I liked your game, simple idea well executed! There is really nothing to complain about, everything works as expected.

A lovely game from a lovely couple. You did the thing that I've always dreamed. The game is neat and well but maybe you should continue it to improve more. Thanks for the webgl build as well. My only complaint is about the fonts you have used. I had some hard time to read the texts. Good luck.

baconinvader 2017-04-29 13:39

Nice idea but I feel the execution was a bit too boring. The art is nice though, and I didn't encounter any bugs.

Hey! Cool casual game. I kept being terrible at entertainment for some reason. Probably not a good sign for an indie game dev haha.

I liked the paper-drawn style. You selected a nice piece of music to go with it too. I liked the characters, they're cute. Mechanically the game appeared to work really nicely. I could understand what was happening at any point without trouble.

Some little points: * In a game like this, where everything is focused on the text, you want to triple-check things like spelling and grammar. I know that's boring and hard! But for example "Do you want with them?" pretty clearly needs a verb. I get the sense of what you mean, luckily. * Further to this, the text appeared low-resolution / pixellated on my screen. If the text is important, it should be very legible. The font choice was barely ok, but every character should definitely be crisp and clear. * I'd like to know how close I am to the end of my life! Sometimes I'd click away and it would be a surprise. I feel like there's also a lot of potential here for branching choices / making the most of the time you have left. * Also I think those little characters should be giving me advice about what to do in the situation. The characters don't really get involved with the game much which is a shame because you've come up with so much background for them.

Overall, I enjoyed the game for one or two play-throughs. Given the limited time-span of the jam it's understandable you'd want to get the basics down first, and certainly there's a lot here that can be expanded on. Congratulations on what you've made!

The idea is good but it is not implemented well in the game but it is good for something created in just 3 days

jorbits 2017-05-01 06:46

I think making other options to answer would make the game more intresting (Not only "yes" and "no").

timtipgames 2017-05-01 06:55

I like the idea and for the most part the execution.

I wish that there were more interactions with the guys at some point. Reading through all of their persona descriptions didn't seem to help with the game after all, which is a pitty since you invested work to invent them in the first place and they seem to offer a lot of potential.

I feel like it is a game about me, and not about the guys at all.

I wish you could have used them to make the game more than a magazin-style "answer these 20 questions and you will find out what type of person you are" questionaire, which in the end it feels like.

The graphics do work and despite some grammar mistakes (I am obviously not a native speaker either, but they stood out) my only problem visually was that the font was hard to read sometimes and was displayed pixelated which made it even harder to read.

The choice of music was good, and I enjoyed what I think could have been much more :)

The animations with the paper cards are neato. I liked the scanned effect, and the themes about finding balance between things in life.

I think some colour would help, especially since each type of little person represents a different value or paradigm. Their shapes do help serve that though!

fangzhangmnm 2017-05-01 07:14

Good Things:

The music and the graphics brings a breathe of life.

To Improve:

Music is a bit noisy. Need some sound mixing.

Text is difficult to read

brothers-arcade 2017-05-01 09:15

Really great job for your first ludum, almost feels like a board game.

tn7111 2017-05-02 13:10

Hi everybody! Thank you very much for the comments! @lars-dk, yeah, the grammar is terrible. As you may guess, all was added in the latest moment and needs fixes - smth I'm going to focus on. And yeah, obviously pixelated font and all the text issues I shoud've addressed in a text-based game. @timtipgames, so you guys think there should be more interactions with THE GUYS. Like you are more supposed to interact with them then just answering questions? I like it! I guess this is smth I gonna focus on! Thanks to your comments I feel like the game is actually something worth developing further. So I guess I'll go on with this))) I'm really excited on how well-built this jam is. It actually by its nature pushes a nice feel of community inside here where everyone gives support instead of pure and cheat-prone competition.

I couldn't help to chuckle at the thought of it when the game suggested that my mother (who is somewhere on the spectrum between agnosticism and atheism) would ask me to join her for church. Of course if she ever did ask I would quite definitely tag along since I'd really like to know what in naturalism and universalism was going on.

:fearful:  :innocent:

Also: very catchy music! To thumbs up!

uvwar 2017-05-17 02:39

I....think I understood what was happening. Were there any negatives for choosing certain things? Like if I just keep hitting 'yes' does that mean I can get good scores in every category? (that seemed to be what was happening to me) But! A fun concept! Maybe if you make choices have harsher penalties and eventually lock you out of certain categories if you don't 'feed' the need enough, you could end up with interesting 'personality' profiles that way.

geeitsomelaldy 2017-05-17 11:50

Nice game, but I can barely read that font sometimes.

yetikatt 2017-05-17 15:17

Good entry. I loved the audio and the game was fun. My only real criticism was that I couldn't really read the font on quite a few occasions, it could probably benefit from a clearer font. Other than that, great job

geckoo1337 2017-05-17 15:22

Interesting project which fits with the theme. Well done. However, it could be improved with more time, but it is good enough. I had fun playing it. I like mood and aesthetic handmade. Thumbs up ++

PS : I noticed that you rated just a few games. What did you expect? Respectfully you must rate games so as to receive ratings. I wish you the best.

hackschnitzel 2017-05-17 15:22

Nice idea. Love the drawings and had to laugh because of Benedict. But maybe you should show how much questions are there in total. After some time to get behind the game goal - I started to click only the yes button. But yes... Nice game ;-) Congratulations.

ithildin 2017-05-17 15:34

I liked the concept and how it offers a relatively original view on the theme, as opposed to a more literal interpretation. The stick people drawings and feel-god music were a welcome addition and created some pleasant mood.

In terms of gameplay it reminded me of Reigns, but I must admit that I didn't really feel challenged when trying to keep all 6 areas balanced. Perhaps it's not the intention at all. If it is, maybe some tuning could help. Also, as others have mentioned, it felt more about personal decisions, but this could just be a matter of UX.

Congrats on your first game, hope you two enjoyed making it!

flaterectomy 2017-05-17 17:51

A pretty cool way to tackle a life simulation. After the first time where I considered things carefully I just clicked 'yes' on everything, and things still turned out pretty good. It would've been nice to have dramatic results. I spoiled my life's work that time, sure, but I was loved and had a good time living. A shame that much of what you wrote in the description of the game didn't get represented in the game itself.

The art is pretty basic. I see what you were doing with it, but there is room for polish and diversity with the characters and their houses. With multiple results it was sometimes hard to see what numbers changed and in which direction they changed. A +1 or -1 popping off the numbers and fading out, for instance, would have been helpful.

All in all I enjoyed this entry!

I love the concept! Apparently I love sports and I am very spiritual.
