May 2 01:25:50 Skylands ♥ 3 This is a cool puzzle game. It's compact, but challenging in the right spots. I feel like the difficulty increases sharply between levels 1 and 2, but it wasn't too much of a stretch to figure things out. Agree with the above commenter a zoom-out would be nice, but things work as they are and add to the challenge. Looking forward to seeing a post-comp version of this if you make one!
May 2 01:35:59 10m 09s Monolith ♥ 3 This is great! Loved how zippy the ship is and the targets are fun. The music is catchy too.
May 2 02:04:45 28m 46s Attack of the Planetary-Vampires ♥ 2 Great gameplay and polish. The graphics and UI layout are nice too -- I especially liked the moving clouds, hud, and the intro fonts.
May 2 21:49:52 19h 45m Recursive nightmare ♥ 1 This is great! I love the paper images, especially at the end when they come apart. Great story & finish and clever use of the theme too -- it really is a small world!
May 13 19:49:26 261h 59m Spider Collider ♥ 1 Played this on OS X. 1) I liked that you had a loader before the game started to tweak visual settings. 2) Great font! Reminds me of tempest! 3) Loved the gameplay -- the physics and spider flight are fun! This reminds me of a throwback arcacde game in all the right ways. The spider animation has just the right amount of detail. 4) MUSIC 100% AMAZING!
May 13 20:23:47 34m 21s Aim for the Star ♥ 1 This is a clever take on the astroid (or planet x!) crashing into earth scenario. Except it's the sun! This is a fun unique puzzle game.
May 13 21:09:51 46m 04s ATLANTIS ♥ 2 I started playing on Itch on OS X / Safari. I had some difficulty with the window size. I then tried to get the Indiexpo standalone player, but it was only for windows (the download button indicates combined with OS X tho...). I finally went with Kongregate. This definitely has a board game feel to it, and the mechanic reminds me of Forbidden Island. I like the multi-character puzzle-like aspects and the overall mission is fun. I drowned about half of the island befoe I got a hang on the controls, though. This game is incredibly polished for such a short competition. Would love to see this as a board game.
May 13 21:22:24 12m 33s A Game with Bees ♥ 0 I played the OS X version. The background flowers and gameplay perspective is engaging and well done. Hope you continue with this.
May 13 21:44:45 22m 21s Polyville ♥ 1 - I liked the small-town feel of the game, it definitely fit the theme and was pleasantly retro. - The quests were fun, if a bit repetitive, but impressive for a first Ludum Dare weekend project. - The tree art captured the smothering feel of a thick forest without restricting movement too much. The layout of the houses also worked very well. - I'm playing on OS X without color and had to use the hints to find objects. Overall, I enjoyed your game, looking forward to playing your future entries!
May 13 21:53:18 8m 33s It's A Small World And It's Gonna Get Smaller ♥ 1 I loved it! The gameplay was fun and I enjoyed abducting the cows as much as the people.
May 13 22:02:27 9m 09s Raven Delivery Service ♥ 1 I played this on OS X / Safari in single player. - The simplistic unambiguous graphics worked well for the game, it was very clear what to do. - I wanted to jump, but the vines worked well! - The mechanic is fun and reminds me of the Luminosity coffee maker game. Overall, great entry, especially loved the music.
May 13 22:09:55 7m 28s Apocalypse World Cup ♥ 3 This is really cool! Love the co-op and the overall use of the theme. The 2d zoom effects and rotations work well too, though they make me a little nauseous after playing for awhile. I love toasting the earth. :) Great job!
May 14 01:30:19 3h 20m Insect Attack ♥ 1 Hey, it shipped! :) I like the background, it gives the impression the user is on a counter-top or kitchen-like floor area and makes it easy to see the ants. The gameplay is simple and works.
May 14 01:42:23 12m 04s A Giant Hitch ♥ 1 - The intro pacing & zooms are well done, so is the brief tutorial that meshes with the gameplay. - It's fun to roll around as a square. I like how most objects shake after jumps. - The color / gameplay transition on the staircase to the cantina is cool. - Great use of humor, two doorways: one for giants, one for regular squares, the ending, etc.
May 14 02:00:48 18m 25s Pixel Town ♥ 1 Fun game! I'm playing on OS X / Safari. It took me a few tries to get used to the mouse cursor placement of objects, but after that I finished the first scenario fairly quickly. I love the simplicity and the pixel graphics. It's especially nice to see the population using the houses and roads. The UI could use polish, but this is an exceptional game for a weekend jam.
May 14 02:55:47 54m 59s Retro Rabbit ♥ 1 I really enjoyed this circular-endless runner. Clever use of the theme. - Graphics are simple but sharp. - Gameplay is fun and the difficulty increases are well measured over time. - Great music.
May 14 03:12:23 16m 36s Cubical ♥ 1 Despite seeing the cube in the instructions it took me a minute to figure out that I should rotate the view. :) Playing on a mac laptop with a touchpad was challenging, would love to see some keyboard hotkeys for the zoom and rotation. Overall great job, love idea behind the mechanics, and I'm looking forward to playing the post-comp version.
May 14 03:28:43 16m 20s Tiny Hero ♥ 1 When I try to play on OS X / Safari on itch, I get "Exception thrown, see JavaScript console. Screen Shot 2017-05-13 at 8.27.39 PM.png
May 14 03:33:30 4m 47s Spike Spire ♥ 2 Difficult but moody. I liked the music!
May 14 05:31:21 1h 57m Contamination ♥ 1 Clever use of the theme! I play in grayscale and had some difficulty distinguishing between the red and the green cells. Enjoyed the mechanics, reminds me of microsurgeon for the Intellivision.
May 14 05:41:53 10m 32s Ascension ♥ 1 You had me a the first screenshot -- the graphics reminded me of an awesome Minecraft biome in the sky. Loved the graphics, especially the player's model, and the overall gameplay. The game's completeness made up for the shortness.
May 14 05:50:24 8m 31s Destructo Island ♥ 2 Nice! Thanks for including an OS X version. The game has a dream-like quality to it, not sure if it's intended or my computer is just slow. Also, I got kind of mobbed by drones after playing for awhile. Great job on all of this, the game looks stellar and is fun to play.
May 14 05:57:37 7m 13s BAD RNG ♥ 1 Love these style of games, and the humor with the spider was great. The joystick at the bottom is a nice touch too. Great job!
May 14 06:01:14 3m 37s drone ♥ 1 Very soothing to play! Thanks for releasing this.
May 14 06:13:34 12m 20s Angelic Design ♥ 1 I would buy this if you built a post-comp version! I love the concept and prototype. I wasn't able to win, but it didn't matter, it was fun. Please continue!
May 14 06:24:42 11m 08s Quantum ♥ 0 I liked the object lighting and the explosion effect when particles were destroyed. Fell off the map a few times. :) Overall, fun, and a creative use of the theme.
May 14 06:32:44 8m 02s Macdyver ♥ 1 I played the flash version. Interesting game -- had some difficulty with object gathering at first because I think I picked up trash as my first items. The health bar also wouldn't re-fill 100% after I re-entered the dome. Overall this is a very soothing game and it's fun to gather the objects.
May 14 06:36:40 3m 56s Anger Birb: World ♥ 2 I live in San Francisco and this is 100% legit.
May 14 18:49:49 12h 13m Cathode Way ♥ 2 Please post a mac version! :)
May 14 19:07:57 18m 08s Luggage Robber ♥ 0 This is so great! Love the premise, Atari 5200 style graphics and gameplay, and the music. Would love to see a post-comp version of this with more depth.
May 14 19:33:12 25m 15s Small World Resort Manager ♥ 1 Enjoyed this! The research added depth and I liked having to be a bit shady when starting out.
May 14 19:45:34 12m 22s Submerged ♥ 1 Great concept. I played on OS X without a scroll wheel and had some difficulty selecting floors. So I just built as the water rose. The pond item was funny.
May 14 19:50:11 4m 37s Stunt Pilot ♥ 0 Love the small world concept and use of the theme, which makes flying a challenge. The bird strikes are a nice touch too.
May 14 19:53:40 3m 29s Tiny Dentist ♥ 1 This is definitely unique! I like how the patient seems to get angry after the first pull.
May 14 19:57:26 3m 46s Just Another Pocket Universe ♥ 1 Smooth gameplay, I liked that the background seemed to be a pocket. Being able to place people is fun, looking forward to seeing the post-comp version of this!
May 14 20:17:45 20m 19s Six Degrees of Separation Between Me and the Party ♥ 1 - Love the art. Reminds me of Maniac Mansion for the classic NES! - Messaging interface is smooth too. During first message with cousin Lisa she's talking about her Dad quite a bit but the option says Uncle, which is a little confusing. - The background music is fantastic. Overall, loved this, one of the best games I've played so far in this jam.
May 14 20:21:30 3m 45s Earth Quest ♥ 0 I like the concept and the graphics, it feels very sim-earth-like to me. The moving stars were a nice touch at first, but a bit dizzying after repeated play. Great use of the theme!
May 14 20:26:33 5m 03s Around the world in 80 Seconds! ♥ 0 Enjoyed the options! I died with the catapult the first time around which was funny. Made it the second time. Screen Shot 2017-05-14 at 1.25.55 PM.png
May 14 20:35:40 9m 07s Operation: Small World ♥ 1 Funny intro dialog and the agent sunglasses work well with the graphics to add humor. I also like that I can skip the driving intro. Hope you continue with this post-comp!
May 14 20:43:51 8m 11s Bad RNG ♥ 0 I liked the gameplay and being able to zip around to get the power for the RNG. That worked really well. I also liked the trailing light effects as I zipped, which added to the fun.
May 14 21:19:14 35m 23s Antology ♥ 0 I liked the different UI's for the overworld, combat, and dying. :) The reputation bar makes the game.
May 14 21:26:54 7m 40s Enlarge your planet ! ♥ 1 I like the idea of this -- it's an interesting take on global warming except it's more like global sizing? Losing was fun and strangely satisfying: watching the earth get larger and larger made me want to see what would happen. Screen Shot 2017-05-14 at 2.24.46 PM.png
May 14 21:39:41 12m 47s Timmy and the Snowflake ♥ 1 - Great intro! Loved the voice over and the overall presentation. - If you press the space bar while jumping the jumps seem to come up short and stiff, particuarly with running jumps. I found just using the arrow keys works a bit better. - I liked the player character's graphics. Overall great job for your 2nd LD! Looking forward to playing more of your games in future events.
May 14 21:58:30 18m 49s Small Worlds ♥ 2 - I like the camera positioning and the smooth zoom as the player jumps from planet to planet. - The audio works well at a lower volume. I had my speakers cranked up from another game, and the bursts at higher volume were a bit squeaky. My suggestion would be to polish the FX to make them a bit more soft and space-like. - The player's icon is cute and the solar system exploration via jump mechanic is fun. Overall this is an incredibly relaxing game and a good use of the theme!
May 14 22:02:21 3m 51s Flutter ♥ 1 I'm so happy to see a twine game in this competition. Love the baseline story and mechanics. Very relaxing to play.
May 14 22:13:49 11m 28s Little Rocks in the Sky ♥ 1 - Enjoyed the inventory mechanic, it made the planet (?) exploration more satisfying. - Playing on OS X with a late 2013 Macbook Pro I felt like I was losing frames, which made the jumps jittery. I've seen a few other Java games this LD that didn't have this issue, so it's possibly fixable (or smoothable). - I liked the overworld map on the lower right. I got lost in the big sun(?) and was able to navigate my way out with it.
May 14 22:22:49 9m 00s Finding your loved one ♥ 2 - I liked the art! It's handrawn! Obviously! And it works! - The music is so soothing. I've been playing LD entries all day getting beeped, bopped, and screetched at, and this makes up for it. - Playing on OS X / Safari on a late 2013 Macbook Pro, the background is a bit stuttery during jumps which makes it hard to read the floating text. My suggestion would be to position it a bit lower and 100% visible from ground level so the player doesn't have to jump to see it. Overall lovely game, hope to see a post-comp version of this!
May 14 22:25:48 2m 59s MiniRacer ♥ 0 Love the music. The core gameplay is fun, would look forward to playing a post-comp version of this.
May 14 22:34:47 8m 59s This Small World ♥ 0 I liked the overall concept for this game. It feels like an interactive board game. One suggestion would be to incorporate the mouse into the game to make it more intuitive.
May 14 22:44:27 9m 40s The Snow Globe Conflict ♥ 0 Enjoyed the strategy and gameplay. This could be really fun as a co-op.
May 14 22:53:32 9m 05s The Seesaw Redemption ♥ 1 Love the title, also the intro puzzle and getting out of the cage is very well-done. After I rolled off the table I kept going right and kind of floated bounced on what looked like endless thumbtacks. Overall, I loved this entry.
May 14 23:31:33 38m 01s DEFEND YOUR SMALLEST OF WORLDS ♥ 4 - I liked being able to toss unicorn-cows? at the aliens. - Struggled a little at first to figure out how to play. - I liked the friendly fire concept with the gameplay. Early on I shot a car into a space cow and watched it tumble away. - I could keep playing sort of (in the background) after I killed the earth with my lack of space sling-shot competence. Overall, good job, this is a fun casual game.
May 15 01:19:50 1h 48m Transistor Soup ♥ 1 - +1 for a clear feature. - I like that it doesn't have sound or FX, but maybe a satisfying noise when parts are fit into place could work. - I know close to nothing about transistors and circuit design. It took me awhile to pass the first level and a bit of trial and error to figure out how the bridge worked, even with the manual. My mistake was trying to run wire from the top to the bottom point of the bridge, rather than just using the contact points. Even though you illustrated it. :P Overall this game is both challenging and educational, both in good ways. I spent about an hour playing, and I will probably put more time into it later. Hope you continue with this!
May 15 03:49:30 2h 29m Bitverse ♥ 1 - This is really fun! I love the concept of teleporting around to different areas and exploring planets. It kind of reminds me of Starflight. - The controls took a bit to figure out. I like being able to use the mouse to target shots. The enemies were quite fast though. - The action happened so quickly it took me a few deaths to realize I had died and respawned. Hope you continue with this after the jam, it's a great concept for a game.
May 15 04:00:52 11m 22s Ruin a picnic! ♥ 0 Funny but a bit difficult at first, it took me a few attempts to conquer a sandwich without getting swatted. I like the graphics and the concept. It would be cool if the up arrow also allows the player to take off in addition to flying up.
May 17 05:20:53 49h 20m Blocknauts! ♥ 1 I played the version of the game produced during LD38. - I liked the positioning of the intro text, but it was a tiny bit small and reading it involved some gymnastics. - LOVED THE VIEW! Jetting from planet to planet and then looking "up" made the game. - At first I wanted to be able to run on the planets, but then I got used to the speed. It reminds me of watching moonwalks. - Walking from day to night on the tree planet was a neat experience. You really captured the beauty of it. This was my favorite moment: blocknauts-favorite.png - I also liked how the character was re-positioned during landing. I struggled with the camera alignment while jetting around, so I'd feel like I was constantly mid-crash, but then my character would finish the move gracefully. - BUG-REPORT: Immolation didn't work as expected. blocknauts-immolation.png
May 17 05:45:05 24m 12s Something Something ♥ 0 I wasn't able to get this to run on my Macbook Pro running Bootcamp with Windows 7 Pro. The map editor seemed to load, however. sgstair_crash1.png
May 17 06:40:52 55m 47s Pallas Station ♥ 0 - Very clear instructions. I was interested in playing the board game version even before the game started. :) - I was relieved when when enemies would miss, but it took me a few games before I wasn't killed almost immediately. - The crisis cards definitely added flavor and broke things up a bit. - Would suggest adding tooltips on the ships and making the date a bit more visible. It also wasn't clear at first when the enemy ship would start attacking. - Would also be fun to see where the population is concentrated. Near the end of one of my more successful games almost everything got bombed away but my population was still quite high and seemed to increase. bombed_off_map.png - The end-game is fun! After I stopped generating metal I held out much longer than I expected thanks to the bomb cards. pallas_2064.png
May 17 06:50:40 9m 48s Too Big For This WorLD38 ♥ 1 FYI the game was a bit slow on my late 2013 Macbook Pro running Bootcamp / Windows 7 Pro. The intro was lovely and well paced. I would suggest increasing the font size of the intro text. The graphics were beautiful and the landscape gorgeous. It wasn't exactly clear what to do, but I would love to see a more fleshed out version of this post comp.
May 17 07:01:25 10m 45s The Burrow ♥ 0 - It wasn't immediately clear to me the game had started, but having the credits as an intro is very clever. - Love the motion of the worm squeezing through narrow spaces. - The transitions were unexpected and wonderful. Loved playing as different creatures. The ending is perfect!
May 17 07:11:48 10m 23s Hop Up ♥ 2 Thanks for the content warning!
May 17 07:20:54 9m 06s Bubble Boy ♥ 1 - Love the intro screen -- it has such a classic NES feel to it. - The flag and the use of hills gives this a Mario vibe. - Love the mechanic of being blown off-stage at the end of each level. - I know the controls can be remapped, but I would suggest changing the default control for jump from left CTRL to spacebar.
May 19 03:48:26 44h 27m Tiny Buckler ♥ 0 - Love the music and the sound effects. - The shape of the overworld is fun to navigate while attacking monsters. I want to go into the houses -- they feel almost like a mini-game waiting to happen. :) Did you ever play Fester's Quest for the classic NES? - The buckler throwing mechanic is satisfying, but it's sometimes challenging to recapture the buckler. - The difficulty of the game seems about right for the levels. Great job on this!
May 19 03:56:47 8m 21s DUCKTRON ♥ 1 - The intro was solid and worked. The game is called ducktron, but it wasn't until I started playing past the intro that it hit me the game was going to be about ducks. :) - Love the chess-board feel of the game. - Great job on the music and FX too. - The gameplay is fun and pecking feels satisfying. Would love to play a more fleshed out version of this post-comp!
