audio would have been nice, but with all the work needed to get things working in such a short time it is understandable. Great job! πŸ™‚
May 1 16:18:35 10m 50s Hexworld ♥ 1 I played the single player version and I really liked the idea, but at the moment I think the main challenge in this mode is to try to beat your previous scores. If you intend to continue developing the game, some kind of conditions or goals would probably be an interesting way to pace the gameplay progression as well. As for the multiplayer mode, I haven't had the opportunity to try it, but I already feel how it can be more challenging and fun against some friends. Getting it ready for a compo entry is no small feat, hats off for that! :) Overall you've got a very solid entry, congratulations! PS: Low poly hex tiles were lovely, too.
May 1 16:41:21 22m 46s Tinyverse ♥ 1 Great entry! Very solid in gameplay (although I tend to have problems with inertia in these kinds of physics-based games πŸ˜…), graphics and music, and the R&M vibe is a nice touch. At first I thought it would be a trip around planets, so finding the CPU or brain was a clever approach to the theme. Well done! PS: It plays great with a gamepad 😁
May 1 20:25:31 3h 44m Landshift ♥ 1 Nice mechanic! It has lots of potential and it can become addictive pretty easily. However, at the moment the generation of new tiles makes it quite hard to be able to make new matches. The level of polish is also quite high, especially for a compo entry. With a bit more work I could easily see it as a mobile or handheld game. Great job!
May 2 00:45:42 4h 20m PogoPogo ♥ 1 The concept was great in principle and I really liked the execution. Gameplay is simple, which I fear may work against the game's replayability but while you area actually playing you sort of get into the cheerful mood. Graphics were cute and polished, and the rock tune was catchy, very fitting.
May 2 00:52:44 7m 02s The Whole truth about Nature Selection (16+) ♥ 1 The sounds and cute sperm faces are really funny, they sort of remind me of Worms a little bit πŸ˜„ As for the game itself, I had a bit of trouble realising why I'd died sometimes. Shooting didn't feel particularly responsive either, and like Erkbert, I'm not sure about the red and blue pickups (genetic information, perhaps?). On the plus side, I keep replaying it every now and then to see if I can reach the end. Nice job!
May 2 01:03:38 10m 54s Microbe Mash ♥ 1 Loved the concept. At first I had to do a bit of trial and error until I figured out the rules (they were added below, but I didn't notice at the beginning, my bad), but soon afterwards it all clicked and the experience was pretty smooth. After beating the game I was left expecting more levels. The music theme was catchy as well, I really liked it. Good job!
May 2 01:19:56 16m 18s Whale Fall ♥ 2 The physics parts could use some work. Falling down felt floaty, which makes sense given that we're playing underwater, so I won't complain much about that for obvious reasons except for the occasional bouts of frustration when I had to resume ascending again πŸ˜…. Jumping felt harder than it should at times, specially when hitting a stack of dead whales coming down together. Whale spawning seemed to be glitchy at times. Despite this, I liked the concept and felt intrigued about what was happening. Also, exploding whales? :D Nice job!
May 2 01:35:06 15m 10s Monolith ♥ 4 Brilliant entry! I got completely hooked (even if I'm still awful at it πŸ˜…). Controls are polished, gameplay is fast-paced and challenging, and the combination of waiting to lock on or acquire several targets and moving around to avoid projectiles works amazingly well. If I had to add something, my only point of nitpicking could be that the camera angle felt a bit odd to me, but at the same time I think that it is placed where it needs to, to highlight the monolith. You guys nailed the visuals and I really liked the music as well. Amazing job!
May 2 02:12:13 37m 07s Intergalactic Gold Rush ♥ 0 Brilliant entry! I've only played the jam version so far and it already looks superpolished. Graphics are beautiful, and the game mechanic is really fun. It balances the tension of having the world crumble at your feet and the urge to keep exploring very nicely. I could very easily see this expanded further with some goals beyond surviving (which is already more than enough to keep you invested and replaying to improve your score). Wonderful job, congrats!
May 3 00:22:16 22h 10m Naziverse ♥ 2 Nice graphics, and weird setting, I liked both of them :D Gameplay was relatively straightforward, keep going forward, avoid and shoot. My only issue was that I got stuck on the first room because of a possible bug that caused you to start again on the other side. Because of that I couldn't see the text about the sphere the first two times I played. as others have said, it could use a bit more polish, but in such a limited time that is hard to achieve most of the time. Good job!
May 3 13:05:21 12h 43m Song of Fungus ♥ 2 I've loved this one! ❀️ The concept is a clever take on the theme, and all of the game's elements "click": The atmosphere, defined by the beautiful visuals (I personally love the nightly dark-purple + neon palette), and the sound effects and music, have a kind of dreamy, fairytale vibe that I like a lot. Besides, the game mechanic is well thought and solid, with some interesting puzzles, and a balanced sense of pacing in my opinion. As for things to improve...well, just to nitpick anything, some minor small quality of life improvements, such as a restart button, could be nice. One of the best entries I've rated so far. Congratulations! :D
May 3 17:43:05 4h 37m FREEDUMB! ♥ 1 Great take on the theme! Gameplay is a bit simple, all the challenged reduced to reading for a while until you've gathered enough clues and just hit the red button (in one playthrough I mixed Montreal's Notre-Dame with the cathedral in Paris, which resulted in freedom delivered to the wrong city πŸ˜‘), but I think it works well here. Art and sound were really polished, and added to the satire. I loved the missile lauch animation in particular, it felt quite smooth. Great job! πŸ˜ƒ
May 4 00:13:29 6h 30m COSMOMOMOMOΒΊ ♥ 1 I've managed to beat a couple of levels, and have a good guess on what the main mechanic is, but it could probably be a bit better communicated. Once you've figured it out the game poses an interesting challenge, and the overall experience is mostly relaxed (even if you need to pay attention to the projectiles). Graphics are cute and I think the music theme is quite fitting. Nice job!
May 6 01:18:43 49h 05m Abaddon ♥ 0 Loved the game. While I can understand other people's complaints about the obvious inspiration (which IMHO should only affect the innovation score and to some extent the overall as well) I think that dissing the whole game because of this is a bit unfair to the work you've put on it. The execution is very solid, and no surprise here, the shader effect in particular looks great. Gameplay is fun and I think the idea fits the theme. Congrats!
May 6 03:32:52 2h 14m Skylands ♥ 2 Very polished and complete entry, it already feels like a seriously solid prototype towards a proper release (that I'd definitely like to play πŸ˜ƒ) Graphics and sound are amazing, I love the art style and the colours, and music is catchy. As for gameplay, the puzzles seem well thought and the introduction of new seed types is nicely paced, but at first I had some problems understanding the core destroy/sow mechanic. Also, sometimes I found myself clicking further away from the adjacent tiles until I remembered that you can only move one tile each time. One of the best entries I've played so far. Brilliant job!
May 8 02:36:14 47h 03m Planetone ♥ 1 Such a beautiful toy! I love how you've managed to fit the game to match the theme with the small planet and weather controls. Playing around with different plants to see how they sound and to try to come up with a nice melody feels great. Brilliant entry!
May 14 22:18:05 163h 41m SnowGlobe Warrior ♥ 1 Visuals are amazing (I love the enemies' design in particular), and the zoom out when you finish the first stage and discover where you are feels great. Music is quite good as well, and with sound effects the mood would have been great. However, as others have mentioned, I'm missing some more responsive actions and some clearer feedback about your attacks and some of your enemies', so you can properly time or determine the best action. If you could improve this you could nail a very solid entry overall :)
May 15 00:30:19 2h 12m Inside Inc. ♥ 2 Amazing entry! The concept and execution are great, and this shows a lot of promise towards some new features and expanded content. I found a couple of issues with enemies getting stuck while chasing you (which can be exploited, as others have mentioned), and in one level you spawn right on top on one of the bigger ones. Hopefully those are relatively easy improvements. Once I finished the main level I started exploring again for a while, searching for an exit towards the next level and more generally itching for more, specially with regards to what the bottom panels on the left and right could mean (some new shoot modes or stat increases, perhaps, to honour the metroidvania reference on the "genre"?). Congrats for a very solid game, well done!! πŸ˜ƒ
May 16 01:00:22 24h 30m RNG ♥ 1 Clever idea! I really like the concept of using game design itself as a game mechanic. Execution was mostly solid in terms of graphics, and sounds were functional, too, even if eventually they became a bit repetitive. Gameplay-wise, the limited number of options made finding the optimal distribution of treasures / battles a great, interesting challenge, but at the same time I can see the risk of it becoming repetitive for players (I mean ourselves here :D) and, ironically, slightly dependent on the actual RNG (for example, in some cases it was relatively frequent to get the player temporarily stuck on a sleep at village -> start walk-> village -> walk again-> village again). I set as a personal goal to be able to put a boss battle, which I failed at because the game had become samey to the avatar before it could handle the boss 😭. Great job!
May 16 17:19:27 16h 19m Murder Mitosis ♥ 2 I remember the game caught my attention on the feed soon after the jam was finished, then again after you rated my own entry, and I just had to wait until the last day to finally get to try it. Shame on me! This is a really solid entry, with a simple but engaging crowd control core mechanic and polished graphics and sound. I've only played single, unfortunately, but it's easy to see how this could be more fun with friends. Great job!
May 16 17:52:53 33m 26s [BOXAVERSE] ♥ 1 Amazing entry! Lovely graphics and great sound design. Each scene looks so detailed, and puzzles were interesting to solve, I was left expecting more levels to keep playing. The setting and story are cute and very fitting to the theme, they remind me of a Simpsons' episode. My only issue was with the characters' buttons. Since they basically look like the action buttons, from the instructions I was misled into believing it was them, instead of the character sprites, that should select the characters to perform an action. Maybe a more distinct appearance (I don't know...a different position or a smaller perhaps, or maybe using a different button background...?) to make clear that those buttons aren't really a part of the level flow except for the informative tooltips. Despite this, the game itself was brilliant, one of the best I've rated so far. Β‘Enhorabuena, muy currado! :D
May 16 20:14:32 2h 21m Aquarium king election ♥ 1 Awesome concept! I like the fact that your own playstyle determines the difficulty, but I wonder if it can be exploited by having each fish wait for enough time to ensure all previous fish have returned or at least left a clear path (I didn't try this myself, played fair and lost miserably πŸ˜‘). Having each type of fish move slightly differently was a nice touch as well, and the setting is hilarious :D There are some improvements to be made with audio, but considering this is a compo game and the amount you may have put on the main mechanic and graphics the entry feels pretty solid overall. Great job! PS: Yay Haxe! πŸ‘
May 17 00:32:16 4h 17m The Mother of All Games ♥ 1 Wow...simple as the game mechanics may be, creating the levels, tweaking them and tying them all together with the overworld screen surely sounds like a massive amount of work, did you get any sleep at all during the jam? ;) The level of polish in all areas is no short of impressive either. At times I felt the reaction times on the snake minigame were a bit oversensitive, but other than that and some minor issues (in minigames with no way to die a restart button would have been nice, for instance), you've nailed it. I managed to get all the monky birds plus the cat πŸ˜ƒ. Sound effects were nice, especially on the overworld, and the music was subtle enough so it didn't get to feel particularly repetitive even if I spent quite a while playing. This is an incredible entry, congratulations!
May 17 01:38:26 1h 06m Giant Robots ♥ 1 I really liked the "kids playing with cardboard" setting, and the upgrade system was a welcome addition. Did you use Caustic for the sound effects? I've used it mostly for music in other games, but in this case I like how the shot and explosion effects turned out, way better than some of the samples we tend to generate with simpler tools -I admit I'm a bit guilty of this!. You're already aware of it so I won't add much, but I'll second the other comments regarding more specific information about each type of robot or what the upgrades would do. It might add more depth to the combat. Nice idea, with potential! :)
May 17 01:54:58 16m 32s Newbie God ♥ 2 Yay, I managed to get the three endings! πŸ˜ƒ Since there weren't too many options the puzzles were relatively straightforward, but well thought. I would have easily continued playing a bit longer with more content. Graphics were nice as well, I especially liked the colour palette, it had a relaxing vibe. Great job! :D
May 17 02:18:53 23m 55s Reduction ♥ 1 Cool concept. The shrinking levels were an interesting mechanic, and it fit the theme perfectly. Controls were a bit rough sometimes, I noticed that if you start moving diagonally and then release one of the two directional keys it will not change direction to vertical/horizontal. Even if it was an incomplete entry it showed some potential. Will you keep working on it for a hypothetical post-compo build?
May 17 02:38:25 19m 32s My world ♥ 2 I liked what you tried to achieve here. The concept was slightly similar to the one I'd used for a [past Ludum Dare](http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-33/?action=preview&uid=15664), although I couldn't properly convey the point. Gameplay-wise I guess I'll be echoing others. Sometimes it was hard to control the avatar, inertia was strong and there was no way to stop the character. I managed to get the "classical videogame" ending on my first playthrough. Halfway across my playthrough I reached a point where I realised that there could have been another way, but by then it was too late. Also, I may be mistaken but I got the impression that falling into the water didn't reset your progress, did it? The story kept going on. Nice job with the mood, too!
May 17 02:56:10 17m 45s EVO ♥ 1 I loved the idea, I really like evolution simulators. Getting better feedback to my actions, to better explain how they would affect the world, would have been a nice improvement. As it is right now, it feels a bit like a random click fest, unfortunately, even if I was following the hints from time to time. Improving this would do wonders for an otherwise solid entry. Nice game!
May 17 14:46:38 11h 50m littleBLASTplanet ♥ 1 Nice game here! I like the colour palette (I think others have mentioned Downwell, which was the first thing that came to my mind too when I saw the graphics, even if the game itself is not really similar in terms of gameplay), controls are tight and the mechanics are engaging. I've reached to the escape pod, but have the annoying habit of getting killed right before arriving there. As for possible improvements, I had a bit of trouble determining when or why the planet would explode (I wasn't sure if the square guys could hurt it, or they were just chasing me), and in some cases enemies would spawn right next to the player, resulting in an insta-kill. Perhaps adding some anticipation could be useful, in case altering the spawn logic is difficult. The automatically generated music sounded nice, too (at least, more fitting than other generators). And kudos for using Haxeflixel! Great job! πŸ˜ƒ
May 17 15:34:20 47m 42s YOSILand (Your Small Inner Land) ♥ 0 I liked the concept and how it offers a relatively original view on the theme, as opposed to a more literal interpretation. The stick people drawings and feel-god music were a welcome addition and created some pleasant mood. In terms of gameplay it reminded me of Reigns, but I must admit that I didn't really feel challenged when trying to keep all 6 areas balanced. Perhaps it's not the intention at all. If it is, maybe some tuning could help. Also, as others have mentioned, it felt more about personal decisions, but this could just be a matter of UX. Congrats on your first game, hope you two enjoyed making it!
May 17 15:48:14 13m 54s Little Mouse Planet ♥ 1 Nice idea! The voice of the mouse was cute, and I liked the graphics. The first time you meet the cat is quite memorable. As for feedback, like others I also kept trying to eat the cheese seeds until I found out they weren't immediately edible and you had to take care of them. Some other actions weren't clear enough (for example, I managed to fill the watering can by accident, after I'd been trying to interact with the well unsuccessfully), so I ended up starving on my first playthrough. Good job! It is interesting to find games developed in Scratch :)
May 17 15:56:39 8m 25s Terraform ♥ 1 Nice foundation! I can see the focus on world generation, how the different biomes fit together. As for gameplay, it had some pacing issues. If I'm not mistaken, building mines or wood would generate resources automatically but the rhythm with one or two of each was slow (at least I think I saw the numbers increasing). Also, the monsters didn't feel particularly challenging, and there weren't many things to do once you grasped the basics. Given the time constraints and the ambition of the idea I think this is to be expected. Despite this, the execution was quite solid. I liked the graphics, and the music was lovely. With more definite goals or challenges I can see how this could become an interesting little survival game. Don't Starve and Rimworld came to my mind when I played, and I've enjoyed both games a lot, which is a good sign. Congrats! Will you keep iterating on it in the future?
May 18 00:45:33 8h 48m Vacduum ♥ 0 Nice game! The idea is simple, but it is quite well executed and fun. You could actually feel the pressure of the cleaner behind you. I really liked the graphics as well, the dust specs were cute. Good job!
May 18 01:17:37 32m 04s Gravity Wars ♥ 1 Graphics and music (THE MUSIC!!! πŸ‘ πŸ‘) were top notch, from the best I've seen so far. As for gameplay, I started playing expecting a shooter similar to Geometry Wars or Waves, both of which I love, and had some problems figuring out what to do. Eventually I managed to get it right, but I still felt that there wasn't a real challenge. However, like @takusan I also agree that there's a great foundation here for a solid game. For example, I like the fact that you need to take care of dodging your own projectiles, that idea can probably be developed further. Good job!
May 18 01:39:09 21m 32s Desktop Adventure ♥ 2 Nice game! I really liked the graphics, and the folder teleport mechanic, as others have said, is neat. Great job!
May 18 01:55:09 16m 00s Fancy meeting you here ♥ 2 Brilliant idea! As a socially awkward person myself I could easily link the tension of succeeding at the minigames to the mental process of reading the other person, making lots of interpretations (most of them wrong) and then trying to come up with the right words. At the beginning this was even enhanced by a slight disorientation while getting used to the mini-game controls. The speech sounds also reinforced the discomfort of having to engage in small talk with those people. I liked how all those elements play to strengthen the point of the game. Great entry, congrats!!
May 18 02:21:13 26m 04s Age of Utan ♥ 2 Nice concept, solidly executed. It was interesting to attach new blocks and see how the mini world would be affected. Music and graphics were cute and matched the setting. The game itself felt quite relaxing, asteroids rarely posed a threat. However, there were times when blocks would just pass over (I didn't really need them at that time) and the pace would slow down a bit while waiting for new ones to become visible or even for an asteroid to shoot at. Great job!
May 18 02:45:25 24m 12s Retro Rabbit ♥ 2 Brilliant entry! The idea was simple, but execution was superb. The amount of content felt perfect to me (Adding even more content sounds like a good idea in theory, but it might tip the balance of all the current elements off, so I'm going to go with the "less is more" approach here), controls were responsive, and graphics and music were great. The only thing I'd add is, maybe, some high score tracking or leaderboards to keep players even more engaged. Even if they're not really necessary (I was hooked even without them anyway, just trying to improve at my latest result), would be the icing on the cake for an otherwise finished game. Congratulations, you've nailed one of the best games I've played so far on this edition πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘
May 18 15:31:39 12h 46m SUPER METROARIO ♥ 1 Nice, unusual setting choice to fit the theme with a lot of content. Interaction was relatively responsive, even if the physics were a bit floaty. The music was great, but the graphics. The main issue I had with the game is the fact that it kept breaking its conventions arbitrarily. I mean, exploration and discovery are key to a Metroidvania game. However, hiding paths behind generic tiles is not the best way to encourage that: it can make sense for secrets at times, as long as you provide some subtle hints to get the players thinking how to reach a seemingly inaccessible spot, but not so much for the main path. In some cases a tile would be breakable (or walkable), then the next one, looking exactly the same wouldn't, and there were no way to distinguish which case it was except for trial and error, which for a relatively large map can be frustrating. With some improvements in terms of visual feedback and art style, plus some small tweaks to the physics this could be an awesome entry, and you sure did a lot in 72h, so congrats!!
May 19 01:38:50 10h 07m There shall be light ♥ 1 Nice idea! In its current state it ends up being a bit repetitive once you get it (and you read the instructions to find the trees can be chopped, which I missed at the beginning πŸ˜…). Basically, after a while no new enemies spawned, and the existing ones were cornered, so I didn't have much left to do. I liked the torch placing mechanic, it has potential for additional features to give it more depth. Well done!
